I've had pneumonia but not like that. I was extremely feverous and physically weak. It was misdiagnosed for weeks as the flu until we finally managed to convince the doctor to send me for X-Rays (again) and then he realized that it was pneumonia. Dumbass.
Anyways, supposedly you're more susceptible to catch it again if you've had it once for some reason, so be careful.
It's atypical pneumonia, meaning pneumonia not caused by the usual pathogens (S. pneumonae, M. catarrhalis or H. influenzae) but rather other types of bacteria, or some other virus or protozoa.
You do realize that if it was a vitamin deficiency and lack of exercise, this would have happened a long time ago. It's fairly new, so it's safe to say something changed in his daily routine to cause this.
Not necessarily if he supports a minimum intake of something.
But, I see doctors have discovered what it is, for once.
Everyone who complains about doctors not finding out what's wrong with them or whatever seriously need to give it a break. There's usually dozens of diseases that fit into the vague and often misguided patient complaints. Not to mention their incessant fussing everytime a doctor orders a test to be done. Even with all the results in hand, a finding can point towards a plethora of diseases or disorders. Forgive them for not getting it right 100% of the time, they're only humans.
