I fell sorry for you, really. America is not special, soccer doesn't need you to be the most popular sport in the planet. And no, FIFA won't do jack shit about it, and you know why? Because it's AMERICA.
If it happened to Argentina, Brazil, Germany, or other country with tradition in the game, then MAYBE, just, MAYBE, something could happen (slim chances tho), other than that, nobody cares.
Like it or not, USA has the top say in every topic in the world. If you deny it, you're living in some fantasy. The fact that this happened to the USA will bring enormous pressure to FIFA from the USA to finally make an instant replay system. If it happened to Brazil, Argentina, or any of the countries you mentioned, it would help, but USA has the strongest opinion in this.
Also I'm calling bullshit in everything you're saying. It's the most popular sport, but since the 2006 World Cup, soccer has greatly declined in popularity. (It would have happened sooner if Zidane wouldn't charge into Italy). The fact that you think that America has no say is disturbing and I'm questioning your judgement.
This is not the corporate world, USA take on this matter (video review) is as good as Ireland after losing to France ( zero/0) But again, this is all about money, and the money is.... IN EUROPE (aka: champions league, serie a, premium and spanish league)
You honestly think that FIFA would consider America interests over any other country, over all the other leagues, tournaments? Lol, now my friend, you're the one being fanatic. If anything, UEFA is the only one who could it. And even they would need CONMEBOL support on this matter.
About the popularity drop, what numbers you have to back that up? And please explain how that relates to soccer not having replay? (I'm asking worldwide, not in the US)
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

You're exaggerating about them having the top say. If they did, Hezbollah would have been long gone by now, so would Hamas and similar organizations, but I'm not gonna derail this into politics. An instant replay system has a 0.1% chance of being implemented. This isn't the NBA.
It has declined in popularity? Are you KIDDING me? Lol. This world cup's ticket sales are only second to the '94 world cup, brotha. The world cup is getting more publicity than any sport that America claims to be big, such as shitty Baseball and your version of rugby with paddings which for some reason you like to call "Football".
America might have a say, but a say that isn't more important than Ghana's. This is football, not the world's economy or something.

While I agree with almost everything that you've stated in this thread so far, it being America or Germany, it doesn't matter on FIFA's decision regarding anything and everything. They've always been dicks in that department, and they will remain dicks in the future. They can't do anything about it. What would they do in any case? Have a rematch? Count the goal? Impossible things.

You're right, nothing would happen, but the repercussion would be bigger(AMAGAD, the 5 time champion just got knocked out, replays ploxx)
That could lead FIFA to consider replay in the far, far, future, but as we both know, very unlikely.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Lmao! I want to know what country you people are from. Like it or not, pissing off America in ANY subject is not a good idea. Soccer is one of them. And popularity of soccer is declining. It's a statistical fact and don't try to deny. If you live in some small ass town in Brazil, you might not know it, but it is.
And I also believe that even though there are equal representatives of every country in FIFA, USA has a slight bigger say than Ghana. Numbers don't mean anything. Logic dominates here.

I live in São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil, soccer ratings are getting bigger every year, and no, it's not just here. I also watch all the european leagues (it's commom sense, since the best team in South America will face the best European every year) and it's the same for then.
Just because major league soccer sucks balls and is declining doesn't mean its true for the rest of the world, i will say again, America is not special, you guys are not necessary for the sport to live on, stop being so fucking arrogant, this is not NFL or NBA, the rest of the world could care less of what the ''allmighty'' United States of America thinks what is good for soccer.
If CONCACAF were to be disbanded right now it wouldn't make a difference, life would go on, now go see if the same is true for UEFA and such.
But i do agree with something you said, logic dominates here, and it's just logic that the strongest associations have more power in this (UEFA and CONMEBOL), if anything, CONCACAF and AFC are tied in a very distant third place.
I don't even know why I'm talking about those, i highly doubt you have any knowledge about the soccer associations around the world. You probably think that USA is is daa bomb, and that the major league soccer finals are THE WORLD SERIES, and that the winner is king.
Oh, thats right... I'm still waiting for those numbers about soccer losing popularity, take your time. (worldwide, please)
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
The world cares very much about the USA's opinion. USA does own the fucking world my friend. I think you forgot about that.
But anyway, soccer statistically, according to TV.com, has lost 12% of its viewers since the 2006 World Cup. Sound bad?
And America is special. The fact that the goal happened to America is bad for FIFA in every way possible. First off, the things that American journalists say actually matters. They can embarrass the shit out of you and people believe it, no matter how fucked up you think USA is. Second, lawyers in America bypass whatever FIFA can come up with. If the USA does find something out about FIFA on how they are fucking things up, they're screwed, and that's about it. FIFA is internationally known to be one of the most corrupted organizations out there (the Olympic Committee is close).
I can find countless evidence to support my so called "theories". So just ask and I will site a bibliography for you
USA does own the fucking world of warcraft my friend. I think you forgot about that.
I think that is what you actually meant. Common mistake really.
Could we possibly get the discussion back to the actual game?
I know the title of the thread is world cup controversy but I was wondering- which team do you guys think got the best chance this year of taking the cup?

Don't try that shit. USA does own the world. So get over it.
And we are on topic. We are talking about the corruption of FIFA.
The topic of this thread is the World Cup Controversy, but if you want, I think Argentina will win it this year.
I stopped reading at the first line of your post, deathmars. Seriously, grow up, live life, travel the world, it's going to make you a better person. Or you can keep living in that fantasy where the world bows to you, i don't give a shit, really. Hopefully, i do know quite a few americans who are reasonable. So i do know people like you are not the majority.
Nekrodac, i don't believe in dark horses in a big event like this one. I would say Argentina and Germany have pretty good chances, but it's too soon to say, the World cup will truly starts at the rounds of 16. But still, i say Brazil will win over Argentina in the finals.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Haha you Brazilians! I'll give you that- Kaka is awesome player. But you struggled quite a bit with N.Korea.
I'll bet on Argentina but they seriously disappointed in past events. They begin really brightly to fade quickly. I think they do too much at first. I see them having big-time trouble with a team like Italy if they meet.
But ya, I am pushing for Argentina because they've played some truly amazing football up til now.
I also want Cote D'Ivoire to see some success. The only promising African team according to me.

I'm in Lebanon, the thorn in America's ass. I'm pretty sure we've been pissing off America for like, over 20 years or something, and they haven't done squat about it. We're a tiny country, and they still didn't do anything. We blew up a fucking Marines barracks over here, and they didn't do anything. We've made pissing off America one of our top priorities, and America still likes us. You haven't made any sense since you entered this topic, I suggest you order some from KFC or something.
Why are you saying that soccer is declining, and disregarding everything that we've been telling you so far? I told you that thing about the ticket sales that suggests that it's only getting MORE popular. Please give us the numbers. If you want, just post a picture of your ass, then we'd know for sure that you're just pulling statements out of there! Statistical my fucking ass, show us already and stop blabbing on.
Where's your proof that they have a bigger say, other than the fact that you're just like most Americans who like to think they're impact in anything in the world is more important because they have apple pie. I don't have any beef with any American, but Americans like YOU destroy its image.

USA owns the world ?!?! USA's say has been disregarded by many countries, like Iran. America's image has been declining in the eyes of the world pretty consistently over the years because of the idiotic stunts you guys pull. You own jack shit.
TV.com? Why don't you cite information from a site called Floppintits.com. That's be more believable.
Uhh..every news agency in the world fucks with FIFA, America chipping in doesn't change anything. We all know FIFA is shit, they know that we all know they are shit, I still don't see why you think America being a part in it would be like nuking the moon.
Your evidence is as strong as the Hunchback of Noterdam. Go back into the chapel, Quazi.
Actually fuck it. No, all of you foreigners don't know shit about the influence of America. Or maybe you do, you just hate them for it. Lebanon? I can't even spell it correctly. FIFA sucks, and fucking with America was a bad move, so there that's that. Done and done. Period. The End.

Italy has a different style of play (which I personally like). It was amazing because they had a KILLER defense, a VERy good midfield, and an AMAZING offense. Now the midfield is fucked without Pirlo and Gattuso to some extent. The defense is lacking without marvelous players like Nesta and Cannavaro, and the offense is lacking because Totti, Del Piero, Inzaghi, and all the greats are too old. It's sad, but I still have faith in them.
Also, mark my words, CIV will give Brazil some form of trouble. If they don't I will be fairly disappointed.
Ah Mephy, I used to like Italy too...until they committed the blasphemy of turning football into some bad narcotic. I cannot really watch an Italy game nowadays. Got to be doing something else in the meantime for it to work. Like playing a computer game for example. Then checking back every 20 minutes or so.
I watched the times of Roberto Baggio in replays. It was a different team. They were worth every bit of their reputation then.
You guys are ruling out Spain too fast. This team has the possibility of outdoing Argentina in beautiful game. Ah poor Fabregas...
