A few things. With the announcemnt being made in Korea, it's almost certain it's a Starcraft game coming. As far as Hellgate, from what I have seen, it's nothing like a Diablo game. It has a first person 3D perspective, whereas Diablo has always been overhead, 3/4. Flagships upcoming Mythos is way more Diablo-esque almost to the point of direct copy (the potion belt, right and left skills, etc.)
On the other hand, the Diablo universe is very active thanks to Richard Knaak and his fine novel writing abilities. I just about cried when I bought the second Sin War novel and found out the third won't be out till NOVEMBER. It's the perfect time for a new Diablo game. Knaak himself almost confirmed D3's existence when he said 'I'm not writing for a dead franchise'. So D3 is for sure as far as I'm concerned. But will it be announced on the 19th? We've got two more days to wait.
One thing is for certain, when D3 DOES come out (and it will) I don't want a 3D Dungeon Siege perspective. I want my overhead action with fabulous animations and gorgeous spells. And how about class specific quests? For example, a Necro would have his own quests possibly relating to Rathma or Trag Oul. You know, different game depending on the class you choose. That would be awesome. A barbarian having to complete quests and learning about his heritage by scaling Mount Arreat. Like the world would be the same, but certain classes would have to go through different areas relating to them.
Or how about something like Dungeon Siege where your starting character is always the same, but you 'develop' into your class by choosing the quests to complete. You 'become' a sorceror by completing quests to learn spells. Man I want D3 SO bad.

The move to a 3D engine doesn't mean that the animations and spell effects won't be as pretty. The spell effects for one will look a lot better using the tech of today instead of the tech of 2000. Shader model 3.0, bump mapping, normal mapping and all the other techs would lead to an impressive Diablo style game if done right. Animations can be amazing as well. Titan Quest looks fantastic and has all the newer techs. While I like Titan Quest, I think with some revision and modifications, Blizzard could use the engine with amazing success. They won't because they use their own engines but still. 3D doesn't mean it won't be as pretty.
New Image up with a memorable quote I remembered from long ago.
"Like fools, we clung to the old hatreds and fought as we had for generations... Until the day the sky rained fire and a new enemy came upon us."

For Diablo III
Its irrelevant, as much as I would kill to see Diablo III, i would bet my left bollock that they will make it subscription..
now they have tasted the milk that they get from the WoW CashCow, I don't think they'll go back to free... and paying subscriptions for games isn't the route I want the industry to go down, so I wouldn't buy it (not that would make any difference to the profit margins of blizz like.. but hey)
Diablo 3 wont be subscription based plus it doesn't matter since that's not what they are announcing anyways.
What the hell are you talking about? Did you even read my post? I said that I liked the cinematics, but that the game isn't for me...
Quote from You »
(That's really the only reason I'm interested in it). Cinematics are a huge part of the game to me, and without them, I find it impossible to be impressed by a game.
Who's going to countdown and stay up till midnight tomorrow?
My goal Fri night is to continue painting my house during the day, and when the sun sets I'm gonna commence drinking beer and playing SC until I pass out. If I can't make it to 3am hopefully I'll have a nice suprise waiting for me when I wake up. It'll be like Christmas!

i just hope blizzard will be able to make random environment like the old crew did with diablo and diablo II and they still to do it with hellgate london.
What we heard: Blizzard had not returned requests for comment as of press time, which is not entirely surprising, given that much of its PR department is currently badgering flight attendants for cocktails in transit to Korea. However, a search of other potential game titles doesn't turn up any more sites officially registered to Blizzard. Diablo3.com and Worldofstarcraft.com are fan pages, and Starcraftmmo.com and Warcraft4.com are both owned by cybersquatters.
Bogus or not bogus?: Blizzard has been characteristically tight-lipped about its forthcoming announcement, expected Saturday. However, it is looking more and more likely that it will be Starcraft-related.
I seriously doubt that. Announcing two major titles at one time will cause there teams to be under tremendous pressure. They would have to cut corners in production and this could lead to a poorly designed, uninteresting game. I'd much rather have them focus on one game now and another when the first is near release. Order of games doesn't matter to me.
It's not that far fetched. Blizzard's development staff grew exponentially once WoW hit it big. They're still firing out regular job postings for a multitude of positions - instead of the same positions over and over again - which means these job positions are being filled. They're a lot larger of a company than they used to be. There is evidence of that when it was reported that they were working on two unannounced projects - this was after the release of WoW (which they have development teams for continually working on releasing new content AND working on The Burning Crusade simultaneously).
The fact of the matter is most gaming companies have more than one project in the works at any one time. My gf works at EA, and apparently they have like 5 or 6 different titles in steady progress. Even Flagship Studios, a newer company with a painfully smaller development crew than Blizzard has two games in the works.
the keyword is new, maybe you dont know what that means......
