they should have more organised pvp system possibly with special pvp rooms. the pvp could also be more goal oriented such as a certain number of kills to win the game or round then it would reset and the winner might get a small amount of gold from each other person in the room. although for this to work the classes would have to be much more balanced than in diablo2 where pvp was between just mages, pallys, and assassins (sometimes necromancers) all with cookie cutter skills.
An auction house sounds appealing; I would like it to sound darker and more Gothic though (remind you of any petitions??). How about.... Bartering Monastery. Haha, really though... being able to trade without chat rooms/making trading games would be really nice. While this suggestion is nothing original, I think it would be a neat feature to be able to offer items which you have rather than making gold the only currency for the auction house.
Also I would not mind seeing dual leach-neon green-skull helmets! Although not all classes are making a comeback, I think certain items should definitely be converted to 3D in D3.
For PvP I would love to see D3 have some sort of character sheet that keeps track of duels, players killed, times killed, etc. I would also like to see some sort of formal duel system. Player consent should be required to PvP with someone on hardcore mode, if there is a hardcore mode for D3.
As far as trading goes, I would love to see an auction house type deal where players can sell there items, and some sort of listing where players can post items that they need, and buyers can send them offers.
so i dont get it can we only post 1 question or can we post 1 on each topic me confused i dont wanna get disqualified gahh
oh wait or multiple questions i c ok well here goes
Trading:I want it where when you put items up it says if your getting ripped off or not like 2 people each put up rare items it says whats rarity and worth and says if its good deal cause d3 for casual players to they dont wanna get scammed trust me happens to much from my own expierence lol
pvp: not sure if this has been said but make it where their is different modes like 1vs1 2vs2 team pvp etc and a pvp search system that goes with it like search for lvls or types of play and matches you up or gives list to choose from hope you liked my suggestions thanks! oh and one more thing if you dont mind rare items for pvp like if you do good in it or randomly you might get pvp oriented items in pvp or outside for use only in pvp thanks!
oh and one more thing and if i cant ask this many questions dont add it or if someone already said that would be cool if you where searching for a certant item and there was a part in battle net where you search for it and trade without going in a game or it takes the people that where going to trade both items they wanted and put them in a game it would be better to simplfy that lol.
Hey these are just some things I would like to see considered for Diablo 3's PvP and Trade systems.
PvP
Banner Planting/Corpse Humiliation- Kind of aesthetic-only but adds an option to plant a banner in another players body after killing them. Could give your character a cool animation to do after a tough 1v1 PvP situation and a nice screenshot to go along with it. Merely a bad-ass /flex feature to make PvP a bit more rewarding. Blizz could even go further with this, allowing you to do cool gruesome things to other player's corpses like impaling their bodies on spikes as we saw done to some of the Rogue sisters in Diablo 2.
Video Playback System- An option for allowing you to replay awesome kills. Almost as in Madden games, you could have it play back the last 10-20-30 seconds of game-play footage before every PvP kill. Players can select how long the video is based on their own hardware limitations so that not everyone has to be lagged out by it or anything.
Dueling System- A true Dueling system that allows for more bravado in the realm of Dueling, setting it apart from just random PvP. Challenges could be issued with wagers or taunts that could be broadcasted over the entire game world. When other players doing other things see the broadcast they could have the option to become a bystander in which they could witness the duel. Then players could select an arena in which to fight. Players could wager items or money on the duel, though I am not sure what the limitations are on gambling for online games and ratings or whatever. Basically sets Dueling apart from plain ol' PvP.
Momentum Building- An orb or item that functions similar to the health orbs already seen. When the player kills another player the orb appears over the dead player's corpse which the victor could pickup for a random buff. Could be anything from +1 to all skills to a basic hp regeneration or even an increased attacking speed. Buffs could get better if you pick up more orbs, so chain killing three people would make your character pretty pumped up just like you as the player would be. Would basically allow for those all out slayerfest style battles to have a kind of spiking adrenaline level to them that further engages you in PvP.
Player Run Dungeons- An option when creating a world, allows a player to be assigned a randomly generated dungeon of a certain selectable overall type in which other players could raid. However the player has mobs on his side and/or a small amount of other players in which to fight the invading dungeon runners. Meshes a PvP environment with a PvPvEvPv eh you get it.
Clans- Introducing a clan system could bring some interesting PvP mechanics to the game as seen in other games such as Lineage 2. Clan vs Clan and other events could be encouraged to further develop the PvP system, For instance a type of game where clans compete to kill the most demons in a battlefield style area although PvP is allowed throughout the map making it a cooperative team effort. Furthermore it seems like a successful part of other games that Diablo 3 could only improve upon.
Anti Ganking Measures- Well personally I think that ganking in Diablo 2 made sense and was fun. But a good portion of people thought it indicated no skill or some other such nonsense. To remedy this a player could perhaps tick an option when creating a world that would introduce a small anti-ganking system that could go something like this: Player A, level 80, kills Player B, 24. Player A then receives a debuff which temporarily makes him level 24. Thus when Player B respawns he has a chance to at least get away or fight back. I feel that it would be a total wuss move to go the WoW PvE realm style and get rid of ganking in general for Diablo 3 so something like this option could at least mix it up a bit.
Trade
PvP and Trade Achievements- I think it is an obvious addition that Blizzard will implement eventually to all their games. Being able to compare your "Most Players Killed without Dying" achievement to your friend is a great concept. I think that Diablo could take the WotLK inspired mechanic by applying it to trade as well. Things like "highest amount of gold earned in an auction" and "number of items sold" could make the trading economy of Diablo 3 a game in itself. Achievements could give way to novelty items or even Titles like everyone seems to be clamoring about.
Auctions- A certain problem in the Diablo 2 economy was that gold had no worth. So a few have suggested that gold become the true currency in Diablo 3. Others have said that it should be hard core bartering again. The solution lies in between. A system that implements Auctions or Brows-able Wares outside of the game world could be a great way to address both wants. Players could put up an Item for a certain amount of gold/ a list of different items acceptable for bartering/or nothing but their name so that a player could barter with them in person. Furthermore trading would have to be allowable out side of the individual game worlds. Blizz still hasn't confirmed how Diablo 3 will even run on battle.net yet though so this is merely a system that would have greatly served Diablo 2.
Trading PvP- OK this is a weird idea. What if Players could trade stocks of sorts in other Player's PvP results. Almost like a Fantasy Football or Baseball league of sorts that revolves around active PvPers. So let's say a group of players buys up stocks in a certain player. Then every week they receive a certain amount of Gold or Points or something to the effect of some type of return. The amount of Gold or Points or whatever is determined by how well that player has done in PvP. Thus we have a system that is both PvP and Trade oriented. If the weekly return was some type of point system then certain rewards or goodies could be available to people when they had enough points. Then at the end of a "season" (like in a fantasy sports league) players with the most points would get some kinda big reward. Of course there would need to be regulations like a player can only invest in three different people or one of each class or something to that effect. It is also cool cause it kind of makes celebrities of good PvPers which adds incentive and something extra for the PvP aspect of the game as well. Not to mention the fact that fantasy sports leagues are f-ing addicting and combining that with Diablo, another wtf-addicting game, leads to you having no life left.
Thanks guys, hope this entertained some people. I know some of those ideas are kind of out there.
I would love for them to make the game more...mysterious...like Diablo 1 was. Say, the way to get to Diablo, or get Arkaines valor...loved it. Just didn't have that ouch in d2 which made playing it through a little less exciting then it could have been.
Mystery....puzzles...rumors...moo moo farm...and how come in Diablo 2, whne you have the whole cow king set equipped it didn't turn u into a moo-moo? (you know, like the trang set turns u into a ghoul...would have loved to have a druid moo-moo)
Trading: More than anything else, I would like to see absolutely NO bind on pickup items. In my opinion this completely ruins any sense of immersion in the game. Why in the world would I not be able to trade an item just because I have used it? Makes no sense. The best thing in Diablo II was that you can trade anything at any time.
A global auction house/trade center would be fantastic. Going back and playing Diablo II really shows this (trading) to be a glaring problem without using a forum.
PvP-wise I would like to be sure that it isn't just a one-shot-kills-fest that Diablo II became. I hated how high runes were required (yes required) to do any sort of PvP. Playing legit, it can take quite a bit of time to gather enough runes to make a decent item and still you will be far far behind the people that somehow have a hoto/2 botd/engima in the first week of ladder. Also, I'm adamantly against the idea of battlegrounds or arena. Arena gear is bad enough for game balance in WoW; I certainly don't want that in Diablo!
Game is looking great so far guys, keep up the good work! Cheers, Llama
Here are my suggestions on what would help make what I'm sure is already going to be a great game, even better. (I have a feeling this is going to turn into a wall of text...)
Thoughts on PVP
Having played Diablo 2 for many years, I was never able to really get into the PVP aspect of it. Why? Because it was so random. You'd hop into a game, people would hostile you, and you'd leave the town to see what was going on and die 2 seconds into the wilderness. Duels usually weren't duels, and they weren't fair. But there's a lot that can be changed to fix it:
First off, I think that when you create a game, you should be able to create a game as PVP or PVE. If you create a PVE game, then you're safe. No one will hostile you, jump through a portal and gank you while you're exploring a dungeon. In diablo 2 there was no way to actually do a true PVE game to quest with friends, but this is one way that would fix this.
But what would a PVP game do? Well, there are a few ways to handle this. One would be to have any player you are not grouped with be attackable outside of cities/towns. This, more than creating a PVP setting, would do a much bigger thing: It would allow team vs team. Create a game, mark it as PVP, and get 6 players in there. Then you can have 3 group together, and the other 3 group. Now you've instantly got yourself a 3v3 battle, with the entire world as your stadium. Don't like team battles? Drop teams and you've got yourself a free-for-all. Depending on the number of players allowed in the game, you could even have more than 2 teams. Team battles were extremely hard to coordinate in Diablo 2, and this is one thing that would help alleviate that problem.
Another thing that steered me away from Diablo 2 PVP was losing gold and such in PVP. While it makes sense to drop items and gold when killing in PVE, in PVP you're constantly dying and such, and the game would flow much better without it. One way to make it not completely penalty-less would be to allow a "wager" to be set on a PVP game. When dying, you'll lose that much gold (which could be even distributed to players not on your team who are in range, or something). That way, players who just want to have fun don't need to worry about dropping their gold in some remote location and forgetting it, they can simply have a "Duels for fun, 0 wager" game.
And one final gripe I had about D2 PVP is that it took place about 10 yards from the bridge in the first camp. There was never any variety in location. One way I think that could help this problem is to allow player free access to where his dead body is (at least in PVP flagged games). This could be in the style of running as a ghost, such as in World of Warcraft, or simply having a aura of immunity until you get within X yards of your body. Or, another different approach would be that if you die in a PVP environment, don't take the player back to town. Simply leave the player as a ghost at their body when they die, and give them a spawn timer before they can resurrect within a few screens of their body. This idea may sound useless, but I feel that it would help PVP in that you could PVP wherever you want. For example, a nice PVP spot would have been on Arreat Summit up with the statues and columns. However, being pushed back to town and then returning through a port/WP would allow players to camp those areas. But dying and being able to res a few screens from your body would allow players quick access back into the battle, but by being able to res a little bit away from their body (or coming back with immunity) they are able to get back into the battle without being camped at the entry point, something that really bothered me in the last game.
While none of these ideas are serious issues, I feel that they would really help create a better atmosphere of PVP in the game, and draw in new audiences.
Thoughts on Trading
Trading is something I really enjoyed about Diablo 2. There is something about finding a perfect unique item, and being able to barter with people for something you really want. However, it can be a hassle trying to sort through games or create games and hope people see your "Occy 4 Trade" game in the huge list of games.
One way this can be improved is an in-game marketplace where players can list their items. However, it wouldn't be like an auctionhouse (though it could be), it would simply be a searchable listing of items that people currently want to trade. A nice addition would be to search by player, so a player can set up "shop" and people can look at the list of all items a certain player has that they would like to trade.
Now rather than just listing it and buying it for gold (because gold is never a great currency in Diablo), they would be able to contact the seller. Contacts could be done through whisper (though this could be annoying at times), or through a "trade mailbox" that a player has. People would see an item on the tradepost, and send the owner an offer mail. Then players could visit the tradepost and check all the offers they have (possibly send some sort of notice to a player any time they get an offer). Offers could be done simply, as text. Or possibly, offers could literally be the items. That way if someone finds an offer in their box that they like, rather than having to track down the player next time they are on, the player could accept the offer, and the items would be exchanged. So it would be something like:
Player A places Unique Staff on tradepost with a message that they want a certain set helmet
Player B sees A's staff and offers 100,000g and a rare helmet (Player A gets a notice)
Player C sees A's staff and offers the set helmet A is looking for (Player A gets a notice)
Player A checks the offers, declines B's, and accepts C's. Player A recieves the set helmet, and player C gets the staff in the mail/tradebox.
This would allow trading to go on at a much quicker rate, and would also get rid of the need for outside means of trading (the many different forums outside of game that people post their items and what they want on them). I also feel this would create a much more even economy, as people could see what others are asking for their items, and people wouldn't naively accept low offers not knowing what the item they just found is worth.
Conclusion
I'm extremely excited for Diablo 3, and hope to see it soon. And hopefully we'll see some systems like these in it.
My suggestions concerning trading features and pvp features.
PvP- We need a more focused system here, this cat and dog chasing around maps gets old, fast. Hardcore mode pvp is such a waste, you work your butt off to play russian rollette with someone of equal or greater power, reward?.. Gear; loss..?;everything.
I think it needs to be refined with a better system, why can't gladiator type arenas be thrown in, or game types with pvp objectives, maybe races; like beating another player in a race that deals with killing tons of really difficult bosses in a set time frame?.. The game is after all a fast paced hack'n'slash. Why not have different game types setup for pvp, or npcs you could go to an engage in these events by talking to them and choosing where you'd like to compete. Like for instance- Be the last man standing in a deathmatch, where the spin is. You have to survive against the opposing players, and an onslaught of helacious demons that are there willing to tear you limb from limb- Reward, possibly amazing loot? Because it doesn't have to cater to all those people who wish to pvp, cause again it's arena style, the strongest player or most strategically skilled player will stand victorious.
In reality there just has to be more than, player-x, + kills player-y.. = bragging rights and an ear, or gear if you're on hardcore mode. There needs to be something more engaging to the player. That's the jist of what my opinions on pvp as it was in diablo 2 and where I think pvp should go in diablo 3.
Trading system-
Bartering is outdated, there really needs to be a set currency even if this game is co-op. Why can't there be caravan of sorts that you can drop items off at that you want to sell to other players, and any other player in the game could go to the caravan and purchase your item for a set price, or bid on the item. A mailing system needs to be implemented some how. By now I hope everyone realizes that a game like diablo, you sure as hell create more than one character. And many a time do players find some amazingly useful item that doesn't fit the character they found it on but would greatly suit another one in their arsenal. Maybe change gold with a lower metal?; keep it but have it worth more in it's respects. Like for instance 1000 copper = 1 gold, make copper heavily readily available like gold drops were in diablo 2.
Diablo's main flaws were these two systems, and I think it's great that they've been brought up for discussion. I know my ideas aren't wholely original ( or that's what I'm expecting ), but I believe they're noteworthy. Diablo 2 was and still is one of my most favorite games of all time, and if Diablo 3 can pick up on a couple of places where diablo 2 lacked. It can definitely be up there as one of the greatest video games ever made. Not many games can make you feel like a god in it's respects. Diablo did just that, made you feel more than human in the game world set in sanctuary. Keeping the formula from diablo 2 to diablo 3 is a great plus, but lets throw some more calculations in there.
Sorry for some of the mangled sentences, I wrote this at 2:30 in the morning; after coming back from the midnight movie release of deathrace.
I'd like to see item linking in chat for easier viewing of item stats. Also, an in-game wardrobe to see how my character would look like when I equip certain items.
Trading:
Auction houses may be the best place for selling / buying items but it kind of makes trading a bore as everything is done automatically. I personally prefer the buyer / seller to be to take a more active role in trading rather than just say, "Hey I need this, so I'll go to the AH". I feel Diablo should not go that way as WoW has did. Trading was pretty fun thing for me during the days of D2 and I hope it would remain like it was, for the most part at least.
Trading sometimes could be very frustrating for people as they have to always be present when he wants to sell something and yet it takes too much time to wait for a buyer. A possible feature could be a person being able to setup a shop in a game whereby he can list the item for a certain price and then go afk while people can just join in the game and see what is for sale by viewing the shop and purchasing them if they want to.
PvP:
Having duels in which players do not actually die but lose when they have 1 hp left. (For people in HC who wants to duel but do not want to die)
Reward for winning a duel: Players participating in a duel can place items / gold as a wager in which the winner of the duel will be the owner of it.
The trading system in Diablo 2 was not bad, I liked it... but I have some ideas that I think will make it better.
There should some sort or some variation of an auction house in the game. Yes, this probably has been mentioned many many times, but here's my idea for going about it. In Battlenet 2.0, there would be a "Chat" Tab, and a "Trade" Tab. The Chat Tab would obviously be where you can switch between all the different chat channels, chat and join games.
The 'Trade' Tab would be where players can list what item(s) they have for trade and then they can add a description and put how much gold they want for it, or what items they would accept in exchange for the item. They can also add multiple tags (from a drop down list of tags, so it makes it easier to search by tags) to the item they are listing if they want. When the item is listed it will appear on the list of items in the "auction house" and will show the Lister's Name, The Items Name (and if you cursor over the name it will show you what tags are on it, if any), and a description. There will also be a button which you can click on to send a message to the Lister. This way whoever is interested could message the lister, and when he checks his inbox he will see who's offer interests him the most, and he'll message him back. It will also obviously list the time the message was sent, so if two people made the same offer, he would know who made the offer first.
IE: | Jugzor | MSG ME | Jalal's Mane |Perfect- I want 50 gold pieces or a SoJ for this item. |
You can also search the "Auction House" for exactly what you want. You can search by authors name, and or item's name, and or tag(s).
Obvously It doesn't have to be exactly like I drew it.. its just a rough example of what it would be like. I would be even better if you could Link the item instead of typing it's name in when you list it so it can show us our stats, I dont know how you would be able to link it from outside of a game though. You get the idea right? Well anyway, thats that.
A few more (some obvious) important points on trading and items:
-Botting and Duping especially needs to be eliminated for the economy to be succesful
-Gold should have value
-I stiill think that 'rare items' that happen to have the right combination of stats and bonuses should be (one of) the most powerful item in the game for its slot and build, as is in Diablo 2.
-Sets should be improved upon. Most sets in Diablo II were not very good compared to what else you can get. This might however have been a result of duping the items that are way better then those set items.
-There should be runewords! They were interesting and fun, just need to be careful with what runewords there are. (IE: No enigma imo). On a side note, crafting should be kept too if possible. I wanst a huge crafter but there were some interesting items from it.
-When you make a trade, and you both hit the checkmark, there should be a a popup box that says "Are you sure?" and lets you review the items you're trading, and the other person is trading. And once both hit yes, the trade will go through, but if someone says no then the trade wont go through. Just to prevent noobs from getting scammed, even though they should make sure whats being traded anyway =\ But this way they have no excuse.
-A stash that all your characters on your account can access would be excellent!
-Oh, and no Bind on Pickup!! =D
PvP:
I actually really enjoyed the PvP system in Diablo II alot. Duels, PKing, the whole 9 yards. There are some features that I think, although maybe not all that necessary, would make PvP in the game more fun.
Arenas: I was thinking it would work like when you create a game, theres an 'PvP' option. And when you enter the game there is a special sword and shield on the floor (That only the game creator can pick up, and that cannot be equipted). When you put this sword and shield in the hoardric cube (assuming the hoardric cube is making a comeback) a portal will appear.
When you go through this portal, its like going to a new act, you go through the loading screen and everything. When you go through the portal you are taken to a bloody arena, and the players are all in the stands overlooking the arena. Then once there are two or more people through the portal this is how it will work..
Player one challenges player two
Player three challenges player four
Player two accepts the challenge. They are queued for battle one. Proceed to the arena.
Player five challenges player six
Player four accepts the challenge. They are queued for battle two. Battle two will start when battle one is done.
Player six accepts the challenge. They are queued for battle three. Battle two will start when battle two is done.
And so when its you're turn, a portal appears that only you and your opponent can go through, and once both are through, they appear each on opposite sides of the arena. Both players get a debuff where they cannot move or cast offensive spells for 15 seconds once they are both through.. tihs allows for buffs.
Just an idea, obviously it can be tweaked, this was just an idea of mine. Could even go as far as being able to group up and have for example group one challenge group two and that get into the queue. Can also make it so potions are restricted inside, the possibilities are endless. You can also just choose to not transmute the sword and shield, and just PvP like normal outside of town like in Diablo 2.
Besides that idea, aslong as classes are balanced and well designed, i think all should be well.
Also, and achievements tab would be nice to keep track of things like how many player kills we have, how many diablo kills and things like that would be nice.
I'm not trying to tell blizzard what to do or anything like that if i'm coming off like that, i know blizzard will do whats right for the game to make it great. As of right now i'm happy with the games direction.
Trading Right i would like to see some sort of system whilst you are in the chat channels that you can actually set your character up to be able to sell items in the actual chat channel by setting your character in let's say Vendor mode so people can right click your character and a shop pane will appear with your prices for your items. As i would like to see Gold actually be worth alot more in Diablo 3.
PVP Now i see alot of people talking about an Arena idea for PVP but i would like to expand on that idea and put a more sinister twist on it. I would like to see Monster Arenas which could have so many different modes.
First mode Monster Mayhem You fight other players in different sized arenas but there are random traps and monsters scattered around to make your fights that little bit more interesting.
Second Mode Party Mayhem Now this would involve 2 or more parties of players fighting waves of monsters to see who can kill the most monsters whilst hindering each other by being able to kill the opposite party, I think this would add a competitive edge to an Arena mode.
Third Mode The Dungeon Crawl Now this could be free for all or Party Orientated. It would basically be a race to the end of a dungeon where you would have to get to the boss and kill it first Or get a certain item. But the twist would be that you can attack other players and kill them to stop them from getting to the end of the dungeon and beating the boss first.
Fourth Mode Dagger in the Haystack Now with this mode it could be similar to the Dungeon Crawl except you are placed in a random map with the opposite team and you have to find a certain item for example lets say "The Golden Dagger" There would be loads of monsters around but you would be given a clue on which kind of monster in that map would drop it so it would be a race to get that Dagger. But once you get that Dagger you would have to get it to your base to win the round.
Fifth Mode Capture the Totem This is basically your standard capture the flag kinda of mode but you would have the choice of adding monsters to the game or not.
Now there could be lots of different rewards for doing so well in these modes. There could also be varying difficulties aswell. But because of the random dungeons you could have a massive amount of different Arenas and Maps available
Thanks for reading my suggesions i hope you liked them.
With so many possible character builds, people are always discussing their gear with one another, what their stats and skills are, how much damage they do, what their chances of blocking are, etc, etc.
Sometimes the whole process of hashing out a player's character and describing it to someone else can be a lot of effort in ratio to its payoff. So I've thought since I realized this how nice it would be to have a kind of character screen capture function in Diablo 3.
Basically, whatever all the characters stats and skills are, this function could save a printer and forum friendly file that comprehensively lists these things, including all items being used. I've discussed my various Battle.net characters with so many other players, as they have with me. While I do enjoy this kind of discourse with other Diablo fans, I also would enjoy being able to give them all my character information in the form of a character summary report.
Just like we push the PrtSc button to capture an image, so too could this function capture a set of data all at once. Only the data is a detailed (or less specific, if the player preferred) report on a character's current stats, skills, and equipment.
This would allow players to more easily discuss possible character builds, show off stats to one another, and even do side-by-side comparisons of characters to see how they might measure up in PvP mode.
The ultimate appeal in the Diablo franchise for me has always been the immersing storyline, rich atmosphere, and engrossing music and NPC dialogue. But that doesn't mean I don't love to get technical every now and then with my Battle.net characters and have conversations with other players about their characters as well. To be able to hit a single key that captures all my player information in a printer or forum friendly format, would not only pander to my compulsive tendencies, but help further the Diablo gaming culture aspect of character perfection and/or experimentation.
First I'd like to say that I really love what I have seen so far. However in Diablo II I would like to see a change in the online play. Hacks and editors and stuff like that. There is just to much of it and it ruins stuff for a lot of people. Also I would like to see PvP taking place in a more specific location rather then just outside of town. Perhaps a colusseum in one of the acts where people could duel for ears. Furthermore, I think there should be no respecs in the skill tree, one of the things I loved about diablo was that you had to think about what you were doing and if you did something wrong, well thats just too bad. So when you had a skill set you were really proud of people would go "damn why didn't I think of that?"
Also one thing that I absolutely do not want to go missing is the boss runs, no limitations or stuff like that. You kill a boss and then you can kill him again and again and again for phat lewts The game itself is awesome, but what makes it the best game in the world is the unique/set item addiction, you just wanna run around collecting items forever until you have all of them, which will be never, which is great!
Also another thing I forgot to mention is that it would be awesome to be able to easily trade between your characters. People are going to do it anyway so why not make it easy, perhaps some sort of shared bank or mailing system.
1) Have battle.net be like a captial city. When you log into battle.net your characters are loaded into one of many captial cities. In these cities you woudl be able to barter trade with others, form up groups, guilds, etc.
2) Have links Auction Houses in each captial city. These auction houses would be link between each captial city, making a more conhesive battle.net economy. In addition to making trading in general easier.
I think the trading system worked well enough in D2. Maybe for PvP there could be random drops as if you defeated any other enemy in the game. Perhaps even a unique item or 2 that only drops when you defeat another player. PvP tournaments would create an environment where players have to fight for the chance to get them instead of just letting them exploit the game for a free unique.
A bartering style trade post where players:
1) Post items they wish to trade
2) Browse for items for trade
Pretty basic, there needs only be some sort of mechanism in game to allow players to accept/reject offers as well as make offers. An in game notification that an offer has been received, accepted or rejected will allow the player to adventure without having to check items too often.
PvP - Spruce it up a bit by creating a team PvP mode and perhaps some special PvP areas/content/items. READ this does not mean an arena. This means an area where there are PvP goals that reward PvP items, usable only in the PvP area. This would eliominate any need to balance PvE and PvP. Any player could enter/create games in this area this area upon meeting some sort of quest/level requirement.
PvP - Create a ranking system for PvP that is shown on BNet for these teams, and perhaps for the 100 top solo killers as well.

Dear God,
Please protect me from your followers.
Amen.
PVP:
I would like to see a match making system where you can go in as a team or solo and rank up and receive rewards or buffs based on your level in match making or specific achievements. PVP tournies would also be a great addition with the winners receiving titles or some kind of spot light until the next tourny and someone else takes the title from them. I also also think it would be cool to have a hardcore tourny held every few weeks where the characters in the tourny actually die and drop all their equipment(for the winner to take) so the number one spot will mean that much more. Some sort of replay or video could also be uploaded to the diablo site so people can watch the duel finals. also agreeing on bets before a duel would be fun with the players betting items or gold and the winner getting what the other player bet.
Trading:
The one thing I've always wanted is being able to trade on the site by make offers and searching for deals. Be able to set up my own small shop on the website and say what i want for what or what ill give for something and people can search through my stuff and confirm the trade right on the site.
I was thinking maybe Blizzard could once they get D3 out and it has been out among the fans for a while start up a tournament that happens once or twice a year, where they have actually made up special maps where PvP can happen, and this tournament is monitored by blizzard staff and also recorded for download later for poeple to see and watch and learn from others.
And as players win they knock out the other player from the tournament and move ahead to the next round and so on until there is a winner named, and at the end they are rewarded with some extreamly rare and powerful equipment that you cant just find in the game anywhere, and also given a special title and i was also thinking for a trophy a piece of the worldstone and maybe the tournament could be called The Worldstone Tournament, or something that might sound better.
I just think this might be a good way to encourage players to think and work towards finding that right character and character build that suits them so that they can put up a fight and also give them a goal to work towards and hopefully come out in the end with something to show for it rather then just telling everyone they are better because their character is lvl 80 something while the others are at a lower lvl.
Also it might help players to understand more the strengths and weaknesses of each class and just how many different ways you can play each by just focusing on different skills, and weapons.
And if all else fails We could all get a laugh out of watching some of the download vids of fights to see how battles really happened.

Also I would not mind seeing dual leach-neon green-skull helmets! Although not all classes are making a comeback, I think certain items should definitely be converted to 3D in D3.
As far as trading goes, I would love to see an auction house type deal where players can sell there items, and some sort of listing where players can post items that they need, and buyers can send them offers.
oh wait or multiple questions i c ok well here goes
Has anyone ever seen the cow kings dance well i have its right here! http://youtube.com/watch?v=Cd2wyKQm13I

Mystery....puzzles...rumors...moo moo farm...and how come in Diablo 2, whne you have the whole cow king set equipped it didn't turn u into a moo-moo? (you know, like the trang set turns u into a ghoul...would have loved to have a druid moo-moo)
Here's something I made in paint that illustrates my idea.
http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ideamh5.jpg
I think thats all I can think of for now.
Right i would like to see some sort of system whilst you are in the chat channels that you can actually set your character up to be able to sell items in the actual chat channel by setting your character in let's say Vendor mode so people can right click your character and a shop pane will appear with your prices for your items. As i would like to see Gold actually be worth alot more in Diablo 3.
PVP
Now i see alot of people talking about an Arena idea for PVP but i would like to expand on that idea and put a more sinister twist on it. I would like to see Monster Arenas which could have so many different modes.
First mode Monster Mayhem
You fight other players in different sized arenas but there are random traps and monsters scattered around to make your fights that little bit more interesting.
Second Mode Party Mayhem
Now this would involve 2 or more parties of players fighting waves of monsters to see who can kill the most monsters whilst hindering each other by being able to kill the opposite party, I think this would add a competitive edge to an Arena mode.
Third Mode The Dungeon Crawl
Now this could be free for all or Party Orientated. It would basically be a race to the end of a dungeon where you would have to get to the boss and kill it first Or get a certain item. But the twist would be that you can attack other players and kill them to stop them from getting to the end of the dungeon and beating the boss first.
Fourth Mode Dagger in the Haystack
Now with this mode it could be similar to the Dungeon Crawl except you are placed in a random map with the opposite team and you have to find a certain item for example lets say "The Golden Dagger" There would be loads of monsters around but you would be given a clue on which kind of monster in that map would drop it so it would be a race to get that Dagger. But once you get that Dagger you would have to get it to your base to win the round.
Fifth Mode Capture the Totem
This is basically your standard capture the flag kinda of mode but you would have the choice of adding monsters to the game or not.
Now there could be lots of different rewards for doing so well in these modes. There could also be varying difficulties aswell. But because of the random dungeons you could have a massive amount of different Arenas and Maps available
Thanks for reading my suggesions i hope you liked them.
PvP definitely needs some sort of a ranking system, no real need for rewards but they would be a plus.
Trading obviously a simple auction house system of some kind and a dedicated trade chat channel.
Siaynoq's Playthroughs
Please protect me from your followers.
Amen.
