So i noticed recently i have not seen alot of great stand up and maybe i just am not looking hard enough but yeah. So i ask who are your favorites and or just clips you thought were funny i will start with one of mine
Mitch Hedberg (who is dead) to this day still makes me laugh
Mitch Hedberg was awesome. Too bad he couldn't keep his junk under control.
I think Dave Attell is seriously funny. Eddie Izzard, Jonathan Katz, Larry Miller. There are also some great comedians who aren't in any good movies but that if you see their standup they're totally hilarious.
It's not as much his humor as much as it is him just coming off as a cocky jock asshole.
That's part of it. And his humor is mostly gross out humor. He tries really hard just to gross people out and people misinterpret that as jokes. His writers on that show are awful. And come on, what kind of a premise is that for a show anyway? Commenting on internet video clips? It's like The Soup but not funny or clever in any way.
I CANNOT beleive no one mentioned Bill Cosby yet... Jezus christ people are you from this planet?!
IDK, I was trying to focus on recent comedians, I thought Bill Cosby / Richard Pryor / Eddie Murphy went without saying.
Well when i saw people saying not-so-recent comedians, and no Bill Cosby in there. It just broke my spirit...
Cosby is relatively contemporary with Hicks and such, but I don't think they belong in the same catergory. Pryor, on the other hand, is well worth mention.
Well, he made a lot of jokes about parenting and families. So sure, contemporaries might not find him X-treme enough. Like you know who's funny? Ray Romano. Now don't get me wrong. I absolutely hate Everybody Loves Raymond. It's the most boring repetitive insulting to your intelligence show. But Ray Ramano's standup is funny as hell. He even makes jokes about his kids which I would usually find boring the same way I'd find it boring when any parent talks about their kids. But still, what's the point of trying not to laugh when I find something funny?
You should watch Dr. Katz. It's basically like watching standup.

Dr. Katz was great (although watching it these days make me dizzy) and I agree Ray Romano has some quality standup, but again, even he has more material than Cosby allowed himself. But it's not just the politically correct humor that bothers me really. Red Skelton had classic acts and, being a comedian in the 50s, he was very conservative by comparison to anyone else we've discussed. Don't get me wrong now. I'm not saying Cosby was a no-talent hack, but I just never appreciated his standup.
I should also mention, anyone who's too young to have listened to woody allen routines should avail themselves of a wonderful experience.
I've been watching it lately though and I've noticed you don't even need to watch it. For the most part you can just listen while viewing something else cause it's such a dialogue heavy show like Home Movies.
Abbot and Costello hands down are the funniest people to havee ever exsisted! Today I like Daniel Tosh and Chris Rock and a few other guys

I can't get into Mitch Hedberg. Not a big fan of the style and he just seemed too spacey to me.
I hate the way you cling to ignorance and pass it off as innocence
EDIT: I'm sorry but, Tosh.0 - seriously?
Edit: Also like Bill Hicks

He rejected a lot more material than that. Consequently he was quite demure and boring compared to his contemporaries (imo).

That happened to me too with Dr. Katz! LOL

I should also note that I've never cared for Dane Cook. I guess, in this thread, that goes without saying.
