This is a great thing - some people don't want to go out and pick the game up, but they will buy it digitally if they could, and this will help future sells for Blizzard since they don't have a middle man for digital downloads, no boxes and selling in bulk to ebgames/gamestop etc.
How DOES it benefit consumers, that much. The only thing I can see it helps is convience, but nothing else!
I just can't understand why people all like DD is a good thing, it's NOT!

Blizzard, please put back the single player offline mode!
I can see it as a bad thing in the way that you don´t actually own anything, you do have the rights to play the game but physically you don't have anything like booklets box art etc...
But for those who want the commodity of getting the game in a couple of minutes from home without moving a finger it is a good thing, I guess it's a matter of choice
This is already in discussion at another thread. I said in said thread that this looks like a typical DNS domain name transfer behavior. I haven't confirmed Mockery has done this yet. I haven't interacted with Mockery in like 2-3 weeks.
Usually during a domain name transfer the people living in the immediate area will notice the DNS change right away. While those who live further continue to see the domain name working as normal. Around noon, I could still see diablo3.com pointing to diablofans.com (I live on US East Coast). It is past 6pm and now Diablo3.com went to limbo with a blank page and errors. Sometimes even get a google search page.
If there is any domain name transfer updates, you will read them on the Diablofans.com News Section. I contacted Mockery and Jetrall on this matter in case it is a technical problem.
Although I don't really see it as a replacement for purchasing a game, I think it is a nice compliment for when you purchase the game in a store. I wouldn't want this to be the only method of buying a game. At least not for now.
Honestly speaking I would think it would be a nice thing if you lost you cd or broke it that you can download it and use you key. Thought they are all out for profit... So not happening.
Actually, if you have your cd key you can go to the Blizzard store and register the key and then use the digital download to install the game again. You could just write down your cd-keys and trash your discs.
Anyways, where is our diablo3.com news?! The more time that has passed without an official post on the diablo3.com transfer of ownership from I-Mockery the more I worry that it was just a technical problem...
is this where all video games are going... digital? i don't know if i like not having a CD for a game, so it is backed up... what if the digital installer gets corrupt? do you have to buy a new one, is there a warranty for that?

Well with online digital downloads you are just purchasing the license (key). Usually you can download the game as many times as you like given that key.
Interesting. Has anybody seen the most recent article on Diablo3.net?

Also, I wonder why diablo3.net hasn't been snatched by Blizzard?
And why exactly would Ubi Soft know anything about diablo... I was never aware they had connections with Blizzard, there would be no point in them knowing, I've never trusted that site anyways who cares

Hehe... But if some un-reliable source posted that Diablo 3 is confirmed, then we would all praise him and think he's right...
Anyway, I don't see why it's so damned expensive... like, WTH Blizzard...
