I had the packing removed today. I spat out balls of blood, and my nose bled for a good 30 minutes..but seriously, it feels great. It felt like 20 fucking orgasms colliding in my nose. lulz
Syllix, he didn't touch my septum. I had a partial turbinectomy. He reduced the size of the turbinates, which are those things that swell up and block your nose when you have the cold.
Meph, was breathing through your nose always difficult, or seem skewed or obstructed? How much better can you breathe now? Was it worth it? Glad you're feeling like a bunch of orgasms. That'd be a funny thing to say, eh? "Hey, Tom! How ya feelin'?" "Great man! I feel like an orgasm!!!" "a... Fucking.. orgasm??" "You know it!"

You have cured me of ever doing anything extracurricular to my nose.
Oh quit being such a sissy. I'm feeling all better now. Lol@how much more I appreciate breathing through my fucking nose, and being able to smell things.

Well, it's not really that. I had random bouts of blocked nostrils, either the left or the right, for a year or two (I never gave it much thought before, you know?). I'd wake up with a blocked nostril which would clear up soon after. Right after winter ended, it got worse, but I still didn't think much of it. When I went to the doctor to have something checked out (I had trouble breathing, which then turned out to be anxiety), he told me that my nose is inflamed a bit due to allergies. Me being the dumbass, I started using decongestive nasal spray, which aggravates the problem if you use it for more than 5 days. I used it for like, a month or two. That caused my nostrils to be completely blocked 95% of the time, and that required surgery. So far, it's worth it. My nose is still closed, but that's normal because I just got out of surgery. He told me to use a decongestive spray for a week (ironic, huh?), and now when I use it, both nostrils clear up completely (the left one didn't clear up before the operation, because it was pretty damaged). I don't feel like an orgasm..removing the gauze packing from my nostrils felt like an orgasm. Let me describe it. For 3 days, I had gauze packed so far up my nose, it was in my fucking brain for all I know. You know that feeling you have before you sneeze? When you tear up, and your nose tingles? I had that feeling 90% of the time in those 3 days. Everytime I drank, I felt like shit because of the pressure created due to the packing (my ears kept on closing and opening everytime I swallowed..water would shoot up my nostrils, too)..I couldn't talk, either. So when he removed the packing, and the pressure was gone, and everything was cleared out, it was like...yeah, an orgasm. A fucking nasal orgasm, if anyone has ever experienced one.
What you describe there is exactly how it happened to me as well! I didn't want to tell you before the operation, but those were some of the most miserable days of my life. Especially the lack of sleep, which just amplified every bad feeling. At some point I just wanted to cry, but I didn't because that would just have made it a lot worse. As soon as they pulled the "tampons" out of my nostrils it became better though.
Actually I should have a second surgery to reduce the size of my turbinates (just learned from your post that's what they're called in English). Apparently the way they would do it is to burn them by introducing a hot needle or something like that so they shrink automatically. There's no way I'm going through all that again though, I prefer my bad breathing :/
There are different ways to reduce turbinate size. The technique you described is just one. I'm pretty sure not all surgeons use gauze packing, but I'm not entirely sure.
