I don't think it's fair for you to judge the games unless you've played them.
While Resistance is a fun game, it doesn't deserve the praise it's gotten. After reading reviews and hearing bout it from people I expected a whole lot more.
The way the story advances is laughable. The combat is completely retarded because the enemies, on normal difficulty no less, are ridiculously accurate and even have weapons that shoot through buildings and cover. In fact cover is almost useless because somehow your body always sticks out somewhere and you get hit anyway.
You pretty much have to run back and forth across the screen shooting . It's like when you play an online game with people, and you have those douchebags that just run back and forth in front of you blasting away. That's how you have to play that game ...
The story is pretty good though - so it's very disappointing the way they chose to tell it.
Also, the levels can be like 5 minutes long to 15 ... I mean c'mon .. it's like a game of mini-levels.
I picked one of them... *shruggs*
GoW 3-2? Didn't you just compare them to Resistance?
Halo 3? I keep hearing it's much worse than 1 and 2.
Resistance is the most horrible relatively popular FPS I have ever played, including DooM, and I hate DooM. I don't understand how this excuse for a video game ever got anywhere. I guess that's saying something about the deterioration of intelligence in the population.
Heavy Rain is interesting, but it's not out yet.
Tales of Vesperia? Please don't tell me you mean this game: http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Games/T/Tales%20of%20Symphonia%20-%20Dawn%20of%20the%20New%20World/Bulk%20Viewer/Wii/2008-04-16/screenshot_172--article_image.jpg
I dunno about Lost Odyssey, the fact that it's Asian annoys me a bit.
Star Ocean IV? FF ripoff # 342325?
FF13Versus: yes, I'd rather play this than Vesperia, Star Ocean, and the rest of its clones.
Don't know much about Killzone, it's our next candidate. Although, after Resistance, we're a bit wary of popular FPS titles. They're going down the drain with alarming speed.
What's funny is that you didn't mention one game that I actually consider worthwhile. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. We must have drastically contrasting tastes.
your right, tales of vesperia is NOT that game. That is tales of symphonia (the first one was amazing) Dawn of the new world, which is on wii. Vesperia is probablly the best rpg out this gen. Well i should say JRPG, although i like it better than fallout 3 and fable II anyway.
How the heck is Star ocean a FF ripoff? the battle system isnt even similar...do you know anything about this game?
I mentioned uncharted 1 and 2 (upcoming) before, just not in that small list i just made replying to you.

Amen. I'm not a Wii fanatic, but those are the reasons I bought my Wii. I, too, wish they didn't go this route. Despite the appeal it has to an uneducated (in terms of gaming) casual gamer, it desperately lacks in what I believe has defined a good system and many good games for generations. Most of their titles are just multiplayer games that have no rhyme or reason, and honestly, it doesn't feel like gaming when I have to focus on moving on top of the actual game. If I want exercise, I go for a run or hit up my friends for a little soccer. If I want a game, I expect full orchestrated musical brilliance, a resounding story line, and optimal visual graphics. Period.
However, for what the system is doing sociologically I appraise it. It's breaking that wall that has separated in most peoples' minds all other forms of entertainment and itself. It's becoming more commonplace and will likely garner more positive acclaim than it has in the past- when the older generations simply passed them off as entertainment and not an art, because movies are so different.
haha i agree with that 100 %. But honestly i think there are actually a good few games out and comming up.
out now:
SSBB (i dont think it changed enough from melee, but still great)
Wario Ware (personally this game is fun IMO...weird, no reason to it, but fun for parties)
Mario Party (i havent played 8? lol idk what we are on, but i do love mario party games, although they are made way to often.)
Metroid Prime 3 (my least favorite prime, but still...its METROID lol.)
mario Galaxy (Prob the best wii game to date.)
mario Kart (I heard it was a letdown...probably the worst first party title of the known series)
SSX: Blur (a good game, but i liked 3 better)
Zack and Wiki (i hear its short but very fun)
Animal Crossing (hardly changed the game it seems and that frustrates me)
super paper mario (i loved the RPG ones personally)
...i guess there are more good ones that i havent played, such as no more heroes.
upcoming:
The conduit
Red Steel 2
Madworld
Upcoming Zelda (who knows lol....but i want a REAL wii zelda game lol)
Fatal Frame IV (is it comming to US?)
fragile (if it comes to the US)
Rune Factory
FFCC: crystal Bearers
New metroid game or more content to the Wii play control version of MP1 and 2 (they hinted at a space pirate story comming)
Kid icarus (rumor)
No more heroes 2
Cursed Mountain
Namco said they want to bring more tales of games to the wii
Lydeck did a good job explaining why I didn't like Resistance, although I could pick it apart with greater detail (my dad actually finished the whole game, lol).

Well, if that's symphonia, it's probably really similar to Vesperia, since most of the images seem to be the same style: http://faytforever.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/945075_20080625_screen007.jpg
Is this it?
I'm going to be honest here: I do not intend to play anything that insists on looking like a cartoon with dark edges...

"similar" is subjective. Divided limited combat is what I call the FF system. For me, that is easily the whole entire JRPG genre. Why do you think it's called JRPG? Not because it's Asian, because it's all the same with minor tweaks here and there. Just because they add in range and make it "real time" doesn't really change it. It's like saying NWN is real time. Yeah, it sort of is. But it really isn't. I think FF11 or 12 was pseudo real time, too, forgot which...

Yeah, which makes you think you don't consider it much of a great game? I didn't play it yet, but it looks like something I'll like a lot.

yes that is vesperia, and it is AMAZING
So basically every shooter that comes out is a ripoff of goldenye 64? Thats the logic you put behind JRPG's lol.
Personally I think you should keep your 360 and get a PS3....I know I said it before but damm man both have great exclusives....tho the PS3 is looking far stronger this year at least
If resistance was such a bad title it wouldn't necessarily be game of the year for 2006, I admit the 2nd one was shit probably the worst shooter I have played to date on the PS3 and thats because they tried to make it like halo where every gun is underpowered Which isn't a bad idea necessarily but when combined with 60 player multiplayer its impossible to stay alive or maintain a killing spree.
Donsro try not to act like a fanboy both systems are great to a certain extent. (PS3 the system itself is better and the 360 I love the shooters).
Now now now. I won't take that... Sony produced the most capable console not just for a little halo series like microsoft. People just can't think deep these days hmmm.
PERSONALLY i was a nintendo fanboy and loved all of their systems right up until the wii.
The 360 (besides pc) is my first ever system that is not nintendo. I loved the snes, 64, and cube all so much! That being said, I wished the wii had better graphics, better online support, and more good "hardcore" games. But even though they took a turn that doesnt fit me, i will probablly pick up a wii, because of the first party titles alone. I LOVE mario, metroid and zelda. Mario galaxy rocks, and metroid prime 3, although not my favorite, is amazing as well. I just want more good titles then i can justify buying it.
Although nintendo went this route, their games are like no other, regardless of graphics.
The playstation 3 is actually a VERY good system, and arguably the best this gen. But it all depends on what you want for software. I think i will actually stick with the 360 because i love some of the games and more so, they have better games for non FPS titles, and lets face it, dual stick controllers SUCK compared to PC and even wii for FPS's lol. So that being said, i am hopeful for the conduit and red steel 2, but more so excited to see what the next zelda will be (if they screw that up, i will probablly dishone them forever).
So basically every shooter that comes out is a ripoff of goldenye 64?
Every shooter that does not bother to differentiate itself from Goldeneye. But I didn't play Goldeneye.
If game B basically makes me do the same thing as game A did, I call that a rippoff. "same" doesn't mean the genre, it means the game flow and gameplay. I found that JRPG's are extremely similar between themselves. Why call them that way? Call them RPG's just like everything else.
Most shooters are rippoffs of DooM, in fact. Probably not Goldeneye (stealth elements). Not heXen (fantasy + puzzle + RPG elements). Not a bunch of other games. But most are.
Actually the PS2 outsold the xbox and gamecube by far
and every month since july except december, the PS3 has been outselling the 360 (not sure about the wii since they sell like hotcakes).
Just because a system is much more capable doesn't make it better, it has alot of other factors such as games, service, and what you have to do to achieve those capabilities.
Honestly I think the PS3's lineup in 2009 is going to blow the xbox and possibly the wii away.
I was playing Gears of War 2 today and I was 7 kills and 1 death so I charge up to this guy to blow his face of with my shotgun. Then my xbox turns off and im like "oh hell no"
I turn it on and I have Ring of Death
fuck my life T_T

If it were me though, I'd go 360 or, perferably, Wii. (Yea, I'll admit in a heartbeat I'm a Nintendo faboy, and damn proud of it!)
Gamecube=Xbox>>>PS2
Wii>360>>>>>>>>>>ps3
These statistics speak for themselves.
