Perhaps Diablo3 would take a whole new twist, in that you would choose between sides in hell. And you'd play as various demons (Imagine instead of being a necro, being BishiBosh =D ). Since Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto are dead (Why would we try to bring them back? Isn't Diablo tired of being beaten down?) the Hell Wars would be between Azmoda (sp?) and Belial (sp?).
Acts would consist of battles in hell, earth, and heaven.
Or choices between "Factions". An example: Choose between Heaven, Earth, Hell Belial, and Hell Azmoda.
Each "Faction" Would have specific classes, but essentially all are the same (With some bonuses here n' there)
Be a Minotaur (Hell Belial Warrior), Centuar (Hell Azmoda Warrior), Monk (Earth Warrior), or Paladin (Heaven Warrior).
Each "Faction" would have different story lines, set items, spells/skills, etc.
Is this a decent idea or do I need another round of coffee? XD
This sounds more like WoW to me, i dont like this idea too much. Because diablo has always been humans vs monsters. I like the way it is they just need to add more human characters.

I think they had best keep the game to a down to earth style. I think Diablo 2 was too far out, actually going to the chaos sanctuary. Like I've said, I think there should be factions/guilds, perhaps of theives, mages, warriors, summoners, ect. ect. However, I think they should be in the citys and that the citys should be massive. Ach, I'm blabbering again. My main point - Good thinking, but I think it should be more mortal based.

But maybe it could be like Blood Lord (Hell Barbarian), Oblivion Knight (Hell Paladin), Perhaps council members as Sorcs... although there'd have to be an explanation for their existance... and so on and so forth. I would think that perhaps heaven would be angels.
Perhaps if the alignment vote passes this could give you an excuse to be a demon? (Maybe at a certain point of evilness you can turn evil, visa versa with good angels, who knows)
i agree with that diablo must be mortal based... i also like the idea of becoming an angel or demon... but it can be more posible that the character becomes in a sacred warrior with wings like an angel, but not being an angel, and if you become evil... your equip becomes dark and stuffs like that...

I hope they don't turn it into a chose your fate game (ie Fable KOTOR). I noticed that the Paladin Female in the desert was always urging you to stay toward the light. When she said that it keep making me think I can't turn to the dark the game will not alow it.
