I remember some Blizzard staff member saying that we we're going to hate Blizzard because of their newly released class. But I haven't seen much of that, what do you guys think made Blizzard think we would hate them for the unveiling of the Wizard?

I think it was supposed to be hate because he/she is so close to the sorc that we were suposed to hate em, but that red beam and slow time are so badass I can't get mad at them haha I might acually even play the wizard (never played sorc)

YUCK!
Maybe with the introduction of the wizard and the auto stat idea people will realize their wizard may never gain enough strength to wear the high defense armors. i.e. archon plate, sacred armor. Instead they will be forced to wear low defense ones such as light plate and mage plate. That is the feeling I get when they said that. That was a bit off topic so I'll get back on.
I have no idea why anyone would be mad about the unveiling of the wizard. Maybe the class name choice of wizard. I for one thought that the wizard is very sorc like but even more badass than I imagined a revised sorc would be. The class name is the only thing I have seen people debating about after they announced that char so my guess is the class name is why Blizz thought everyone would hate them.

The blind mind's eye replies with a sigh and a tear of contempt for those who see the world as it truly is.
Yeah, I mean the Wizard seems pretty cool to me. If anything I'm dissapointed in the Barbarian, seems like pretty much the same old stuff, but there isn't as much room for expansion with him as there is for the caster class.

Why would we hate a revised sorceress class? Did you all suddenly think that they ditched any type of caster apart from the with doctor?
The Wizard is incredibly badass. The slow time and disintegration were amazing, but the one I loved the most was that multi-strike/slash thing that she used. It was orgasmic.
I only thing I didn't like was the name. "Mage" seems a lot better, but after seeing the way the Wizard looked, I kind of think it is an appropriate name. Kudos Blizz!

No one said that, Blizzard just said we would hate them because of the new class release and I'm confused as to why that would be considering most people love it.

ugh i really hated the multi slash thing, just because of the noise it made.
Imagine spamming that all the time
good thing d3 will be using about six of your spells intead of spamming just one (fireball)

Thats where I got the idea. It sounded like they think that because of the similarity to the sorc, it would somehow ruin it all.

It could be for the reason that the wizard is obviously very far along in development.....meaning they probably could have released info about it earlier. If she ithe class is that far along it would have been much cooler to hear about it a month ago, and then announce a brand new class at Blizzcon and allow people to play the demo with Barb, Wizard, and Doc.
I had to watch that wizard vid twice it was so amazing how she just blew things up THATS MY KINDA GaL

No, that was a stupid false rumour based on something that Jay Wilson said.
Basically, he said that hypothetically, if they announced a new class that is similar to an old class, fans of that other class would hate them. Then some retard on the B.Net forums made a thread taking that statement completely out of the context with a very suggestive thread title, making some weaklings believe in it and start 'discussing' it. Then they went spamming it on other fansites, and the rest is history as you can see here today. Basically, no one ever said that fans would hate them for the next announcement.
actually that was exactly what Jay Wilson said "people will hate us for the next class because its similar to another".
Came very true in matter similarity, but very far from being hated. Sorceress was by far my favorite class in Diablo 2 (as Sorcerer in Diablo 1) but what i experienced from the Wizard made me almost ecstatic. Its amazing how much improvement there was for the caster class and how many new things there were around! That slow time orb must be one of the coolest spells around!

To me, that's a good thing. They won't likely put any stats on those types of armor that would help a magic-user anyway, so i think the stat thing supports the item types.
I'm glad they used a revised version of a class that's considered kind of a classic. It might not seem really creative, but i think they did enough new stuff with it to make it a new class.

Man cmon...people gave Blizzard heat about the 'darkness' level of the game and were not even happy with the Witch Doctor initially...with all the mindless bitching because something new comes out... Jay probably expected people to hate the fact that the wizard is a sorc rehash (in playstyle- not essence)...

Well spellcasters aren't suppose to wear heavy plates. They aren't supposed to tank the mobs but nuke from distance.
Wizard has many defensive spells that you are supposed to use.
Temporal Armor - Rank 0/1: Surrounds the wizard in a protective shell that stops all damage from an attack every 6 sec. The shell dissipates after absorbing 12 attacks.
Damage Resistance - 2/15: Increases armor by 10% and all resistances by 8% (next point armor by 15% and all resistances by 12).
Stone Skin - Rank 0/1: Shield yourself with rock and stone absorbing 30 damage. Lasts 8 sec. Mana cost: 12. Cooldown: 15 Sec.
Mirror Image - Rank 0/1: Create an illusionary duplicate of yourself that lasts for 8 sec. Mana cost: 18.
Conjured Armor - Rank 0/15: Magical armor surrounds the wizard increasing block chance by 2%.
Arcane Armor - Rank 0/15: While your Storm Armor, Stone Armor, Stone Skin or Temporal Armor spells are active, your armor is increased by 20%.
So after having all those defensive spells.. does a wizard really need heavy armors?
anyways on to topic:
Wizard looks amazing, can't hate it. Even the name doesn't bother much.
