What happened to the Hero after he/she entered the portal, "Destruction's End"? They couldn't go back to Harragoth because it was seemly destroyed by the explosion of Mt. Arreat, I think. So where did he/she go?
Also, what happened to Cain after the explosion? How'd he get to safety after the explosion when he was at Harragoth when the explosion occurred, right?
I posted this in the Ask Lore questions thread but no one replied for 2 days so I just made a thread of it. Hope that's okay.
Cain survived and he was IN Harrogath at the time the destruction of the Worldstone. I'd think the heroes took the portal to somewhere safe, waited for Hell to invade, that didnt happen and then either died of age or went mad (said by a dev whos name i cant recall).
Exactly. By the way, the Barbarian of D3 is the same guy from D2 (confirmed by Blizzard). So the portal probably just transported the heroes to wherever they came from. For instance, an Amazon would go back to her islands by taking the portal and a Barbarian would go back to Harragoth.
So, is this Barbarian the guy who did everything in D2, from killing Andarial to killing Baal, or did he only do some if it? Like, did one hero do all the Rogue Encampment stuff, including killing Andarial, and another hero do all the Lut Gholein stuff, like killing Duriel, and so on? Or did five heroes do everything together?

Blizzard is not responsible for the death and loss of your hardcore characters for any reason including Internet lag, bugs, Acts of God, your little sister, or any other reason whatsoever. Consult the End User License Agreement for more details. Blizzard will not, and does not have the capability to restore any deceased Hardcore characters. Don't even ask. La-la-la-la-la, we can't hear you..,
Yes it is, it was said numerous times at the WWI, I think during the Gameplay Trailer too. Look up some of the live stuff, and you'll hear it.

It has been said... that in the end of all things... we would find a new beginning. But as the shadow once again crawls across our world... and the stench of terror drifts on a bitter wind... the people pray for strength and guidance. They should pray for the mercy of a swift death... for I've seen what the darkness hides!
... I don't think it's safe here.
Hoping for Pink Chain Lightning in D3!

According to what I understand, Harragoth was the last bastion of a Barbarian presence that Baal hadn't obliterated yet, located on the slopes of Mt. Arreat. A mountain that now sits in ruins.
However, if you remember, the Elders of Harragoth performed a sacrificial ritual that put up a magical ward around Harragoth....although doubtable, it is possible that the ward protected it from the aftermath.
Its also possible that Harragoth wasn't as close to the Mountain as we thought....I mean the hero's had to travel through the bloody foothills.....the highlands....through several caves, and up the summit to the Ancients......Thats not exactly a short distance.
It actually is him. As proved by Bashiok, a Blizzard Poster.
As for the OP, I would assume that the Heroes were sent to a place where they could rest and recouperate for the battle to come.
It could be they were sent back to their homes, but this raises the question about the Barbarian. What about Horrogath? And as stated, the protective ward, similar to the ward around the city in Act III, Khanduras I believe, protected the city.
Or perhaps they just went into hiding in the Bahamas. Miles of sandy beaches, crystal clear blue water, a light breaze at your back, and unlimited martinis with little pink umbrellas. Sounds like they went to Heaven to me.
Hrm... where IS Harrogath, it seemed to be right near the slope of one side of Mount Arreat, which pretty much all of Arreat is destroyed if you look at the new world map. Harrogath isn't listed as a city anywhere in the region, so now it's making me think...
If Harrogath WAS destroyed how are you able to return after so and talk to the survivors, and how did Cain make it out... Plothole? Or maybe something bigger...
Maybe Harragoth wasn't destroyed by the explosion of the Worldstone, but was destroyed by the invading armies of hell that came of out of the crater of Mt. Arreat that were in the teaser trailer?

Well, by looking at the background in Act V once you reach Arreat itself, you can see Horragath over the ledge far, far below. I think the village is set just at the mountain's base. It may not have been completely wiped out, but would have certainly suffered some damage.

What I noticed looking at the map is maybe its just been renamed. Theres a city called Aerreat Crater. It is a city it has the same little symbol as all the other cities.

By what, 2 Days? Ohhhh, big deal.
Anyway, I guess it could be the ward that protected them, I dunno. I truly hope Harragoth survived. I liked that town.
