Here are the most likely characters to return in diablo 3 .Unless blizzard changes there mind about only 5 or 7 character:
Druid:male/female>>> in his 20 or 30
Assassin:male/female >>>in her 20
barbarian:male/female>>> (in the game)
Witchdoctor:male/female>>> (maybe it will stay or not)
Paladin:male/female >>>> (maybe bet hopefully he will) in his 20 or 30
Character maybe wont be in diablo 3:
Amazon: Probably not/ bet maybe
Necromancer:He was to old in diablo 2.He was like 40 or 50
Sorceress: Probably not/bet maybe and .Because it really does not say were she from so. She probably someone you find later in the game : "One of the rebellious women who have wrested the secrets of magic"
I say this because.Diablo 3 is going by age and time so it should be about right,or maybe some similar characters.
You're an idiot.
Anyway, it's my belief that there will be a vijeri mage (sp?) for our caster. The paladin won't necessarily make a reappearance, though perhaps a priest will be introduced ala the artwork pieces floating around specifically the one titled "priest". Finally, I know I'm regurgitating some of what has already been mentioned previously, but I'd like to see a type of character which is a cross between D2's amazon and assassin. I'm not familiar enough with diablo lore to comment further on what they'd be called let alone where they come from, though. I hate the thought of a rogue character making an appearance for three reasons. 1. Been there doen that, 2. rogue sounds fken stupid. Reminds me of those bad xmen movies... and 3. pure ranger is BORING IMO.
We know that there will be a different type of skills system, though whether that only means a limited speicifc number of skill points for a given skill (as opposed to 20) or something else such as shared skills or even quest acquired/NPC acquired skills remains to be seen. I wouldn't necessarily like to see more skills per se, but eliminate those redundant skills we had in D2 and replace them with useful ones. For example, in D2, the skill bash or telekenesis were useless (synergies aside). In D3, I'd want no skills that are redundant. You may well argue that these were only useful for leveling up (assuming you didn't g-rush!) though I counter with many classes having these low level skills as specific builds (smiter, anyone?)
Similarly, I would hope most skills were different from each other in more of a degree to which they were in D2. Ice bolt versus ice blast versus even glacial spike are examples of skills which weren't varied enough. You can't even make builds based on these skills. (My ice blast sorc never did go down well in pub-pk I'll freely admit.) Surely blizz game designers have enough imagination to not have to borrow skills from the likes of WoW either (yes, I'm an anti-WoW-like D3 sort of person).
So basically, I hope these new characters have skills from which a whole build can be based upon, increasing the number of total builds from 40-50 as seen in D2 to 60 or so in D3 (2 less characters, remember). Yes, D2 had that many if you think about it - I made 55 or so pvp chars with an editor. Of course, not every skill would have the ability to make a build from - some would have to be auxilliary skills (how many builds could you make from different curses, for example?)
Honestly Diablo 3 would do great with draeni, blood elves and night elves. We could have spellbreakers as a class, rogues, druids, warrior warlock priest and some new ones maybe. WoW could bring over so many good ideas, items units and races over to D3 it would be awesome

You have to remember, the Necromancer plays with the forces of life and death. They most likely have the ability to postpone death. I wouldn't be surprised if the Necro from DII is more than 150+ years old.
Besides, the Necro in the game only looks the way he does because the Necros live in an underground city and never really see the light of day.
Besides, we might see a new young Necro, like the one from Legacy of Blood.

Honestly I don't see what is wrong with having Blizzard use their artistic style in all their franchises. Diablo 3 should be influenced by a great game, so that it will be even better than WOW and hopefully have a same large fan base. Another thing they could do is have large servers where at least 10k people could be in the same server, would make for awesome parties.....

Yeh I know I had an argument forming in my head as I was reading it! I was pretty much going to make the guy cry, such is my wit. I say we get the formaldehyde out and put him in a jar anyway.

This is Diablo not WoW. STFU, no one wants to hear your opinion. You have no idea how long us real diablo fans have been waiting for DIII. Your ideas are stupid. I hope that was sarcasm.
Diablo is about Heaven vs Hell, Good vs Evil. It is not about orc and humans. It has human based characters, and that is how its going to stay.

God damn its just a option good damn and a thought fuck
It's really impressive how so many people have no idea of what Lore Consistency is. There are so many retarded sugestions on this thread that I pray that blizzard does not read it (dragons, elves, gnomes, goblins, etc..).

That all comes from "wowies" n00bs who found WoW but had never played the original Diablo or DII and LoD. They have also probably never played Starcraft or the original Warcrafts.
WoW already completely f**ked up the lore in Warcraft... sadly so:(
Witch Doctor has no relation at all with the Diablo lore so im not surprised if we see any ninjas, samurais or even blood elfs or nagas.
No, but we did have some dealings with them in the Kurast jungles of D2.
Also, neither the Barbarian, Amazon, nor Necro were mentioned anywhere in the lore of D1, yet they were added in D2. While the Paladin was sort of implied.

SCREW YOU!!! This is Diablo 3, not Wariablo 3.
BTW all sarcasm.....
Phew, I thought you were serious.
NO F**KING GNOMES OR SHAMANS. This isn't WoW. Leave us all alone, and no one wants your opinions on what characters you want.
