that's retarded... no offence... but, that would just be stupid, what if you wanted something that uses two trees..... one character is fine, why would you even want to have that many characters?
Ya i kinda feel the same way
no offence either but I can't believe that you feeling like you are getting to much choices to choose from. Most the time I feel like i'm not getting enough.
Character classess I would want in D3
This is just an idea so please bear with me.
-Since the main 7 characters have been in the Worldstone they have been corrupted (or should have been, just like Tyrael). They should rise to be high ranking officials in hell, and you must fight them to win Diablo3.
-Idea 2-We should see more character classess maybe even up to 30? i.e. for Barbarians have Ruthless Barbarians-adds more damage and has more combat skills. Intelligent Barbarian. Has higher Attack Rating and a few magiv spells here and there. I mean just split the characters into sub-classes.
-Customizable looks, like for a barbarian one customizable feature would be face paint, where to put it and what colors etc.
-Male and female options, it would be better, although some character classes might have one gender only.
-Converted monsters, to be able to play as some of the monsters in Diablo II (but this would bring the topics of race into Diablo and I don't know if we want this).
-Character size but nothing too ridiculous (if diablo is done in 3d).
-Character age, older = more intelligence, younger = more str etc.
This is my list, tell me what you think.
This guy put what he wrote in "Things we want to see..." Idiot...
I would realy like to have a character creation screen where you choose what you what to look like, like face hair body size and all that then in game having a way to change what class you are in game. Save's having 8 players of difernt race's. the classes i want to see add in the game are...
Samurai - having light armor and weilding great katana good at combo att's and things like that.
martial artist/Monk - a hand to hand job light armor agine and fast atts but at lower damage with good Dot.
and a bigger range of sorc type jobs deviding them up abit.
i kno alot of fans dont want healing jobs in the game but i think they should add some kind of support job to the game, somtimes its fun just to help other players out.
Elfien Lied, I agree with you on some things, but factions?, its just a scarier version of WoW. But i do think the game SHOULDN'T BE a MMORPG under no condition, if it is might as well play WoW. And i aggree with you on the fact that all chars should be human, which is the whole point of Diablo, Humans caught in the fight between heaven and hell, no cyborgs, dwarves, etc.
Before I can say which classes I think should be in D3 we should know what was good and bad about the classes in D2... so lets go over the major points that I think are important concerning the characters in D2.
Everything was pretty diverse... some characters got a little redundant imo though.
-Sorceress was a great class, there is a lot of variety and possably the most diverse class when you think about it. I see more build guides for sorcs then most other classes.
-Paladin was also great. The auras made this class stand out imo. While they had a few skills that involved magic damage, I wish they had something more involved with holy damage or something, I know they have holy bolt and stuff, but I mean really, have you seen any effective builds based on the skills the Paladin has in this area? Something specifically associated with +dmg to demons would have been cool. Other then the auras the Paladin was sort of just a different melee class.
-Barbarian was unique but I notice it's very item dependant. Most other classes can hold their own without items, if need be. The shouts were great though, and I like how the barbarian had masteries and natural resists and such. However I do wish the masteries aspect wasn't specifically associated with barbarians as there are a few classes that could realllly use the same sort of skill distrebution.
-Amazon was very well done but also a little item dependant. I do wish there was more in the spear catagory though, because it would seem that they cover bows and javalins well, while the spears in all of diablo basically are left unnoticed and I think there is a lot more blizz could have done with the weapon.
-Necromancer is one of my favourite classes and extremely well done, just kinda wish they had some kind of skill tree devoted to vampiric sort of spells. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the summoning, cursing or bone/poison tree's, but I think that life steal and spells related to it just go hand in hand with the Necro (I know he has spells in this area, but just not enough)
-Druid got kind of redundant. I love shapeshifting and such, but his elemental spells almost seemed like they were last minute, I like the wind aspect, but the fire aspect is not only useless for the most part, but already covered by the sorceress. Summoning, also pretty useless except for the spirit of the oak and bear.
-Assassin was great, love the shadow disciplin tree. I like the direction blizz went with this class, as apposed to back stab and sneaking around kinda thing, they kinda remade assassins for this game, which is awsome. What I didn't like was the traps area made them casters pretty much, considering the fact that lightning sentry was the most useful one, and the martial arts got kinda pointless after a certaint point because boots didn't do enough damage, however some skills are useful.
Alright, enough critique and back to what this thread is about, what classes should be in D3...
Now that we've figured out the basic pro's and con's of most of the characters we can figure out what works and what doesn't.
There needs to be some kind of caster... lets just call it a Mage for now.
There has to be some kind of fighter... lets say Warrior.
Some kind of alternate warrior like a Knight or something... basically something with a shield sword specific class that would be geared towards holy damage or something (yes I know what you're thinking right now... Paladin, but come on, you need it in a game like this!)
Something like a Necromancer but not necessarily only that... perhaps something more geared towards life steal and summoning something other then skeletons... I like the revives and golems, but the skeles got a little overbearing in D2... something different would be cool.
A Ranger type character so bows aren't neglected.
An Assassin character must be in there! (I love assassins:D)
A Druid, but with completely unique characteristics. Something geared more towards shapeshifting and buffing that aspect.
A Monk type character, who is specifically devoted to hand or martial art type combat. None of this assassin with crazy roundhouse kicks crap.
An anti-caster mabye? Something devoted to curses and sabotage mabye? It's an idea. I mean, resistances are great and all, but when I have a barbarian chasing a sorceress in a dual and I just can't catch em cuz she's teleporting away to fast... it's just no fun.
A combat character devoted to polarms, they just didn't get enough recognition in D2 and I wanted to make a character with a sick sythe!!!:( We'll call this character an executioner I guess.
NO HEALER! For god sakes, this is why I think Diablo is better then WoW. You don't need to wait for someone to join your game who can keep your health high while you go for the big bosses, it's about massive damage fast and survivability. Adding a healer to the game would change the dynamic instantly. Some characters can have healing skills, but they shouldn't be overpowered and there shouldn't be a character devoted to this kind of skill.
So... disregarding the names, D3 should have -
Warrior,
Mage,
Knight,
Necromancer,
Ranger,
Assassin,
Druid,
Monk,
Anti-Caster,
Executioner
Funny thing is, most of these are covered in D2... I can't think of anything else that a good game in this genre would need! Unless Blizz got realllly creative and made brand new characters with skills we couldn't think of in our wildest dreams I think this would cover a good base for character variety and playability.
Sorry for the huge post, it takes me a lot of thought to come to a good decision... not to mention I think it's better when reasoning is layed out and justified so everyone's on the same page.
Whew!
P.S. - Props to anyone who read through the entire thing. You've got a lot of patience...

Nah, I just like reading about things I actually care about..heh
That was a big post and you made a lot of good points.
The Paladin really shouldve been more focused on holy damage (extra damage to demons/undead)
There should be a more melee damage-based character, the Warrior as you say. And then the Knight/Paladin is a type of Warrior more focused on holy damage.
A Ranger type character so bows aren't neglected. I agree.
The Amazon was good. But there shouldve been a Ranger-type class focused on the bow, and maybe a class focused on the Javalin?
Now... the Druid.. I agree with you here. The Druid is supposed to be nature loving, not a fire conjuror which destroys the most part of nature.. If I had to choose what the elemental skill tree had to offer Id pick wind and earth-type abilities.
As for the healer? No.. There shouldn't be a healer. But I think there should be a certain class with a healing and buff skill tree. The Monk. I've always heared Monks are religious. Not proned to hand-to-hand combat.
monk/mʌŋk/Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[muhngk]Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1.(in Christianity) a man who has withdrawn from the world for religious reasons, esp. as a member of an order of cenobites living according to a particular rule and under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. 2.(in any religion) a man who is a member of a monastic order: a Buddhist monk.
Sooo they could still be hand-to-hand combat based but have a healing/buff skill tree. So we're all happy. Looking at the people who want a healer type thing.

WTH is so bad about a healer?... I'm not saying that he is totally sit back and cast heals... He has a buff/healing tree... And then he can like do smite and such. And schytes should definatly be used in d3, it would be soo kick ass having a huge guy holding this schyte and then he swings it and all the little fallen have thier neck vcut open and then there's blood, and then he walks foward and he's in robes and he;'s got his hood up and then you hear little fallen guy's screams!
Ya i kinda feel the same way
no offence either but I can't believe that you feeling like you are getting to much choices to choose from. Most the time I feel like i'm not getting enough.
Now, i Can't wait for D3^_^

in D2, you could make so many diff classes with just Gear, Stats, and Spell set up
for instance, you can make more than 5 different types of Amazon, and I'm certain that your play style for each types of Amazon would be distinctive,
Jabazon
Javazon(Lightning)
Javazon(poison)
Bowazon
Bearzon
FAzon (Freezing Arrow)
Firezon
Bow/Jav Hybrid
I think this is what made D2 the most diverse character building role playing game ever
no classes in World of Warcraft can do this
there should be no faction & reputation crap if so i'm not buying D3 LoL
.Necromancer
.Paladin
.Archer
.mage
.Beserker (vikings style)
.Assasin
.Druid
.Priest
.Blademaster
.Templar
.Amazon
And u shud choose Man/women i dont want to be woman
+customising of your caracter u know face hair hair coulur
i think they should just give every char the roundhouse kicking ability and the bitchslapping ability.
becasue you know if a noob pisses you off you can just roundhouse kick them out of the game.
or if you own someone in a duel you can bitchslap them to mute them, if there talking shit.
i think it would be funny.

Here you see the classes from Baldur's Gate II. I think it's perfect and would also fit to Diablo.
By the way, AFAIK the Samurai is more like a servant... The Kensai would fit better.
Edit: See Guildwars Dervish...
