Not without the proper lore based on other games. All I know is it would have to be Diablo or Starcraft related. But because SC is already gunna be pulling in the people for RTS That only leaves Diablo.

Why could it not be a new franchise? All of these are a decade or older by now. Maybe something new?

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
They would start it off as something much smaller than an MMO. MMO's cost a lot of money so it would have to be something that they KNOW will pull in tons and tons of people before kicking it off. They'd need a fan base first which a new franchise wouldn't get.

I don't see why. Many companies start off with MMO's and are very successful.

Who said that the MMO will not be the factor that will pull in those tons and tons of people before kicking off with something else?

Wrong, they do not need a fan base, as they already have one. A Blizzard fanbase, not just fanbases for all of their games. A new franchise definitely could get a big fanbase, so I don't know where you're coming at with this argument.

I would agree with this. Blizzard seems to want all of their games to have a rich storyline initially. Otherwise, people are just wandering a massive world without really knowing much about it. It just doesn't seem Blizzards style to go straight into an MMO without making a regular game for it first.
Exactly Siay. Blizz didn't start with MMO's though. They start off small. If you want to fund an MMO you want to make sure you have tons of people who are gunna start playing right off the get-go. Not to mention, Blizzard will finish their old franchises before making another one, I'm sure.

Well their franchises started before the year 2000 so I doubt any company would start off with MMO's at that time.

I think that WC will be done after 2 more expansions(not including WotLK) so that the level cap is level 100 and you eventually have to fight the god that took control of the orcs in the first place.(forget his name. Kil'Jaedan or something like that?)
I definatley think It'l be somethign new and fresh.
With the reputation Blizzard has, I don't there would be any trouble getting a new franchise off the ground.
More specifically, I'm hoping it's a MMOFPS.
I heard there are a few of the like floating around here and there, but if blizzard could honestly make a solid MMOFPS, it could make major hits taking the best of both worlds for PC gaming.
I think it will be either StarCraft or an entirely new franchise. No other alternatives really seem likely to me.

"So I like climb out the window and I fall because we’re on the third floor , but it’s cool, because I land where my arm used to be, but it’s not there so it doesn’t hurt. And I’m thinking, yeah, man, this no arm thing is kinda chill."
Since we know that they have two unannounced projects at least, I dare say the mmo won't be diablo. So either Starcraft or something entirely new and diablo will be kept as a normal rpg.
To be honest I'd like the idea of a Starcraft mmofps
How do you know that there are two?

Apparently there are already a couple MMOFPS's, so there isnt a question about weither or not it would work.
You could obviously find certain guns and modifications that could match certain guns maybe.
I bet it would be based more on combat and skills then item finding and hunting.
I know its hard not to compare any MMO to WoW, but this could be drastically different.
