That could be true Jeremiel.
This was very good news to me for we now know what the damn meteor was! It actually was Tyreal and yes maybe he came to aid the church/people.
This is simply awesome! But it can be just graphic random situation... Thus i believe Tyrael will be corrupted. Maybe heavens banished Tyrael, coz of destruction of Worldstone. Who knows?

See this theory that the TC suggest is what I had thought originally when I watched the trailer in the first place. I've long held a belief that Tyrael would end up becoming corrupted somehow through the loss of the Worldstone (or perhaps through so much direct "exposure" to the Prime Evils). I really feel much of this is shown through the imagery in not only the trailer but the artwork provided by Blizzard on the D3 website. In my opinion a lot of it points towards a plot that involves a fallen Tyrael. For example take the "Blizzard Entertainment Presents" image (0:40 in Cinematic Trailer) from the trailer and its strong yet smooth, curved lines that form the stained glass windows framing. Reminiscent of an Angels wings in my opinion and the first thought that came to my mind when first viewing it. It is indeed plausible as well that it represents an outlining of say Diablo's hulking skull or a hot blazing fire, or even just simple Gothic architecture. However, you cannot deny there is some similarity between those curving, thorn laden lines and Tyrael's massive, elegant wings.
As the trailer progresses much of the scenic beauty presented of the various cities and towns of Sanctuary is shot to show off the landscape of the surrounding area. Take note of how much of the frame in these "city shots" is taken up simply by sky; its puffy clouds and burning bright stars. If the purpose of these shots was to "show off" the towns then a closer zoom would seem more appropriate. Though it may be a way of also showing off the environment the town resides (and further what type of environment you might later be questing in upon release), the purpose of a game cinematic I feel is usually more plot/hype oriented then game play oriented, thus my first theory seems more plausible to me than the latter. So I feel that these shots are a way of conveying the importance of the heavens and its “inhabitants” in the plot. It gives you the feeling that the skies hold a great importance on these cities. Then suddenly, something enters from the stars over one of these towns…
The meteor. I believe it is indeed an angel, perhaps Tyrael, like the TC suggest. Unlike others, I don’t think the meteor created the crater at Arreat, instead I believe it was the destruction of the Worldstone. To quote directly from the D3 website,
Instead, I stand here looking at a mountain that has been torn asunder by some extraordinary force. The sight, I must confess, is incomprehensible. Yet what I see before me cannot be denied. –Abd al-Hazir
This is from the journal of Abd al-Hazir, the scholar who created all the entries on the D3 website. This is evidence I believe that it was indeed not the meteor that created the crater, but something else, possibly the Worldstones destruction. Now, you might be able to say that the above quote does not provide proof of my theory, since all it describes is the aftermath of some mysterious force. However there is one thing that dismisses such a notion
Abd al-Hazir visited Arreat before the meteor in the trailer ever crashed on Sanctuary.
Abd al-Hazir’s last entry takes place a year BEFORE much of the events shown in the trailer. So it would seem likely that indeed something else created the Arreat crater, that is unless there was a previous comet before the one in the trailer. Either way, the comet shown in the trailer most likely truly lands upon Cain and Leah. Not a split fragment, but the larger majority.
I think I’ll continue my theory in a later post, or maybe just post soon after this one, idk. There is still cinematic construction for me to discuss and also D3 artwork relations. Take a look at much of the artwork, and look at more than just the subject of each piece. As final note: as someone who has taken film courses something I’ve always been taught is that in movies (or the like) the director 99% of the time does everything for a reason. Every feeling and the way the scenes are edited together are put that way for a reason. So that’s where I am headed with some of these theories. Please poke holes in my theory btw, then i can refine things maybe.
Interesting theory. I am not sold yet, though. The very next frame in the cinematic trailer shows the shape that looks a bit like Tyrael in the picture you capture to be the back wall of the church (circled below):
You can see the meteor separately from that shape.
All of that said, I have no problems with the concept that the meteor is because of Tyrael, that Tyrael could become corrupted by the tainted Worldstone, or anything else. I'm just having fun speculating with you guys.
Ah but then there is the thing that it IS a church, and gothic architecture is known to possess statues in generous quantities. Often resembling angels.

He is in front of the light, and the statue does not have a hood. That is Tyreal.
In the art dev webcast they just said that for the next 20 years after LoD no one heard from Tyreal again. The way he said it made me think that he might have reacted badly or been turned by destroying the worldstone.
Are you sure thats not just a chunk of the meteor and Tyrael's not actually the comet, he's just standing in the church because it has to do with the story? lol.
The Meteor crashes through the roof of the original church at Tristram not into mount Areat, and an Angel possibly Tyreal (but judging by the winged helm and shoulder armour + orange/yellow wings I doubt it) rises from the hole in the church floor.
Perhaps Izual or someone of that nature is making a return?

Check it out, Tyreal IS IN THE METEOR
I frame by frame paused and played and took that screen, he is in the meteor.
After all, how much do we really know about what occurred in those final moments?
We don't know much, Diablo 2 LOD left us off with many cliffhangers, hopefully D3 fulfills them.
And note my edit to original post.
