Hi i am just wondering who created the 3 prime evils??? Not talking about the creators of the game but the lore question in the game. I just wonder whoever created them would they be angry they were destroyed in d2??? Might be a stupid question but i am just thinking outloud...
I've wondered this myself. I guess in a way it's like asking how was the universe created. Personally, I don't think, however, that the Prime Evils are definitive demons who represent all of Hell. Rather, they are demons that became the personifications of their namesakes, and gradually rose to power over time. In other words, none of the are the equivalent of an all powerful all knowing demon, or anything akin to what we commonly believe Satan or God to be.
However they were created is probably similar to how most demons were created when Hell first existed (Hell being a place though that probably has no beginning or end that any mortal could perceive). But at some point there there might have been a setting where everything was in its infancy and certain things were taking on physical form. I tend to think of the Prime Evils as once being infant demons that merely embodies things like hatred, fear, and destruction more than other demons who existed in Hell. And being the personification of those aspects, they grew rapidly in power and in form.
There may be more of an explanation in the books, but I've read most of them and I don't recall a specific mention of how the Prime Evils were created. I just sort of thought of them as always being there because they are timeless. However, I think another demon could say, be the Lord of Terror if it wanted to step up and try to overthrow Diablo (just as the Lesser Evils did). No demon has yet to successfully overthrow the Prime Evils and become Prime (so to speak) themselves, but there are powerful demons like Kabraxis who are more intent on biding their time and willing to wait even longer to usurp power from the Prime Evils.
I've even wondered if the High Heavens and Burning Hells were once the same place, and the moment it fractured, the Great Conflict began and powerful demons and angels began to rise in power. But I think you can probably find a reference that says to the contrary of this theory. That since the beginning of time they were two separate places.
But if you wanted to think of the beginning of creation the way many do here such as a big bang, I wonder if early on in creation consciousness was so divisive. I even imagine a single consciousness of many ideas that eventually split itself into two, and then divided further and things like archangels and powerful demons are the offspring of that division and over time took on physical form. I don't know.
Well, it's a problem of the first cause: what created Diablo -> what created Diablo's creator -> what created Diablo's creator's creator etc...
At some point any writer has to create an arbitrary point beyond which no further explanations are ever made. In the Diablo universe, that's the moment the universe (including Heaven and Hell) were created, and the first demons and angels were created along with it. Maybe Diablo was one of those first demons along with his brothers, wee really don't know. In any case, no hint is ever given of any demon that could have created them.

It's kind of assumed that they've always been there, but you're right in that it's never actually explained in any detail.

Indeed you can, they're specifically stated to have been opposites since the very beginning of creation. Of course you could imagine that there was some unified existence before creation which ruptured or similar, thus creating the division between Heaven and Hell that is the defining factor of the Diablo Universe. But that speculative discussion is about as likely to generate any fruit as a similar discussion about the beginnings of our own universe.

I like to think it's the demons that became the best demons at performing their namesakes, just like angels have embodiments of traits like justice and wisdom and order, those being the most adamant angels at upholding and performing their name sakes.
It's also probably safe to assume that since they are referred to as leaders in hell or heaven, they developed plenty of handy skills besides their namesake in order to be an effective leader, but their names remain that prove they are the best at what they do (bub).
The "prime evils" title seems more like referring to them as the leaders of hell, rather than a collective of all demons that are the best at their namesakes. I don't think Squeakomon, Lord of Annoying Fart Sounds is a prime evil, for example.
My point being: They were just one of billions of random demons that showed a knack for what they do, and clawed their way to the top.

Right. Like I don't even think the Prime Evils command other demons as much as they control and manipulate them. And they are only as officially in control as they can maintain control. There is no greater power bestowing power on them. They just always have to fight to stay in control. This is partly due to Hell being a chaotic place.
