I agree with Bashiok that pixie cuts are, indeed, hot. However, it irritates me a little that they found such a difference necessary. Reminds me of the army's double-standard with male and female hair. If my girlfriend needn't shave her beautiful head of hair, why in Hell should I?

well at least she has more hair than the assassin ,and might (i hope) more cutter
Sorry she doesn't have more cutting than the assassin. She's rather blunt.

She has better be at least visually muscled so i can believe that she has the monks speed.
I think blizzard got a crazy idea in their design phase.

Girl with pixie haircut that can kick ass and looks Asian? Win
But the monk is not Asian at all.
EDIT: Oh and by the way. They said that the monk is basically an orthodox monk who went to train and school himself somewhere in the east. And there actually ARE female monks in the orthodox traditions, they are just called a different name for which there is not an equivalent in the English language.
Women can be monks as well in eastern religions, of which the monk draws the majority of his influence. We're obviously putting a western spin on it though and making it something specific for Sanctuary.
pixie cut is just what i was hoping for!
im so relieved she won't have long hair, (could have lived with bald or fuzzy).
the character i have been waiting for will look just like i want her to.

they'll never see me coming.. life is a sequence of tragedies, inconsistent only by fleeting, elusive moments of pleasure,
serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.

Go figure
that is just bullshit.
there is no such thing as a female monk.
the word monk in our reality is a gender specific term
women who are the equivalent of monks in eastern religions are called nuns
They're essentially equivalent, actually. All that changes is the name and subservience. It wouldn't have been practical to have a different name for a female version (see here). Watch your trolling, please.
The female monk or nun in the Pali language is known as a “bhikkhuni”, which means a woman who has obtained the higher ordination (upasampada) in the Buddha’s Sangha.
that is just bullshit.

I don't see why there's all this HubHub about a character's name really. I see the name more like a lifestyle than an actual position or title. The term Knight is most of the time refered to man and you had to be a man in order to get knighted. There are exceptions like Jeanne D'arc which was knighted by the france court if I remember correctly. Which proves that even if a term is related to man, some females can also get it on special occasions. This will render our femal character a lot more interesting since she was sooo awesome that she could attain a rank attributed to a man So now, this is gonna be a very cool thing.
A medieval tenant giving military service as a mounted man-at-arms to a feudal landholder.
(Abbr. Knt. or Kt.) A medieval gentleman-soldier, usually high-born, raised by a sovereign to privileged military status after training as a page and squire.
(Abbr. K.) A man holding a nonhereditary title conferred by a sovereign in recognition of personal merit or service to the country.
(Abbr. Knt. or Kt.) A man belonging to an order or brotherhood.
A defender, champion, or zealous upholder of a cause or principle.
The devoted champion of a lady
If you put it in any way, it's a man. Women didn't go to war in medieval times and in the Roman era it was the same. Women going to war is a new concept that's just begining to submerge in our current culture. They were looked upon with little interest (there are some exceptions here, such as egyptians).
Monk definition:
A monk (Greek: μοναχός, monachos) is a person who practices religious asceticism, living either alone or with any number of like-minded people, whilst always maintaining some degree of physical separation from those not sharing the same purpose. The concept is ancient and can be seen in many religions and in philosophy.
There you go, a monk is usually refered as a Man but a women can also fit the criteria if she follows the same principles and lifestyle.

Agreed... the whole shaving thing... really. If you need to shave it, do it to everybody. If you don't, don't do it at all.
The "western spin" probably means that the female version would have to be hot though...

Lets create a new language for Diablo III.
