I feel if they did this that they would be idiots for doing that. The first time i played starcraft was this winter and i played it over a lan game. If they decide to take out that feture then they are making a bad career move for the game.
It prevents piracy. What they don't understand is, taking things from the gamer doesn't work. It's never worked and it never will work.
I really only wanted it for the campaign, and normally I support Blizzard regardless of if I plan to go online or not, but now, I think I'm not going to buy this.
Why Blizzard? WHY!? I've never been a big LAN gamer, but I've always wanted to, and I thought Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 would be my chance to get people in my community into a LAN party for these games! No one plays the same games I do. I'm into WC3, D2, SC: BW, Portal, Steam in general, and so on. Everyone here is all, HALO 3 ZOMFGROFLZ! But I really thought I would get a chance with Diablo 3. I still am going to buy both of them, SC2 (and all of it's epic campaigns... just wet myself out of excitement) and Diablo 3 for it's campaign as well. I agree with #6. They have forsaken us loyal Blizzonians.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God. -Epicurus-Athiests- Winning since 33 A.D
So much bs. Seems like Blizzard is just out to make a quick buck now.
If they were out for a quick buck we would of been on starcraft 4 and diablo 5 by now....this is just to protect there properties as much as possible and to get as many ppl onto bnet as possible
And while thats a legti reason to leave out a lan option im still sad it wont be there :(....ill play mainly on bent but im going to miss a lan option
This is absurd. I am not purchasing Starcraft 2 anymore. I was willing to forgive Diablo 3's lack of LAN play (since the game is still fun by itself), but Starcraft 2 is inherently a LAN-based game.
This is like selling a car without wheels. It just defeats the point of buying it.
Its weird Diablo3 is understandable but wtf can they do to Starcraft?

I'm going to hold all of you who say you're not going to buy it for your word. Documenting all of your names for future reference.
SCII will be wonderful online. If I want to play with my friends I'll just create a closed game. I don't have to worry about a Hamachi or anything that way.

I accept your challenge. Put my name down. Look for me. Yes, I always go by TheBuzzSaw. I'm not buying the game. The whole point of having the game was for LAN parties. Well, forget that idea...
I don't understand. Why can't you and your friends still play LAN party style but just through Battle.net?
You act like without lan the world will end? Just play threw Battle.net in private games?

When my Internet connection is down, I can no longer play. This is a completely illogical and unnecessary barrier. I have a neighbor who has a permanent LAN connection to my router, and we are both Starcraft fans. Why should we be denied access when the Internet is sucking? On top of that, even when it is working, it adds unnecessary lag and spends pointless bandwidth.
How do you guys feel about this?
I for one think it's a terrible idea as some of the most fun I've ever had was getting three or four friends together for LAN parties.

Lots of unhappy people there will be.
Have they given a rationale?

You ever have eight people connect out to a server from the same connection? I'm thinking no.

I don't think that's quite what he was saying
