Okay. I'll admit it. I'm not as hardcore as I thought I was.
I have a character I'm plugging through Normal mdoe and there have been whole acts where he did not die once he established how power. But there's something about the early game that is making it harder for me to have characters survive. I've lost a wizard to a waller elite pack. I've lost a monk to exploding trees. I've lost a barb to lag.
Keep in mind, this is all Act I normal.
What are some basic tips for keeping myself alive. I have some thoughts like taking my time and watching my health bar, but apparently I need some remedial lessons.
Also, can anyone point me to any good, solid, class specific guides geared towards hardcore mode? Just to give me an idea of what to work towards.
(side note: I never made it past Normal Duriel in D2 HC. So yes, this experience is fun but new to me).
Thanks for the help. Enjoy pointing and laughling too -- I can handle it.
* Get some twink gear off the AH with vit
* Most classes get an ohshit-skill very early (like Diamond Skin on a Wizard; Breath of Heaven / Serenity on a Monk; Fear / Spirit Walk on a WD; Smoke Screen on a DH; so on) make sure those are always off CD when you engage a pack
* When exploring zones, always go along the edge
* When escaping, always kite back to where you came from
* Make sure you have an exit nearby like a dungeon or a town
* Use the templar with defensive + aggro talents
Couldn't really add anything, he nailed it all. GL in Act 2 PanCakes ;D

Ok first off there is a thing called a mouse. It has two buttons.
Prioritize defensive stats over damage. Vit and armor
For guides just keep an eye on the home page. They usually post the good guides front page.
I made a Demon Hunter, they seem to do well sense you are not really getting hit and you can dish out a lot of damage. Just make sure you never get hit because your squishy. I would buy some AH gear for a DH and try again.
Good Luck to ya!
I started playing HC barb seriously last night and after 4 hours playing in a public group, I'm already in Act III (Witnessed 2 deaths so far though. Wiz and a DH)
I find it extremely easy, but TONS of fun.
What I've done;
Haven't spent even 1 gold on the blacksmith nor the jeweler, just go to the AH and spend your money there, alot better. Early level gear is cheap and you won't have cash problems if you just vendor all magic items (that's not worth to AH)
Stack vitality gear, use defensive passives and a really good weapon = Good to go!
EDIT;
I remember on my first play-through ever with 2 friends, at the last act I thought 100k gold was alooot of money because I've used up it all on the blacksmith getting crap items.
Now at the end of Act II I had 80k!
