You do have a point though if you put yourself in the lore or background of the Witchdoctor...the things that are around him that he uses everyday...is his arsenal. I cave man is surrounded by stone and lumber...he made a primative mace
Witchdoctors are known to also drink their own urine. I don't want to see a urine cast skill....So likewise, keep the frogs.

at first, i was thinking killer frogs don't really fit the diablo universe, but then again d2 had these dudes:
but you only encountered them in swampy places where they seemed normal.
i don't know maybe the witch doc frogs will take a little away from the atmosphere, but i'm pretty sure i'll never play a witch doc, so i can get over it

they'll never see me coming.. life is a sequence of tragedies, inconsistent only by fleeting, elusive moments of pleasure,
serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.
Well, I think a major reason why fans aren't fully adjusted to him yet is because he's a culture that was just introduced with this game. I'm probably not going to use the Witch Doctor much simply because I'm in love with the Wizard so far, but I'm not opposed to this skill. I'm just not going to say "wow, that's really cool". I'm more for pure elemental or non-elemental magic, anyway.

I'm a little opposite. I LOVE the witch doctor. He's the best class yet. But the skill is still a bit lame. Although that painting of the WD with some frog friends is sick.

I agree... The Witch Doctor's Plague of Toads is lame
Quote from "Kwic" »
To me- the idea of frogs against Diablo is very lame.
You say- it looks fun. The same as flying exploading pigs would look 'fun'.
But Diablo should be a 'bit' more serious than that. I don't say that this skill is not effective and doesn't look nice, but the 'fun' and visual effect of the spell shouldn't be considered most important if it doesn't fit the realm.
C'mon people, you really like the IDEA of fighting against Diablo and killing him by toads? Doesn't this sound like hidden 'cow' lvl which was supposed to be a cool joke? lol. This just isn't serious for the game like this even though it might look super fun (for kids).
And it's obvious that Bashiok will be defending the idea, what else can he say- that it sucks?
cheers
How does Plague of Cherries sound? Or Plague of Slugs? "Catch that sand creaper, my slugs!"
While toads are not my favorite idea at the moment, they can do much worse. If you don't like it, don't put skill points into it. I, for one, like to see that there is a little variety injected into this genre instead of seeing the umpteenth version of magic missile (yawn).
Also, I would think this skill would be pretty useful in a duel, representing a boon to your character as they seek out and distract your opponent while you ready your real damage spell. Or who knows, maybe toads can kill by themselves!
BTW, don't dismiss barb's find potion just yet, people. We might be singing it's praises in a world where potions will be rare and likely saved for bosses only. That is, if it returns.
