Even tho when these games were released I was really into PC gaming only(late 90s - early 2000s) I totally missed these 2 games for some odd reason...the only games I played outside blizzard titles were basically baldurs gate series and some shooters like quake3, UT, and half life(CS)...Yeah theres no reason to tell you guys this so I just wanna know if its worth buying these 2 games???
Yes!!! Those games are totally worth getting, im actually going through IWD2 right now for like the 50th time. I personally liked IWD1 more since it was more similar to Baldurs Gate 1 and 2. But IWD2 isnt bad either, just a little less fun.

Pretty much but i would say that IWD1 has a more epic story, IWD2 not as much but still fun to play. Also IWD2 is more advanced and uses the 3.5 rules whereas IWD1 is less advanced and is basically BG1 with BG2 graphics, well once you install Heart of Winter. Oh i also reccomend getting the Trials of the Luremaster expansion for IWD1 its and add on that gives new areas/items/quests/monsters its pretty fun, also its free you just need to find a site that lets you download it. A good one would be sorcerersplace.net.

Well then I guess ill be getting em tomorrow haha gonna buy the entire thing off my friend! :P....one last question is the game more compatible with windows XP then BG1 and 2? cuz even tho i can get em running pretty well theres a bit of messing around with them to make them run properly on new hardware and even then its not perfect(slowdown with spell effects... etc)
IWD 2 uses 3rd edition rules. IWD 1 and BG and BG2 use second edition rules.
So that changes gameplay quite a bit. over all it's the same (they all use the same graphics engine (Infinity)), but assigning talents and skills is quite different in IWD 2 that it was for IWD 1 and the BG series.
Still fun though.

so IWD2 has feats, stat point every 4 levels, and prisetiege classes?
Own them proudly. BG and IW1 was one of the few games I started on the computer with (after Diablo o'course ) and boy was I hooked. I rather liked the IWD2 story, and seeing how the world had changed since the first one. Plus the extra classes, feats, etc.
If you want to experience another game in the same hash (since you said you missed IW1&2 ) try and find a cheap copy of Planescape: Torment. Best game with that engine and ruleset, and amazingly amazingness in terms of story and dialogue.

Planetscape is amazing. I wish you could still buy it.

Yeah...i started that when it came out on a friends pc....it was sick for the few hours i managed to play it....to bad D2 took over my entire gaming life hahaha
Edit: Oh yeah, I feel you there man. IWD1's prerendered backgrounds were sometimes confusing. In the second one though, you could hold down like alt or something and see the chests you could open, barrels, doors, exits, etc. I was so excited when I found that out. lol

You could eBay it....but it can get expensive. A couple years ago I checked and it was 80 bucks+ a jewel case.

Yea the slowdown happens to me to when i cast some big area effect spells. But i guess thats just because of Vista or XP issues, i know what you mean about BG1 and BG2 i had some issues with those too and i had to look around to find the solution, but if you have any issues just tell me i can probably help out.
