I wonder how these companies can get away w/ this kind of crap. YOu would think Blizzard and others would put an official stop to it, atleast a statement stating them to not put a release date.
REason i say its wrong is because there unjustly taking money from people who think something is pre-ordering.
The video game industry is going better than ever. I suppose we might see some effects, but it doesn't seem like it'll be anything major.
with all due respect, I'd like to tell you that you're far from right PhrozenDragon.
Blizzard, like all gaming companies (& 90% of businesses), has been greatly affected by this financial crisis.
If you had any stocks in ActivisionBlizzard, or have been keeping an eye out on their stock prices you'd know that they went down from around $34 USD from when they first joined, all the way down to $8 USD today... that's a pretty harsh fall for a giant like Blizzard, and even the release of WoW: WotLK wasn't able to save them.
The gaming industry is just as threatened by the financial crisis as any industry if not more so than the others. People aren't able to dish out $60 for every game they want any more. Also investors are pulling out and running with as much, or as little as they can right now, and I bet you if you look at the figures of WoW subscribers you'll see that Blizzard will loose at least 2 million subscribers within this quarter.
My worries about Diablo III aren't based on nothing my friend, they're legitimate, very legitimate.

Wrath of the Lich King is the fastest selling computer game of all time. Even without a financial crisis it couldn't possibly have performed any better at release than it did.
Blizzard is largely autonomous as a gaming company. I develops and releases games independently of any other company, as opposed to car manufacturers and banks which are intertwined with each other and depends on suppliers etc. This means Blizzard can't as easily be dragged down as other industries.
You may be right, but I don't see the video-game industry taking a fall here. Especially not Blizzard. WoW players will cut down on a lot before they cut their 12USD a month payment.

Fair enough. Apparently Britain is feeling the effects quite severely too, because pretty much every financial transaction in the world goes through London.
I just hope the development speed doesn't slow down because of the financial crisis.
This is good.
Whatever, we wait official game release. I trust Blizzard team. I hope this game will be soon...
P.S. I waited this game 3 years so I shall wait as early as one year another. I shall just take holiday on work, after I did buy the Game.
