Japanese men can be knighted, but I think they might get a different title. BUt it equates to the same thing.
The Japanese equivalent of Lord is Tono, but I don't think that word has been used since the end of the Shogunate, I think Dono is still used though.
- san: The most common honorific, equates to Mr Miss Ms or Mrs
-sama: One level higher than san, used to confer great respect
-dono: Comes from the word Tono (see above), one level higher than sama, used to confer the utmost respect
