Yea I got tired of WoW. Kinda boring. 45 min que dungeons only to get fail group that does not get anywhere.
Yes, so true.
Anyways, it doesn't surprise me much that we see a drop in the number of active subscriptions. There are a lot of people that activated their subscriptions just to check Cataclysm. When they found the "same ol' story" they canceled again.
Titan is a long way from happening, so Blizzard will have to re-invent the wheel again with at least one more expansion.
Honestly I think they killed themselves with cataclysm.
Honestly, they killed themselves slowly with WotLK and Cataclysm was the final blow.
They both made the game go down instead of up. They have some good things, but frankly they never actually sat down and bothered to work on so many things in the game that needs to be fixed and enhanced. Its still the same broken, limited MMO and has lost most of its appeal by now.
I dunno the problem I have with WoW, and mmo's in general, is once you hit max level theres only 2 things to do. Raid, or PvP. I don't really like PvP in mmo's and I dislike raiding. Why should I be forced to group with 9-19 other people to be able to learn more about the story and have fun. Not to mention the amount of time you have to dump into raiding. I prefer a more personal group like a 5 man. Or in D3's case a 4 man which will be perfect.
So that's why I cancelled my account. Story of my WoW life. Got 60, sat and did nothing. Got 70, sat and did nothing. Got 80, sat and did nothing. Got 85, sat and did nothing. Done.
I did do some raiding here and there but having to tolerate 9 other people and work around their schedule and shortcomings just isn't fun for me. GET THE HELL OUT OF BLISTERING COLD ON THE SINDRAGOSA FIGHT!
I'll quote TotalBiscuit on this, cause i think he said it best:
Eve Online is a Sandbox.
World of Warcraft is a Theme Park.
And that's pretty much it. WoW gives you certain ways to go, but not to make an experience for yourself. You either find something you like in it or simply quit. Getting bored of it is also an option. I quit quite a few times already, but always returned to see what changed with the patches or expansions.
You misunderstood me. You have choices when you play an MMO. WoW has choices, just like EVE does. You can choose what to do and when to do it.
Erm, not really. Not within what's commonly understood as "choice" in video games.
The amount of stuff you can do in WoW is quite limited, especially at end game (which is why I prefer the leveling phase). The amount of stuff you can do in EVE is quite varied, although EVE limits in other ways which I don't really like.
i've been a wow player since feb 05, must say that after tbc wow gone down hill...
i mean sure its a farm game and always will be, but back in vanilla-tbc farming had meaning to it. for example, you farmed BG's pre nerf with premades to get to highest ranks to get highest gear. when u gone into BWL and got farmed by Vael, blizz didnt gone nerf mod on it, so you had to be more focus and to have good enough players to go through raids.
look at it now, yestarday (29.06.11) patch 4.2 was released, sure it gives us firelands with its new raiding etc. BUT! ppl getting high end gear (not best, but still very good gear) from badges. did ZG today, we downed 1st boss with no healer at 50% and on, 1 tank and 2 dps. this is a FAIL! by blizzard nerfing every single thing.
me personally i barely log my warrior now, which was my pride and joy till now. yet i do log it when tank or dps is needed, so i've logged today to tank ZG and found out that recklessness (used only in zerker stance), retaliation (arms only) and shield wall (def stance) are now free for all, so no more stance dance, yet another fail by blizz. good stance dancer = good warrior, but blizz listen to all the whiners i guess.
and they list is VERY long, i'm glad i've cancelled my sub to wow (should run out around sept), so i log some alts from time to time or do some random stuff if i'm bored enough.
sad to see time like illigal danish, tales of the past, rogues takes no skill and many other wow movies that showed the beauty of the game, turn into a whine enough and we'll bend over for you.
