I was just curious if others here do any console gaming, and if so what system they current have, or plan on getting Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii?
I personally have a Wii for the hordes of kids that often visit my house, plus I enjoy playing a few of teh games once in awhile when I don't want to think too much. I am currently planning on getting another system and just recently decided on the PS3 for multiple reasons some including games, controls, familiarity since I also own a PS2.
Anyways if you do own any of the systems what are some games that you enjoy, or like playing? How about XBL or PSN games that are a must?
I wouldn't mind hearing what people have to say about either system as well but don't want this to be a 360 fanboy vs PS3 fanboy flame war.
Any other thoughts suggestions on Console gaming is welcomed as I didn't see another post.
A PS3 you mean? I bought it because the games coming out are all games I will enjoy. I bought it because the cell processors have been proven to work effectively, and once games are properly formatted to work with them, the cell processors will rule the market. (Supporting evidence: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/5322704.stm.)
Currently I only have the Orange Box because I had to quit my job due to my boss being unable to work with my summertime schedule, but I enjoy it all the same.
I also have a WII and a Xbox 360 in my household, but I usually only play them when my friends come over simply because I have no other games for my PS3 (and also because I only have one controller.)
The only next-gen system in this house is a Wii. My boyfriend and I bought it because it was cheaper than the other systems, and it was the only console that had any games we were interested in at the time. The only game we bought for it was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which is a ton of fun all on it's own, though we do rent other games from time to time.
We're looking at buying a PlayStation 3 next, since neither of us have much interest in an XBox 360 (neither of us like many of the games, and I'm wary of the console quality, given the recent technical issues). He'll want it for the new Metal Gear Solid, and I'll want it for Soul Calibur IV (among other games, but those are the two most-wanted right now).
I play a lot on our DS, though. I just got the re-remake of Final Fantasy IV today, and I'm enjoying the touch of nostalgia. The updates are fantastic so far, even though I've barely grazed the surface of the game (I'm only just now heading to Fabul).
i got a 360 way back when they were first released, and i must have been lucky cause so far ive only had to send it in once for repair! I really want a ps3 but it doesnt have enough exclusive titles that I personally want to play. And at first I thought wii looked really crappy, and i thought it was meant for people who don't play many games, but now that ssb, kart, mario galaxy, mario party, and a ton of fun looking games are available, I think this will be my next console if I get one.
i got an Xbox 360 and a Wii at home (as consoles for the TV) and a DS for portable fun.
the quality of Xbox 360 left me stunned. Both in graphics and in overall performance. The only downside of it in comparison with PS3 is the Blue-Ray. Considering that most games are made for Xbox first and then transfered to PS3 it explains the poor performance of the PS3 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 being the best example - GTA IV also looks and feels better on Xbox 360). Also Sony lost quite a few exclusive games too. FFXIII and SoulCalibur IV will come for the Xbox aswell...
Wii is far behind in graphics and far ahead in gameplay. I got Zelda, Harry Potter (that i didnt expect to be as fun as it is) and Mario Kart. All of them are pretty awesome. Waiting to see how Star Wars: Force Unleashed will be on it, but i'll most likely get it for Xbox too.
about MGS4 what i heared (since i dont own a PS3) is that its one of the best console games yet released. Too bad its only 720p tbh, such games should be admired in full HD.
I'd consider a PS3 as part of a home cinema system first (cause of its blue-ray) more than just a console. Blue-Ray technology isnt that well known to developers yet and its not being fully (or even partly) used for games.
I think i'll wait for some time before i get my PS3 (i'll get it too eventually). At least until its game quality gets better than that of Xbox 360.
i must admit i havent heared that before. I never really expected it to require around 50gb of space just for the 720p version...
it must indeed be one hell of a game.
I have a wii and a pc. I am considering selling my wii (as it is highly disappointing in the hardcore gaming department) and buying a 360. IMO the 360 has the BEST selection of games.
The only reason i am skeptical of getting a 360, is because i have a pc and they share a lot of the same games.
I have a Wii, and the Wii doesn't have many mature games out. They have RedSteel and Zelda and No More Heroes, but other then that it's a bit lacking, which is sad as it has great possibilities.
I will never own a Playstation. Period. Though, I am looking into getting one of the XBox Pro's. It's only 20 dollers more then the Arcade version and comes with a harddrive, unlike the Arcade version, though it's not as big as the Elite version. (Granted the elite version has 120 gigs, while the Pro version only has like 20 gigs, though that should be more then enough. And if it's not, I can always switch out for a 120 gig harddrive.)
I heard somewhere that Sony is looking into becoming a 3rd party game developer, leaving the console market to Nintendo and Microsoft, so buying a PS3 may be a risky move. But your money, not mine.
Oh, and don't sell your Wii, there will be some good games coming out, as they just developed some really good game engines that can run on the Wii. (As in, high quality good looking games, using the Wii. Which is good.)
I own a wii and a computer what more could i want.....
i agree the Wii does focus more around the family than that of Xbox 360 and PS3... i cant wait for some new games to come out for the wiii that will change it around... i mean come on Wii fitness... thats for all the lazy bums who cant excersise on there own and need video game guidance.... Super Smash Bros. Brawl is almost the only T-rated game and the game didnt keep me in like its older versions.... But with new sensor bar technology comes new possibilites so im betting a good load of money that there will better games coming out later....
I seriously doubt Sony gives up their market share of the PS2 and PS3 and stops making consoles. For one I would be very disappointed. I currently own a PS3 and was debating buying a 360 but the majority of my friends have a PS3 and the games I wanted to play were on the PS3, plus I have the background of the PS2 and didn't want to abandon my older game titles. Reliability was a slight issue although Microsoft as fixed the RRoD issue. Lastly price wasn't that much of an issue factoring in the Blu Ray player, built in wireless connection, wireless controllers and charging. Also if I am not mistaken I don't think you can switch out a 360 HD with a regular SATA drive like you can with a PS3.
On a different note I also own a Wii and have generally been dissappointed although its fun to play with friends/family that usually don't play games.
meh. i lovveeeddd all mgs games but...if they dont wana help me out and let me play the new one then fine let them be like that. i will be chillin on my couch scopin out da heads wit ma sniper on halo.

Well, I'm just saying what I heard. And considering they got whipped by the Xbox in the states and are now getting whipped by the 360 and the Wii at the same time, it really does make sense.
Plus, sony sucks. ;D

I went to GameOn and tried a few titles out, and I looked over and I saw 5 Halo games going on, and guess what? It was all 10ish year olds. I personally love how Halo captured the kiddie market. It's so cute. ^.^

I have a 80 GB PS3 and I'm currently waiting on Little Big Planet, Final Fantasyy 12/12: Versus, and Fallout 3.
