lol well expansions are to be expected with games like this, but all im seeing here in this article is blizzard doing a backflip and putting all or most of the shit people have been whining about into an exp just to make more cash out of it.
it seems as though thier pc releases come with expansions
sc=broodwar
d2=lod
wow=bc,wotlk
wc3=frozen throne
you would think a d3 exp is the inevitable
the witch doctor has fire like the sorc its pets are of those like the druid's summons with curses(and zombie wall(new bone wall)) like that of the necro...then it goes in its own direction with diseases..so it's not really the new necro but has necro like qualities
a necro could come back (maybe with poisons and bone) but i dont know what else it could have..corpses dissapear so you couldn't really cast revives and skeletons...something tells me it would be like a warlock capturing souls to summon undead(or dead) soldiers then a bone skill tree then maybe a seperate tree for poisons or something completely different
we dont even know when the regular d3 is coming but we'll probably have to wait 3-4 years for an expansion

Who says you need corpses to summon a skele? they can come from the ground like mongrels
Good news indeed, I liked the Necro, wasn't my favorite class but the fact that you could just summon stuff and watch the show from way behind was a great game mechanic. Saying that I would like every class to be back in D3 wouldn't fit. I would prefer to discover a whole new and unique class than just playing the same old class with same skills. If the necro is back, I bet there will be no Bone Walls. Simply because it's much more fun for a game developper to create than imitate. And I think everyone, when they will open their D3 box will enjoy the new classes. 10 years without any change made with the class in Diablo just make the changes harder to take. But when everyone will be used to it, they will love how stuff changed, how new stuff came out and old stuff been replaced. My-2-cents.
BTW zombie wall is funny has hell. I will give it a shot for sure
While news on Diablo 3 is great and I am always waiting for more, this news just makes me shake my head. Honestly, everyone expects an expansion eventually, but at this point who cares. It seems like putting the cart before the horse. We need the game to be out at least a year before we can even really consider an expansion so this is more like no news at all.
like a wheelbarrow? lol ne way... i dont get why they dont just up the class number a small amount... im not talking like 30 chars but 7-8 classes one of which is the necro or like paladin, druid, sorc, necro, barb some kind of bow/crossbow wielding char, witchdoctor and whatever else they would like to include... just no assassin because that is shitty lol worst char ever xD
I used to use a laptop for any char, challenge a duel, just run around and on my main PC have hella traps and those hard striking attacks - catch them by surprise.
On topic, I never liked the Necro's look. He looks like an uglier Keanu Reeves aged 70.
I played him after I got 99 on all the other chars and collected the top gear with the perfect stats and it was some refreshing and interesting fun, a different angle to play the game from, but definitely not a stark raving mad first choice.
I don't have a favorite character. They all had their perspectives of great fun, a different approach.
I did find it fun beating the shit out of people with him on Open though, especially the Paladins with the quick three strike ability. Necro was a madman on Open.

Everyone on this forum needs to read the Sin War Trilogy before spewing out opinions as fact.
The Necro does not need corpses to do anything. They use the energy of the spirits and souls not the actual corpse. In the Sin War, when something dies, the spirits linger. If there is a Necro nearby, they will gather to him/her, then the Necro can resurrect the soul into a physical spirit or resurrect exactly how it was in life, with a little dirt on it.

Bullsh*t. Witch Doctor will replace the necro. end of story.
We'll see some new things and maybe new classes in the expension, but it won't be the necro for sure.
You're on the wrong forum bucko.
We are trying to design [the Witch Doctor] class so that if we did bring back the Necromancer, there’s room for him. We’re looking out ahead of time at what our expansions are going to be, so we’ve got to keep room open for some of those other classes down the road.”
The Necro will definately be in first expansion.:necro:
Anyone notice the use of the plural word expansions. Two expansions are cool for me.:thumbsup:
The more I think about it, there probably won't be a purely elemental class. Think about it, what good is a class that can only deal one kind of damage, when creatures can be completely immune to that damage. They won't want you to have to create a new game every time you stumble upon CI, FI, or LI, like in DII.
I really hope no expansion in the first 2 years of D3.. in D2 it just felt like I had to repay the game when it came so soon and added so little, pretty much everyone was satisfied with the 4 acts and 5 classes back then and many dissappointed where the game went after expansion. 2 classes and 1 act. Had they made another year of it and come up with more stuff I would have been more satisfied I guess.
Well anyways just waiting for D3 and taking everything out of it when it comes before expansion. I guess this time they will make the expansion a bit better!
Wonderful, though I'd prefer to see him in the initial release
To understand some peoples love for necros you may have to read the books.
I've read all the books, some more than once, and I still find my passions lie with Trag'Oul, Rathma, Mendeln, and Zayl. The Amazon is my favorite character to play, but the Necro is always my favorite character to play with. Though I dearly love The Sin War books, and Zayle, The Black Road was my favorite from the Diablo series.
It seems to me that the necromancers play a very important role in Sanctuary's world - they are the keepers of the Balance. It only seems logical that they come into the game somehow. With only 5 character classes to choose from initially, I would almost expect an expansion that added a couple of character classes and additional content. I want a necro that is more in tune with the ones in the books.

Having an expansion out after diablo III's release is newsworthy. We are a community dedicated to blizz and its games...primarily DIABLO. If there is any news about diablo III and a possible expansion, you bet your ass we are going to address it.

I can just think of the different skeleton possibilities nowadays for the Necromancer and other spells. YES!
Who says you need corpses to summon a skele? they can come from the ground like mongrels
think outside the d2 box
yea that is true....its just that being the way build up your skeletal armies in d2 is hard to see them not being needed anymore
i think it's a great idea to bring this class back....
