Amazing, the graphics are unbeliveble and its really fun to meet new people. today i walked into the mall and there was like 1000 people walking around just like in a real mall buying clothes, hitting on girls, playing games at the arcade. this is program is like a second life.
you can buy your own apartment on the beach, mountains, ect
decorate it with what ever
go to town square talk to the some people
when you get bored you can go bowling or go play pool with other people
go to the mall and shop
Ps3 home is amazing

my rating for ps3 home?
9/10 graphics (could be better)
10/10 Sound (very realistic)
10/10 gameplay (very fun, alot too do, talk to your friends ect
I agree with goodguy! If I wanna go party or bowling I won't go and turn on my PS3, I'll just go in real life. The worst thing is, I heard in a GTA IV interview with an IGN reviewer that it would have been cool if they had removed the violence and Gangster part from the game and only kept the LIFE SIMULATOR intact. All this because he liked to visit places and play bowling, darts, take the cab and smoke mari with the Haitian guy.....come on dude... that's just plain stupid. Plus people tend to forget this is virtual, not reality. Like when they say they have like 100 friends! Ya right ¬_¬, more playmates than friends really. Next thing on the market will be a shit simulator and a handshake simulator, there will also be a job interview simulator and a president election simulator.... hey why not make a giant simulator where everyone is connected and interacts with each other. Ho! I forgot... it's called the matrix !
I still reckon its a nice idea once content starts flooding the thing and heaps of new areas are opened up by developers, advertisers, etc but at the moment its boring as hell.

yea its is actually pretty boring but the new content is going to be pouring in soon. i hear they will add a mode where you can play a game along with your friends even if you don't have it. that would be amazing

It is also extremely buggy, unbalanced, and you can't save in it.
its beta, its auto save other than that your right, but you have to rember its in beta
Madden exists so people who have no chance to play professional football can play professional football in some capacity. Same goes for all sports games, racing games, and games where you kill hookers or terrorists.
Here lies Home's problem. I can walk around and talk to people. I can furnish my residence. Hell, I can even go bowling. So can most people. Not only that, but the odds of me waiting in line to bowl in real life are lower than in Home. Piss poor design? You bet.
You've been goodguyed. (I think this should be the new term for owned/pwnt on this forum.)

alright let me put it this way what if i was playing NBA street, or NFL street. i believe you were claiming that why do these things in game when you can't do them in real life. maybe people lack the skill to play those sports or to shoot some one in the face. people use games. same case with home, people just play it to have fun. and this is not something that people play. its just something extra you have to mess around with on the system.
once again as sad is might sound people play games to either have fun or get away from reality.

DGK., I was talking about real life.
sorry thought you were speaking of Home, my mistake.
once again as sad is might sound people play games to either have fun or get away from reality.
I don't blame people for getting away from reality by playing Playstation home, I blame them for using that game as an alternative to real life. Like instead of going skate outside they use Home to simulate what could have been a way to better themselves. They may make friends online, but at the detriment of their own real lives. People tend to lose themselves into these kind of "games". Instead of asking some friends to go do some paintball, they'll say like :" hey guys lets all connect and go bowling in playstation home". Ya right, I call this being a lazy freaking ass. I mean, don't get me wrong but everything you do in Playstation home, you can do it in real life. This is completely different from a game like NFL 09 and NHL 09 (which I of course play from time to time). In sports games, you play as real NFL teams, with dream players like Favre and Brandy. In home, you're yourself in a virtual world, this is completely different from shooting games or RPG (ROLE PLAYING GAMES). And the big difference comes here in games and reality. It's ok to become an pilot or a soldier to forget about your day to day life. What's not ok is to make a new life to evade your present one. What's not ok, is to meet fake people in a fake world. Time spent in Playstation home is time that you could have spent making yourself better at something else. Like getting better at basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer. To me, getting better at a sport or at a crafting hobby has more value than to beat the living hell from someone in japan at a virtual bowling game hosted in Thaïwan.
It is also extremely buggy, unbalanced, and you can't save in it.
You do realize it was the beta that's been released, right?
I don't blame people for getting away from reality by playing Playstation home, I blame them for using that game as an alternative to real life.
It's just a different form of communication and entertainment. It's not like you cook or something. And, simulation games, like The Sims, have been the most popular gross selling games in history.
Like instead of going skate outside they use Home to simulate what could have been a way to better themselves.
Um, okay. So when I was to play Oblivion, instead I should go grab my friends and act out D&D? It's just a game, meant to be played. People take things to extremes all the time.
They may make friends online, but at the detriment of their own real lives.
A "life" is a matter of perspective. Just because I meet someone in real life doesn't mean the experience of meeting them was in any way better than if I met them on the net. The net is good in that it lets people express who they really are inside. For instance, in most cases if I see a cocky Paladin jerk on Battle.net, I'll know that in real life he's really a dick. Why? Because he exploits the internet to show off his e-penis. If I met him in real life, and talked to him for any length of time, I would most likely discover that he is just as much an arrogant moron as he is online, just that offline he's a pathetic, scrawny, pubescent teen who never saw the light of day.
However, on the same note, I meet plenty of wonderful people online who give up stuff that they spent their own time finding. I find people that are generally good conversationalists. I find people who like to reminisce about the global news. Heck, I learned about the government system of New Zealand when I was playing Diablo with Genesis.
People tend to lose themselves into these kind of "games". Instead of asking some friends to go do some paintball, they'll say like :" hey guys lets all connect and go bowling in playstation home". Ya right, I call this being a lazy freaking ass.
Lol, they're two completely different forms of entertainment. You can't relate them. Period. It would be like comparing sky-diving to chess.
I mean, don't get me wrong but everything you do in Playstation home, you can do it in real life.
That's the point. Minus cooking, taking a shit, getting a job, etc. We reserve those for real simulation games. If people find fun in that, it's their opinion, and you can't rightfully say their opinion is wrong.
This is completely different from a game like NFL 09 and NHL 09 (which I of course play from time to time). In sports games, you play as real NFL teams, with dream players like Favre and Brandy.
Why don't you call up all your buddies and play a real game of football instead of sitting infront of a TV? You're a hypocrite.
HOME isn't designed to replace your life. I don't know anyone on PSN who even stays in HOME long enough to desginate such a statement. My brother, his friends, and mind just log on to HOME to get a game started and organized.
What's not ok, is to meet fake people in a fake world.
Um, you do realize the psychological principle that when people are on the internet their real personality comes out because there are no restraints? So in most cases, you know more about a person on the net than you do in real life. Namely, their attitude they wish they could reflect in real life, their language (I know a lot of people that curse way more on the net than in RL), their benevolence, their ability to take leadership responsibilities, and, of course, there's always more.
Time spent in Playstation home is time that you could have spent making yourself better at something else. Like getting better at basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer.
The same can be said about ANY video game. Playing FIFA doesn't make you a better soccer player, playing soccer does. The point of playing a VIDEO G A M E is to find release from real life and to be ENTERTAINED, not learn new skills (although, of course, there are plenty of games that do help you to learn).
To me, getting better at a sport or at a crafting hobby has more value than to beat the living hell from someone in japan at a virtual bowling game hosted in Thaïwan.
And that's a matter of opinion, but I guess you said that. To me, it would depend on my mood, if I was being provoked by said person (think of people getting cheap kills on you repetitively and calling you degrading names- don't lie, we've all been there), then hell yeah, I'd feel a whole lot better ripping their goddamn virtual head off. Now, if I was in a creative mood, I'd go paint with my acrylics or work on my piano, or if I was in an "I feel like moving" mood, I'd go take a few miles to run.
Um, okay. So when I was to play Oblivion, instead I should go grab my friends and act out D&D? It's just a game, meant to be played. People take things to extremes all the time.

There is a huge problem with your logic.
You bet.
Most people WON'T play playstation home at the detriment of their lives, but in some cases yes. This was aimed at them.
Um, okay. So when I was to play Oblivion, instead I should go grab my friends and act out D&D? It's just a game, meant to be played. People take things to extremes all the time.
No, I think I wasn't clear enough about that particular point. If you wanna play as a knight and kill monsters... go ahead play Oblivion. It's entertainment like watching TV, playing chess or even playing D&D. My example about skating was something that can easily be done with some organization and will. Skating benefits health and well being. Playing playstation home where you see someone (you) skating with friends brings nothing more than entertainment. Real Skating = entertainment + health, Virtual Skating = Entertainment. Some people will prefer the playstation skating over real skating. This, my friend, is the problem.
Why don't you call up all your buddies and play a real game of football instead of sitting infront of a TV? You're a hypocrite.
Why are you calling me an hypocrite? I don't organise football games with my friends because we don't quite like playing football (except me). On the other hand, I organise regular hockey games and we sometimes play for 8 hours straight. I'm not an hypocrite, I am bound to what I say and true to my word. When I play NHL 09 I'm not me, I'm Crosby or Kovalev and I play against the best hockey players in the world. In reality I'm a good hockey player, but never as good and talented as these guys are. Therefore, I will never be able to enter the NHL. NHL 09 permits me to do that! Just like when you play oblivion. Playstation online.... no I can go to my house and decorate, I can invite people for parties, I can play bowling, I can walk in the streets.
HOME isn't designed to replace your life. I don't know anyone on PSN who even stays in HOME long enough to desginate such a statement. My brother, his friends, and mind just log on to HOME to get a game started and organized.
I agree with you. It shouldn't replace your life, but it can. I have seen totally cool people become total hermits only because of WOW. Wow isn't supposed to replace your life cause it's a game. Yet it can and it did with them. Sad thing to see but totally possible.
I haven't seen it that way and I must agree with you. Most people are total bitches only cause the psychological barrier is totally non existant. You can meet real friends online, but the problem appears when it's only online. This is only my opinion, but according to me a friend that you've know for a long time and lived cool experiences in real and virtual life with is more complete than an internet only friend. ( I really hate to categorised friends like that BTW). It's a sentimental thing at the end of the road. You meet a friend online and have good happy feeling about him/her, great. There is a difference between a person you know and a friend.
No, but these are different experiences. Playing NHL 09 and playing real hockey are 2 totally different things. When NHL 09 becomes the alternative of playing real hockey, you have a big problem. When Playstation home becomes the alternative for real life, you have a gigantic problem. Variation is the key here. When you do something too much, you're an addict. When you do a little bit of this and a little bit of that, it's perfectly natural and normal. To illustrate my point i'll set an example : imagine a guy that plays playstation home and meets people online and is having the time of his life. John (his name), gets the visit of Mike (best real friend) who's proposing him to go to a football game. John who's really into a playstation home party, declines Mike's offer saying that he isn't in the mood for a football game (this, right here, is perfectly ok). The next day, John decides to go shop at the playstation home mall and ... suprize Mike is back and this time he wants to go shop for a TV proposing John to come along to the futureshop. John also declines this offer cause he doesn't really want to buy anything new.(this is also ok). So John continues to play Playstation home, some bowling games, darts all is nice. 4 months pass and John still plays Playstation home religiously and is never in the mood for anything anymore. Why move when you can have everything delivered to your house....right? Mike never comes by anymore, he already knows that John is not in the mood for anything. But who cares about Mike... John now has 230 friends and up... 1 less friend doesn't matter, right? John now has 230 pounds of extra fat, but who cares? John is in the worst state, ever! He can hardly move his hand without having a chest pain, but who cares? His paladin level 89 can do 204895474 damage and wields the sword of Knidoquad. Ya, find someone who really cares... ho wait that's what friends are for no? He actually has 230 real friends he really knows cause .... well internet knows boundaries. I'm pretty sure they all care very very very much about his state!
When a playstation game becomes an alternative to real life, yes, you have a problem:
real life sucks.
And if you really want to say anything that makes sense, you can only say that the very fact that people play such games signals that they do not want, or do not have access to, the real life alternative.
For instance, I'd love to play flag football with friends but I have no such friends, since most guys have this view that girls can't play football. I'd love to talk to real living people but, you see, every year or two I move to a new location and all my contacts are gone and I'm not exactly one of those super-duper social people who get friends the moment they meet people.
So speak for yourself, will you?
This whole idea of video game addiction exists only because some people are miserable/not happy enough in real life, or are not interested in it. And that's a problem. But that's not a video game problem. It's a life problem. Why is that life miserable? Why is it boring? Because that's how it was made and presented to those particular people. THAT needs to change first and foremost.
If you overload a kid with tons of homework, chores, parental problems, peer pressure, advertisement, idiot adults, and tons of other shit when neither his brain nor his body simply can't handle all that stuff, this is what you get. Video games are giving us a warning. Improve the quality of life or you're going to gauge humanity into self-destruction. How many people would kill themselves by now if instinct of self-destruction was gone? How many people actually enjoy existence rather than fear death hence continue living? How many people would be depressed, going out to get drunk, getting prostitutes, if those same people weren't playing video games? I suspect those numbers are very large, in a scary kinda way.

I'm pretty sure they all care very very very much about his state!
real life sucks.
