i think he said "readin video game manuals is for c**ksuckers". oh right that was my cousin that said that, but hes only 8. them boys sure do talk like sailors.
No potty mouthed kid today can appreciate the value of a good video game manual.
Would be nice if there was a proper flash light to shine it in the distance. All this one lights up is things right near you. Also some binoculars would be nice, and a motorbike or some shoes that make you run fast.
If you wish to run faster, travel lighter and make sure your weapon is holstered. Also, there aren't many flashlights left in the world. You gotta salvage what technology is out there. That's a major premise of the Fallout universe. Even all the robots in the game are from a pre-war era. Though I do agree some binoculars would've been nice. But should it suffice, you can always use the scope on your sniper rifle.
yeah thats it, i never told sheriff that i would disarm it, and i accidentally got too close to that pale guy at moriartys. the only option i have now is detonate - requires 50 in repair or something...
If your skills are high enough (and if not take some Mentats), just walk up to the bomb and disarm it. It should give that option when you click it. You can leave it alone, arm it, or disarm it. It really is like one of the simplest things to do in the game, strangely enough.
yeah, im using a bed at germantown police hq to sleep when i need it, which is often when i go near cities with large groups of raiders. i really need a nice weapon to tackle those guys and the robots, where can i get something stronger than assault rifles and shotguns?
That's no place to sleep! If you've given up on a home though in Megaton, you can also get one at Tenpenny Tower through a completion of quest which can end in one of three ways, but all of which grants you a home inside the tower.
SMG's are good weapons and not too hard to find. Chinese assault rifles are also good. Even the .32 caliber rifle is a nice weapon and there's ammunition for it everywhere. There are some nice custom made weapons too you can get. Some of which you get the schematics for upon completion of quests, others you can simply buy or steal from NPC's. The shishkebab is one of my favorites. It's a nice silent durable melee weapon that does lots of damange in VATS and regular combat.
i kinda like all the npcs, except the kids. the kids are annoying, that little simms caught me stealing and i couldnt even kill him to get the stuff back
I've discussed at great lengths how annoying the kids are in that game and what a shame it is you cannot kill them.
i know u get a room at tenpenny if u blow up megaton, but i dont want to blow megaton up, and the pale bloke is rather angry at me for ratting him out. he sent a raider party to get me but luckily i had shotguns at the time and it was just extra loot. so idk if i would even get the room at tenpenny if i blew up megaton.
the germantown police hq has a bunch of tents in front and theres fine. supermutants are not too strong either.
i couldnt get the shishkabob plans, the vampire guy didnt hand them over
i love how things have durability and almost all food and water are laced with rads. but it just seems like rads have no real weight to them. like ill just keep eating and take that -1 to agi or -1 to endurance...not a big deal.
is the only other big city rachet or w/e? or is there another megaton sized area im missing?

There is still a way to get a Tenpenny Tower home. It involves the ghoul....Roy Rogers I think his name was? He's the one you see standing outside Tenpenny Tower when you first get there.
Besides Rivet City there is also Twin Falls which is basically a slaver camp, but you can find all the services there you like. Don't think you can officially have a home there, but you can certainly take it over when it is no longer of use to you.
I actually did get rad poisoning sometimes. Or at least enough that it was worth carrying radaway. Not even so much from food, but sometimes you'd be on a long expedition in the main D.C. area and low on supplies but surrounded by Super Mutants so I'd be drinking a lot of radiated water to restore my health. It's a tactical decision. Risk getting rad sickness for sake of health. I think it's kind of a fun game mechanic. It's not too in your face, but it is still there and just keeps you from being careless.
There are two other places you can get the Shishkebab schematics. One is from one of the caravan merchants you see outside of town sometimes. The one you are looking for is Lucky Harith. He'll see you the schematics. But just go find the other one which is "near a workbench in a red Brotherhood Outcast shack, to the south-west of SatCom Array NN-03d. The shack does not appear on the map, but is at the base of the hill the Array is built on. "
omg i talked to harold/bob/herbert today. whats the best option? i think i want to burn him down for fun but i dont think thats how u finish the quest the correct way...and i really hate fighting mirelurks.

Oh the tree guy? Harold goes back to the original Fallout. When I first encountered that quest I thought I had downloaded some DLC or something. Couldn't believe it was an original quest.
I think it's best just to go underground and stab his heart. You get a nice bonus for it too. Like damage reduction or something. But yeah, burn him too if you want.
Try to get Mirelurks in the face in VATS. It's best to use a combat shotgun on them. Yeah they're annoying. All Bethesda games have at least a few monsters that are super annoying that way.
Mines are seriously a blast in that game. I love sneaking into a building crawling with enemies and setting the mines all over their patrol paths. And the bottlecap mines do wicked damage!
But yeah those random encounters with the Enclave are pretty gnarly. And they make for some sweet loot.
In order to save the Sheriff, you have to be there when he confronts that guy. The two have a gun fight and Lucas Simms sucks apparently at that. So if you aren't there to kill the other guy then the sheriff dies.
If I remember right, he gets shot in the back. Although, he does suck at it and you basically have to pull a Solo and shoot first.
No, you can't turn into a ghoul. Unless there's a mod for it (which there may easily be). Ghouls background stories if I'm not mistaken is that they actually got their radiation dose during the initial nuclear fallout that occurred before the mass exodus to the vaults. I need to check on that again though cause I'm not entirely positive.
No, not all ghouls are from the war.
If you blow up Megaton, Moira can become a ghoul.
There is no "official" way of becoming a ghoul though...
Some of the best armor (with the exception of the stealth armor from Operation Anchorage) are the Enclave Hellfire sets. I personally like light armor though. I only wish they made more kinds of it. Eventually I'd cave in and go with the power armor. But for a long time throughout the game I think the recon light armor works just fine. Adds points to sneak as well. Basic power armor though can be found from dead Brotherhood members. You may have encounted the Outcasts as well. Their power armor is just as good as the Brotherhood's if I'm not mistaken. If you don't want to kill any of them to get it, sometimes it's worth just following them around when they are on patrol. If one gets killed, take all his shit. You need training though to wear the power armor which comes later in the game. So like I said, I'd stick the with recon armor or some other light armor in the meantime. But it's up to. There are heavy armors as well that aren't necessarily the power armors.
Personally, I just sold all the enclave equipment (after repaing it to max). I then bought an F-ton of stimpacks, put them on a hotkey, and just wore whatever looked cool (Pre-War Fedora and Col. Autumn's Trenchcoat or Pre-War Business wear for the modern, post apocalyptic, mafia look.)
Eeeh, you're making me wanna play F3 again. But I think I need a few more months before I have another go at that game. I'm hoping when Deus Ex comes out in August that it will keep me busy for several months till Skyrim. Then Skyrim needs to keep me busy until D3.
I am so burnt out on Fallout. Not only did I play FO3 way too much (as you can see from my answers, note I haven't played FO3 for close to a year), but I am also 2/3 of the way through completing all the end game story lines in New Vegas. I just can't play any more (but I will, force myself to finish Old World Blues and the next DLC).
i get too bored and i have to take a couple days break. things move along but once you get past the novelty of exploring and making choices it just becomes one giant fetch quest, or kill quest, but the dialog options and consequences of actions; curiosity, exploring, eventually lull me back in for a couple days...the cycle then reaches full circle and repeats.

I never played F3 on the computer, so once I get my new machine built, I think it will just be one of those late night relaxing games for me and I'll be trying out all the mods which will be new to me so I reckon there's some life yet in the game for me.
New Vegas I was interested in because what I understood about it is it was mostly the guys who were originally from Black Isle studios that developed it in their new company. My only problem though is that it looks way to campy and silly, like even for a Fallout game. I hate those police robots and I hate how tacky the New Vegas city is and all that. I've never really heard people discuss the plot of that game either so I wonder if it is a fun game plotwise. Cause the actual gameplay of Fallout has actually become rather boring.
And Moria didn't quite seem a ghoul to me yet. She just seemed like a crazy burned bitch. But her voice wasn't all raspy like the ghouls. She just seemed like something totally different. I bet she would've died soon instead of going on living as a ghoul. Isn't that also part of ghoul lore? Like, they are ghouls, but they are also sort of immortal now as far as they can't die of old age really.
she wasnt ghoulified like the others so we never know. but ghouls are supposed to age really slow and are resistant to radiation or can heal from small amounts of it or something.
a ghoul mod would be very fun, especially if the plot and npcs all recognised you as a ghoul.

Not that it's really F3's fault, but ghouls really lost all their mystique for me in that game. The original Fallout's ghouls are so much interesting for reasons I'm not even sure of. The Necropolis in F1 is definitely one of the things about it. Underneath their city they also had glowing ones that weren't feral but talked just like any of the others.
Yeah the Ghouls do have their own city in F3. But like in the original Fallout they had their own underground tunnels, a water processing plant, and power plant, like they were all seriously locked down and self-sufficient. It was kind of cool. They are still that was in F3, but it just feels more like they took over a single building in a city already controlled by super mutants and the Brotherhood. So they seem less autonomous in F3.
Hey, i just made it to rivet city now. But i havent played it much for past couple days due to doin some boozin.
I had a good time kicking the shit n pis outta the mutants ass all along the way to rivet city.
But now i dont feel like playing this anymore maybe im burnt out on it or sometrhing. Or maybe its cuz im past the action for now an have to talk to people in the rivet city. I really dont give a shit abuot what they say, it all sounds like this to me "blah, blah, horse shit, horse shit". i wish i can tell them to shut there fucking shit eatin faces up an to go an f*ck themselves for all i care. but i have to listen to all there horse shit so i quit playin this game for now.
You guys ever get burnt out on a game? i always do myself i must say. Sometimes i just want to play all action games with no bullshit talkin. like most rpgs with all the dialog. also, if your into doin some hard boozin. Rpg type games sux for being drunk. The best games for plkayin while boozin are fighting games, racing games an shooters for me.
not sure about you ghuys. But if i want to smoke some bud, i like the horrors silent hill an stuff.
I never played New Vegas. I was worried that like, yeah the gameplay isn't gonna be much different. May just feel like a really long expansion set of F3.
One of the best perks in F3 is the animal friend one. You don't need to upgrade it either. It's nice enough just having so many different animals not attack you on sight.
so i got some power armour from a druid guy. that was cool.

hey apples, did you get training to wear power armor? I found some off some dead brotherhood guys an i think it was an enclave guy i killed had some. but i cant wear them since it says i need training. What level is your guy now apples? mine is level 12 i think, i just used the here and now perk to level up my medicine up more an got the sniper perk. Got maxed repair, max lockpicks now and almost maxed small guns 60 something for medicine now for better heals from stimpacks. Think later i'll work on maxing energy weapons an get bit more medicine.
Just finished the quests from the chipper soundin lady in megaton. the one who wants to write a survival book. Now i gotta make a long journey to vault 112 i think it was to countinue looking for the guys dad. But i put that game on pause again for now, i'll play bit more later before i get burnt out on it again.
