The Diablo series is among those touchstone gaming experiences that many of us RPG types grew up relishing. If to this day your MP3 collection isn't complete without "Tristram" and other tracks from Matt Uelman's masterful Diablo 2 score, we understand each other. So, when the opportunity to interview Diablo 3 Lead Designer Jay Wilson came up, we fell over ourselves rearranging our Leipzig GC schedule even though this isn't Ten Ton Hammer's standard MMORPG fare.
Learn how Blizzard hopes to capture the essence of Diablo & Diablo 2 and even take Diablo 3 beyond its predecessors in a variety of ways, not the least of which is an updated control scheme and an fast-paced approach to combat that can only be described as epic, even by Diablo terms. Get the skinny on the boss fights you saw in the D3 trailer, gather some hints on the changes in store for Blizzard's multiplayer portal, Battle.net, and see much more in this ten minute video!
One of the things I hated about D2 was the fact that it took you tons of time and resources to find some unique item, and then it turns out that it's stats are too low. I mean, aren't unique weapons supposed to be... unique? This was especially lame with +skill modifier randomization.
I'm glad to hear that boss battles will actually be battles rather than boring clickfests that require no skill. Just wonder how well they will be able to pull it off.
I'm excited that more items are going to be shown on the characters like boots, gloves, shoulder pads, etc. In the beginning of the gameplay video, the cold and lightning axes that they equip to the barb. actually look different in gameplay as well.
I have a question to native speakers of english. Do you understand 100% of what Jay said? Or there are some words which you couldn't catch?
Yeah, I understood him, but Jay Wilson has that annoying voice pattern that makes him end every sentence sounding like he's asking a question. He does slur some words some times, too.
I get a feeling Jay doesn't really like interviews. You could see how much more comfortable he was talking about what he liked about the game. Still, it's good that he's doing so many interviews. He puts a lot of time into it.

D3 Pros: Outdoors environment, night time environment, female Barbarian, rune spell system, the Wizard class
D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
Is there anyway to read what is beeing said in that video plz?, it's pretty hard to hear what they're saying with all that noise, audio ain't good quality at all.
Nothing new, as usuall.. but it's still cool to see Jay everytime he speaks on diablo 3, he's jsut awesome! we all need to wait for Blizzcon 08' to come..
Oh and btw, the interviewer is so freakin' annoying.. lol, he get's a little better at the end bu I think they should have choose someone else.. =\
And the quality of sound is terrible.. they at least could give Jay a mic.. jesus.. that's so not professional..
haha jay wilson must be tired of repeating the same ol philosophy explanation for diablo 3 and defense of the art style. Seen so many interviews where he has said almost the exact same words.

My name is Garrett Fuller and I work for TenTonHammer.com.
That is me in the video chatting with Jay Wilson, I am happy to see it linked on Diablofans.com.
Sorry for some of the sound, our sound system is very good, but for some reason with this interview we were having issues.
I will try to work on a transcript of the interview, however it takes a long time to do.
When we post it on TenTon I will make sure to link it for you all.
I hope you enjoyed the interview, I'll be at BlizzCon as well and hoping to get the chance to chat with Jay again.
Maybe I'll see some of you there in Oct.
Cheers,
Garrett

Hm... You must have clicked on a wrong link or something. Not everything "new" has to be a new character class or a new act.
