Is Baldur's Gate II, called Shadow's of Amn? cuz i got a copy of it. I never knew you could play online with it, err at least i couldn't figure it out.
I've played Icewind Dale I and II, and they were tight (fighters pwn). And I believe these came out after BG 1 and 2? Do BG 1and 2 have that THAC0? Cuz that shit is gay
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal (Expansion Pack)
Yep, they have THAC0. But it's not gay at all. The only thing bad about BG is that you really need to have an understanding of the rules to be able to enjoy it. FIrst time i played it I have no idea how it worked (since the ony pen&paper I've played is the Swedish version, which indeed is BAD). Once you learn that though, the game becomes so much more enjoyable.

yes it does, from the menu screen you go to multiplayer select the tcp/ip connection then go to join game and type in the host address of the host player you wish to play with. but if that doesnt work you need to download the hamachi virtual private network, open it up before you start up BG2 then type in the hamachi address it will assign to the host instead of his regular IP address.
you can get hamchi here http://www.hamachi.cc/, once downloaded you will need to join the same VPN as the host.

yes it does, but i hardly notice sometimes you hit some times you dont, its seems ok on larger or powerful targets, but when you miss hitting a goblin then it sucks

Aahh memories, never finished BG2 though. Played with a retinue of paladins and fighter/clerics.My character was pal too.First time i played-got frustrated Minsc died and threw the CD somewhere -still can't find it, second time it took too long - tried to finish every possible quest. I got bored and had newer games to play so forgot about it, now I can't even find the Cds... anyway, gamed it a long time ago and I'm gonna get the whole baldur's battle chest 1+exp. 2=exp. Aren't the other titles just for PSs?
Recognized some of the pics, why don't you have any form Throne of Baal?
1.Elven City..
2.it was some quest to find a guy, lst one of his family , forgot name
3.In slums I think
4.Don't know this one
5.Minsc was killed by Yoshimoto, damn his name
6.These guys were just asking for it. Party on party fights are the best.
7.????

9.Saved this guy as well, but got framed
10.Haha- I hate this part- always kill them in over 10 mins.Too long
11.An interesting level, undead and spiders.
What do you think an optimal character and partywould be ( Forgot names so only write classes)>>
1.Orc fighter 2.Ranger(Minsc) 3.Druid/Fighter-Cleric 4.Keldorn(he's the man) 5.I don't like playing with thieves(except for pickpocket and Multiplier damage)
6.Sorc(Aerie or someone else)

1 Half Orc Fighter/Cleric,
so i can do the multiple stronghold glitch, only works with mutliclassed Fighters, and i sick of being the only one left in my party and i can revive anyone
2 Human Paladin,
someone needs to use Carsomyr +5, and only a Paladin can do that
3 Half Orc Berserker,
i need another good pure class tank, and with H/O's having 19 STR and 19 Con, well there you go.
4 Half Elf Cleric/Ranger,
uses both cleric and druid spells, plus racial enemy, and other ranger bonuses.
5 Halfling Thief,
disarm traps, backstab, hide in shadows to scope out the area ahead
6 Elf Fighter/Mage,
multiclasses mages can wear elven chainmail, and no penalties for wearing armor, so you can have a mage with an armor class of -11, my tanks hardly ever have an armor class that good.
basic party set up for me is 1) Me 2)Paladin 3) Tank 4) Healer 5) Thief 6)Mage.
1 heavy hitter/divine caster, 2 heavy hitters, 1 back up hitter/healer/divine caster 1 thief 1 arcane caster
its a pretty good party.
ideally you want at least 1 divine and 1 arcane caster. 2 and 2 is better.
unless you want to powergame then you can bust out Kensai/mage, and well cleric ranger is kind of a powergame class too, but its been ages so ive forgotten how.

Thanks to Elfen, I have now played BG. I found it enjoyable, but a bit slow to be Diablo like. I also found it confusing, but that was probably because I was a noob at it.
sure there are games closer to Diablo than Baldur's Gate, (the title does say somewhat, it didnt say it was a clone), but once you get over your intital noob status, its a pretty fun game, like Diablo.
I often switch between the two series, not that im saying they in any way accompany each other, as they differ hugely, but the BG series, esp BGII is still a really good game, once you get part the inital stages.
medieval fantasy setting, awesome isometric view (well sorta), great story and characters, lots of items to use (though there are restrictions), replayability, longivity, it is by no means a short game, NPCs are for the most part, not emotionless zombies following you round like the mercs in Diablo, great quests (there are a few fex-ed ones, but they usually get you an awesome reward), you can mod it should you get bored. gotta love that.

@Winston
You should try out Icewind Dale 2. It's a bit more fast paced(action-wise), but the levels are a bit more boring- as in longer with same monsters (Some of them at least). Try ID 1 +exp. as well. @Elfen Lied You're a BG authority, right? I wanted to buy BG 2 all over again, so I did( lost previous CDs). It should arrive in Monday. The thing is- the guys there said I could return it free of charge only if I did't open the box, so I was wondering - will BG 2 SoA + ToB work on a 64- bit system? I run on a XP Proffesional x64. Don't wanna go on Vista. Answer me before Monday, so I don't open it and find out it doesn't work, OK? If it doesn't - could you show me where I could download a patch or something?

Wait, you said an AC of -11, what edition ruiles does BGII use? Cause I'm only familiar with 3.0 (kinda) and 3.5. I know 3.5 rules. Monster Manual? Mostly memorized, yes, memorized.
What are you talking bout Sofawall? AC might be opposite in BG from ID: +AC might be good , maybe bad, try it out and you'll see. Maybe you were talking about the AC of the sorc\fighter? I think that ability- cast spells and wear armor is only on certain magic armor. I think

SO how would it compare? How do you determine a hit? In ver. 3.5, you roll a d20, add any attack bonus (magic weapons, feats, base attack bonus etc.) and compare it against the enemies AC. If you get above it, you land the hit. How does it work in BGII?
And I know some classes, some feats, some armopurs, some magical properties can allow you to cast arcane spells whilst wearing armour. I also know that divine spells have no failure chance, which is somewhat deside the point.
Dude, if you only play D&D computer games, then does it matter?- the PC does all the math. If you're into the throwing dice thing- who knows. Haven't read D&D manual since 2001. I think BG1 uses original 1st edition rules. BG2 2nd...

Well, I found knowing 3rd edition rules helped me in KOTOR 2. I knew what was happening, with all the skills, what they do, how it works. I like knowing the game mechanics, when possible.

BGII uses second edition rules. in which, the lower your armor class the better.
6 Elf Fighter/Mage,
multiclasses mages can wear elven chainmail, and no penalties for wearing armor, so you can have a mage with an armor class of -11, my tanks hardly ever have an armor class that good.

if you need to roll a 7 to hit, and you try to attack someone with armor class -11, i think it adds the armor class to your roll 7 + -11 therefore 7 - 11 = -4, you cant get that on a D20 so you miss. also you'd miss if you got a natural 1, so anything less than that must also be a miss.
not really sure, alls i knows is, a mage with that armor class does very well, only the really powerful stuff seem to hit him, and my tanks usually distract them, so my mage can rock the big spells.

THAC0 is an acronym for "To Hit Armor Class 0". This is the number a character, NPC or monster needs to attack an Armor Class 0 target successfully
For example, a 3rd Level FIghter has a THAC0 of 18. He is attacking a Hobgoblin with an AC of 5. THe AC of the Goblin is subtracted from the THAC0, giving a "to hit" number of 13, if the fighter rolls a 13 or higher on a 20 sided die, he hits successfully and does damage.
right so it seems i was correct, uh somewhat, subtracting -11 would be the same as adding it, and 7 + 11 is 18, that would get you bashed, and a mage in -11 armor class doesnt get bashed by much.
unless it subtracts when the armor class is positve, like in the hobgoblin example, and adds the armor class when the armor class is negative, like in my example. yeh that must be it.

As im sure you've realized NWNs is not only like Baldurs gate its linked to NWN via the blade coast. All three of the games are insanely fun, so i would have to say that all three of them are similar on a certain level.
