Wow, all this info even before Blizzcon is really brilliant. My mouth whets when I gander over those desert screenshots. I loved the city of Lut Ghulein in D2, so these screenshots are a joy for me. Can't wait for the next two to three days and all the stuff that transpires. Diablo fans, we're in for a ride.
PS. I didn't mind the previous single-cell inventory system, but I'll definitely not mind the tetris-style one if it does indeed return.
When you scroll over an item it compares the item to the one you have equipped. Well I am sure you all have but it raises the question, how do you know what is on the item? In D2 we had to identify items, are they throwing the identification system out the window or is it possible it will take a more 'lore' based approach like Bauldurs Gate?
Well then you'd have to identify it before you can compare it to your already-equipped item. If you look at some of the drops, they seem like shorter names. If they were all identified, my guess is the drops would have longer names. Idk.
Nice MF shrine =) I love that idea hehehe
Go Blizzard
but it would be more awesome if you could combine shrines like health, defense, skills
SO FUN rite there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111
Perhaps I missed it, but i don't think it said there would be no MF besides shrines. I would presume you still can get it from gear, but perhaps you also can get a shrine that...I don't know, doubles it for a short time or something.

Ha ha! Yes, my mistake, thank you for pointing that out. I think I'm definitely going to go with a writing degree over a IST degree, now
Also, I never really thought about it before, but it looks like the Orb thing in the right hand is an item that is equippable, which I mean to say, there will be other Orbs to find and trade for throughout the game. I think that's kind of neat. It's kind of like the Sorceress Orbs of Diablo II except without the handle and made of pure magic
Perhaps I missed it, but i don't think it said there would be no MF besides shrines.
Yeah, I don't think I said that in the OP, unless you are referring to someone else.
Ugh! I hate that there's all this news before BlizzCon. It's making me feel like there's going to be nothing new when I've been waiting so long. I've literally been blocking all the pictures, screenshots, and videos with my hand. I wanted it to be news with BlizzCon..
Dont worry, people only played a new version of the demo, and we're getting all excited over every little bit of news that we can extract from analyzing the videos. But at BlizzCon, we'll have the real announcements!
I dont know if you've seen any new announcement made by any developer during GamesCon, but Blizzard's staff seems to keep all their precious infos for their own conference, 2 days later!

And for the MF, if it's coming back only in the form of shrines, or random buffs, I'll be really happy, I dont really want MF to be on gear anymore... It can be additionnal to some unique items, but I dont really want a 'Modifier' on items for MF...

If you can't amaze people with your intelligence, confuse them with your bullshit.
I've been playing Titan Quest while waiting for D3, and there are two major interface improvements in TQ that D3 should definitely adopt.
The one that's thread-relevant is an auto-arrange button for the tetrispack. The minigame in D2 of your character saying "I have no more room," and then you opening up the pack and yelling "Yes you do, you jackass, you suck at packing!" was really a pointless drag on the game. In TQ auto-arrange is just a button on your inventory screen. Use it if you want, don't if you don't want. Easy and no-brainer feature.
The second is no identifying. In D2 it's purposeless. Boss dropped something awesome! Pick it up, click on identify scroll, click on item, see what it is. That's it, and you can easily cut the middleman there. Pick it up, see what it is. Done.
The only way identify should stay is if they bring back cursed items from D1, with some sort of mechanics that make them a real challenge if you get stuck with one, and make identify scrolls much rarer. Basically return identify to its roots in roguelikes, where if you have no identify scrolls you can still identify an item by equipping it, but it might be cursed and if so you won't be able to take it off for some time. That would be an alright fit for the grimdark Diablo world. You pick up a magical item - should you use it? It might mow down your enemies, but it also just might steal your soul...
Yeah, I agree an auto-arrange function would be nice. It would be both convenient and efficient, since it also goes with the traditionally fast-paced action immersion aspect of the game series. Less hassling, more play.
Identifty and its pointlessness was already a subject at Blizzard's forum and while I don't remember it confirmed, I'm pretty sure they knew how useless and just a waste of time it was.
An auto arrange button is not enough for the inventory. It should be able to move itself slightly to accommodate a new item (if possible) automatically. If there is some way I could place my inventory to make it fit, it should do so without me wasting any time on it.
Like, if you had an item in your cursor and floated it over some items in your inventory, they would automatically move to make room (if room could be made)? That kind of deal?

Not gonna read the whole thread, but from what I understand, there's gonna be a "luck" stat, only given by gear, that increases your chances of a good drop. It might have other functions as well, and you probably will need to have a different gear for grinding than the one you'd use for "farming".
As in:
if you want to find good items (for selling, or whatever) you go to an area where you know there are good drops and where you can survive with your luck gear and go there with it.
if you want to level as fast as possible, you would go to an area where the mobs give good exp and wear something that has better def and more damage per sec ie. not your 'luck' gear.
the shrine would probably double your luck for finding items, i suppose.

Blizzard's not gonna let some game convention in Germany steal the show from them, especially when Blizzcon is tomorrow. Sure, they got to play the new area/act (whatever you want to call it.) first, but Blizzard is saving all of the good stuff for their own show. They won't disappoint! Besides, I still got money riding on a new class being unveiled.:D And perhaps another Act to show us!!! Hey, I can dream can't I?:P

Nah, luck as a stat hasn't been confirmed yet. That was mostly just speculation on an obscure sentence here. There's a whole discussion for that here, if you want to take a look.
But anyway I got a question to all of you. What do you think about outlining the hovered monsters? In this demo we can see that when someone hovers the monster it's being outlined in red color. It look ugly imo. It's useless. Hope I could disable this in Video settings
A good question and one which has received mixed answers. That is off topic, though, so, back to the topics of the OP! Hurray! (You can talk about it here, I believe.)
I'm happy about the tetris inventory coming back, although I hope we can rotate the items 90 degrees this time.
The only other inventory system I can think of that I'd like as much as the tetris version would be a weight based version. It's been used in countless other games and I generally like it assuming they don't put the limit too low without a way to increase it.

The tetris inventory is back, and it looks better than ever! This totally made my day.
About MF Shrines, I think it's better than Mf from items. They should restrict it to non-special monsters, so you don't hear that all the time.
Can anybody confirm this? Because I don't want to get worked up and then find it was all fake.
PS. I didn't mind the previous single-cell inventory system, but I'll definitely not mind the tetris-style one if it does indeed return.
