I like the flat character profile with equipment slots. Never cared for the 3d view of my character in the equipment screen, I can see my character fine in game. Good on them for leaving the vanity mirror to WoW. Maybe I'm just old school...
The overall information was rather sparse... still, the screens are fun.
Yes, I think they supplied better screenshots than information. They really have answered alot of my questions, and I haven't even finished looking at them.
Okay i dont know if anyone has talked about this yet. But in the inventory, i love how they are bringing back the silouete from diablo 1. I think this makes it stand out more then in diablo 2.
Love the look of the screen shots.
The way the skill layout looked was pretty sweet.
And i think the way they figured out the inventory situation where you have tabs for big, small, and quest items was a good move.
Since we are bringing up what we liked...
Did anyone notice this:
I especially liked the stain glass money bag, and the heads on the upper center of each screen this guy brought up. More Diabloie.
We *think* it's the talisman. There's no factual evidence. Just strong insinuations based on old information. Hence we can assume that it's the talisman, even if lacking in factual evidence. It is a reasonable assumption based on the information to which we are privvy.
I assumed you knew I was basing my judgement off of assumptions. The active members of that discussion have instilled a kind of common-knowledge on that subject. I'm glad you took time to explain what a reasonable assumption is.
My point is that we don't actually know that it's the talisman. We just think it is, based on what we believe to be true. Until Blizzard actually tells us that it's the talisman, we just don't know.
We all know it isn't named yet. We are not going to call it 'mysterious gear square X'. I am just trying to find it a name that can suit it.
I hope for April fools, they put up a big update where they changed Diablo's art style to make it darker and in some people's vocabulary "diablo(1)y). And then of course have somthing completely over the top to show it off.
I understand that your character is visible on screen.
I am a stickler for details. I like to see the texturing, the lighting and the mapping on models. Seeing a character that's an inch tall on screen doesn't allow me that opportunity. Like I said, I'm 100% okay with the inventory system the way it is now, IF the player is capable of zooming in.
I think that, in the best interest of the consumer, that there should be an option to change this view via user options. They already have the old style so why not allow us to switch between styles of character view. This wouldn't be mess anything up, really, because the item icons can just scale to the correct ratio.
Anyways, I'll deal with whatever they come up with but I'm always for the "why not" additions whenever possible
I've seen many gaudy warriors (Lotr, etc.) that seem to follow suit with over three rings. And don't say you can't compare Lotr jewelry to D3 jewelry, because you can (based on a aesthetic purpose).
They can add as many ring slots as they want, it ultimately comes down to the more they add, the more they have to downgrade the existing ones. Or else you'd get like 80% of your stats from your rings.
I could definitely see additional rings being cool. That perhaps each finger could only wear certain types of rings so you couldn't stack the "best" ones. Like your ring fingers can wear any ring while your other fingers need fitted rings that only maintain certain stats.
The reason for one ring on each hand is actually based story background, and not just a balance issue. Two rings on one hand actually causes them to negate each other, making them useless.

Not that i disagree. Having more than 2 rings is silly, in that it would cause them to have to severally tone down what rings do. People like strong items, not lots of little weak ones.
But out of curiosity exactly where in the story does it ever say anything like that?

I need to get some sugar or go to bed now.
It's not Diablo specific lore. It's the explanation for every RPG.
