they tried to copy some of the moves of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, only with so many playable characters and a really big world, it couldnt be the same, naturally. still the game has about a year more of development, so i'm expecting a graphics update (animation too perhaps?. they could use the Dragon Age: Origins engine for that, it should support big amounts of monsters/players and look decent. but anyway, if its not released at the same time as Diablo 3, Witcher 2 or Dragon Age 2 i'll probably give it a shot.
I just hope the game is fast paced instead of being like wow where I sit there for 10 minutes to kill something.

Interesting... Well, I have to say I have a soft-spot for SW. I usually hate sci-fi, but this might do me in Just as long as there's a way to make a glass cannon. I love those. Wonderful, squishy glass cannons... <3
The concept which I find interesting is that it's an MMO with companion side quests, development and growth. Typical of an RPG but not an MMO!
Yeah. It's cool to see the MMO develop. It's a very recent genre by most standards and is incredibly addicting and likable, but as of late all the MMO's have just been copying each other. Progress now

Eh, I don't see SW:TOR straying. They could position themselves as a niche MMO, but with a 200mil budget that's not happening. They're going to try to compete with WoW and that never works out well.
Most people are so eager to bury the MMO genre under EQ and WoW it's ridiculous. So here I am stuck with EVE waiting for someone to do something different from EQ and it's just traveling in circles. Raids raids raids... don't want to do any stupid raids.

i do! but i want them well designed (very much like - the hated - WoW) so they promote team work and organized groups. Getting rid of the pointless grind is far more important.
but i'd love to see some character development too. a mmorpg that feels like an rpg (half the feeling i got playing Dragon Age: Origins will be enough) would be awesome!

Don't know what that means. Last time I checked, raiders get the best gear. I don't like that.
I dislike raids, for tons of reasons, and while I may do one once in a while, I don't want to do them all the time to get gear. I want all other activities to be able to bring results, be it crafting or exploring or PvP. Centering it on rains ruins the freedom that MMO's should have been able to provide.

i see your point but i dont fully agree with it
i think that raids should offer better rewards as in items (and in some case titles and such) because they require the most work to accomplish - to organize 40 people as it was and 25 can be hard work. or to just stay organized. i'm still pissy about the 10 man "raids". PvP is pure grind, just as it is for crafting (even though you should be able to get some good stuff by that - not the best but decent).
only PvP centered games (like Warhammer Online) dont bother too much with raids etc. but i dont exactly enjoy that for long (just my opinion tho, its a very well made game that's mostly about something i'm neither good at or interested in becoming :P).

I don't mind, but I don't think it's proportional. It seems like the gap between average raider gear and even the BEST non-raider gear is so freaking huge any other activity in the game loses any point besides raw enjoyment for the sake of the activity. And that's my problem with it. I want raiding to be a part of the game, not the purpose of it. Even if raiding was my favorite activity I NEED variety to enjoy a MMO and stuff like crafting and w/e provide that, but if they're not significant I become a bit demoralized with those activities.
at least in WoW where i am experienced, the gap isnt too big. i mean alright, the raider gear of the most current raid dungeon is a bit better than the sets/weapons someone can get from 5 man heroics and it takes alot time for non-raiders to get some of the set pieces the hardcore raiders get, but it should be like that, or there wouldnt be much of a difference for those that take the effort to raid and figure out each encounter (other than the obvious for the fun of the new content).
crafting works very well and makes great gear - i know some of the ingredients are drops from dungeons but if you're a good crafter you're never out of money - some even equal to those of the hardcore raiders.
now PvP has its own specific sets that center more around that. i mean, it was nice without those pvp stats (resilience ew) before where the sets were good but still easily grindable (can't forget how easily i geared up my warrior for pvp within a couple weeks).
the way it is now is fine with me. what i need is my character having more impact on the world and more ways to progress with my character. not as level/skills etc, but to make my choices matter to the world. that's what i would expect of new mmos to make different.

I was told that the best craftable gear (without dungeon dropes I'd assume) is about where entry-level raids are. I guess there's a discrepancy in that field.
if you go for crafting you have to take a little time in it to make money on items everyone needs (especially talking about professions that create armors/weapons and not consumables). then you can buy some of the item drops from dungeons to create even better gear. the first batch of items you can make are half-decent. when you've maxed out your profession you can make good sets and with the raid items you can make sets that are as good (or better) than those of the current raiding guilds. but it takes time and effort to do so, as it happens with raiders
i approve that kind of play. would be really boring if someone was able to get the best items of the game too easy.
Agreed, other than D3, this is the game I am waiting for

Course', doesn't give any representation of how it will play in game.
But still, wow.
