Well, lately I've been reading around the forums and stuff, especially that "Do Aliens exist?" thread. There was one article posted there (that was obviously completely bull due to the horrible dates provided) that mentioned both the Pyramids in Egypt and the Nazca Lines in Peru.
Those two being mentioned, and my recent watchings of youtube videos on Angkor Wat reminded me of an old SNES game I played when I was a wee tot. Its called Illusion of Gaia, and was one of the games I grew up with, and I think it is probably one of my favourites, just because of the sheer plot, characters, the abursdity of it all, and the use of all the common places here today (like the Great Wall of China, Angkor Wat, Pyramids, Tower of Babel). This is probably why I was so interested in ancient history, and always made me appreciate the existance of the Nazca Lines and Angkor what in reality - and in all honesty I'd love to visit both palces sometime during my life.
And so I came to wonder, what is everyone else's game that they played when they were young, and possibly influenced them in some way, and have always held a special place in their heart for? Has it ever really influenced you in what you wanted to do in life? Did it ever make you want to travel and stuff? Please, do share.

Back when I was 7 or 8 I saw tarzan at a computer store and asked my dad to buy it, he walked up to the clerk and asked for it but they where out of stock.
I started crying and my parents tried to make me feel better but I went to bed.
in the morning I walked downstairs to see a copy of tarzan sitting on the counter with a note from my dad.
Played the game so much :P, too bad I didn't get past the fourth or fifth level.
I remember looking at some older people playing Simon the sorccerer when it first came out in 95 or something... Then after 10 years i downloaded it and finished it, it was one of the best experiences i have ever had with pc gaes... it feltlike i was playing the game for a second time although i was only looking at it when i was 5 years old... anyway...
I really liked the drawn art style of those old games... its so nostalgic.
Good ol' Gran Turismo 2, first game I got with my dad when we moved to the new house, we played the shit out of that game ^^.
Also helped me find some fav cars, like the dodge viper, and lotus elise *drools*.
Final Fantasy 7 was great too, loved that game so much. Never did finish it though. I got to the final boss, then my cd broke. I nearly had a stroke. Still to this day have never beaten the game
And Morrowind ! Somewhat recent game, but still nonetheless the most memorable game experience I have ever had.

I loved Final Fantasy, I look forward to the Final Fantasy 13 to come out. Back in the nintendo 64 days, I liked mario 64, star fox 64, goldeneye 007. Halo was a favorite game of mine, a little bit less Halo 2, and Halo 3 I liked too.
There are some classic regular nintendo games that are occasionaly fun to play, but somewhat depressing to play at the same time because they are so old. games like the origional zelda, mario one and three.
Obviously I like Diablo2, never played Diablo one, Diablo 2 I have played to death so many times sometimes its hard to go back and play it again. I remember it to be such a good game though that I simply can't wait for the third iteration of the game to come out, especially in its 3D greatness. I think there is going to be a lot of things from WOW that the developers learned from that they will import into Diablo 3 in a unique way.
Raymen, first game on the Playstation, and arguably my first real video game. The one game that affected my schoolwork negatively as I recall. Fantastic by the way, played it through last year and still liked it.
Then there was the game Pyramid (swedish game, developed for learning purposes) which gave me an interest in ancient egypt at an early age.
Other than that, I can't think of any other games which have actually affected me directly in real life. Well, apart from Diablo 2 since I'm here and all. But I don't really count that, it's sort of a given
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
The Zelda games will always hold a place in my gaming heart...also Chrono Trigger (and Cross which no one really likes supposedly). I still find myself reminiscing on really old 2D PC games like Duke Nukem (the side scroller not the FPS) and there was a spy one too. Who can forget Wolfenstein and the original Doom and Doom II.
heXen II... because the whole family got stuck trying to find the Staff of Horus.
Of course, Heretic I, heXen I, WarCraft II, Diablo I, Age of Empires I-II, Dark Forces, Quake I, Unreal Na Pali (we never had original lol), Myst I-III (II was too hard) had a special place, as well.

It had to have been Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for PS1. I would like to play all the NFS and RE game series'. I also loved Sonic on the old Sega. I believe I still have it.

I hated its multiplayer. But I loved the campaign. And I wasn't among one of the millions who felt the campaign ended too abruptly. It was still longer and had more depth than Halo 3's campaign.
Halo 3's campaign was utter shit for depth and length, it was the most fun to play through with friends though.
I've never actually played number 2, really gotta go out and get myself a copy..

I actually loved both passionately, though I never finished the latter. I forget what happened to the game. Maybe I lost it... Weird.

p.s Blood Omen too XD
Beyond that there was Chrono Trigger, Civilization 1 for SNES, Mario Kart for SNES, and Contra which I had a lot of fun playing with my older brother.
Jumping into the future, I think Mass Effect was pretty memorable. Especially the part where you find out the truth about Saren's "mother ship".
