That looks a little more interesting than TL1. Can anyone tell me when TL1 gets interesting? I've gotten down to the lava level and I still have to get into the game, I'm looking for something to make me want to continue on in it.

You can always crank up the difficulty and/or go hardcore.
I have never played torchlight and this new one looks a lot like diablo or at least kind of like it but is torchlight actually good or does Diablo still blow it away?

It's actually a little more like "Fate". If you can get it on sale at steam for ten bucks (or even five sometimes), hard to argue with that. It doesn't have the depth of Diablo II (not even close) and is nowhere near as dark and creepy as the original Diablo, but it is a fun, fast-paced time killer if you like this style of game. I think it was #1 on steam over christmas, so, obviously, a few people like it.
D3 will blow Torchlight out of the water, you can tell the story line, graphics, and thought going into D3 is 100 times better. I think the Torchlight makers know this and figured they would come out with something to pacify Diablo fans until D3 comes out so they are making their mark now with the time window of opportunity while they can.
I'm betting Torchlight will step up to plate more in it's 3rd version, they'll have more capital and be able to spend more time on the next version. At least that's how I see it, I couldn't help but notice in the 2nd level down in the game with the serpent men and the little huts how predictable each fight sequence was. You knew the moment you got next to a hut that 2 or 3 serpent men we're going to pop out of each and every hut. They didn't make that level very dynamic and probably didn't have the time to write better code to randomize that aspect. IMO
Hands-on reports from the first public day at gamescom are showing up online. Wish I was there, it sounds like the top show in the world at this point.
