Edit: Crap, I didn't look hard enough. There are old (locked) Hellgate threads on the second/third page when using the search function, I should have clicked 'next page' lol. Delete this if you wish, I just wanted the opinion from people who are already fans of Diablo, but it will likely annoy everyone. Sorry, I don't think I can delete it myself...
Hellgate: London been mentioned a few times on the forums, but I didn't see any threads solely about it, so I made this one.
I need a videocard before I can actually play it, but that'll probably never happen so I was wondering what everyone thinks of Hellgate: London?
It seems to be the next best thing to a new Diablo sequal there is, based on its story and the fact that its from the creators of Diablo. But is it any good? The graphics seem... okay... and the classes and skills seem alright. I would definitely play as an Evoker, but I do kind of wish they had better skills (like some sort of telekinesis), but oh well, I'm not really gonna play the game anyway. And I love its cinematics. I think it'd be a great movie. I might buy the books... but then, I'd probably be tempted to buy a videocard so I can play the game, but that costs money and time.
I've played for a bit, and it gets very repetetive. The landscapes do not vary. It says a video card is recommended to have 768mb on it, but that's a lie. I run it at max resolution and settings with 25fps. I have a 256mb card.
Graphics are nice, not amazing.
Gameplay gets repetetive.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Some people claim that World of Warcraft is dull and repetitive. They don't know the meaning of the words until they have played Hellgate London. It really is an appalling game, it does have some strong points, but they are far outweighed by the bad.
WoW is repetitive, no doubt. But Hellgate... shit it's horrible.
The places you go never even look different.
Gameplay was fun but got too repetive... ugh gay.
It has (or had) potential.

Its funny how a game is all over-hyped and then when it comes out its horrible/considered horrible and drops of the face of the earth. Happened to Hellgate and it happened to Assassin's Creed as well just because IGN gave it a horrible, horrible review. Heres a link to it: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/834/834770p1.html

lol, oh okay. Repetitive aye? I suppose its like when someone says a movie is bad. You don't believe them/understand them how bad it is until you actually go see it. Because technically its got skills and randomisation and a story, but yeah you wouldn't know if it was repetitive until you try it. Or unless you just listen to other people when they say its bad lol. Okay, I believe you lol. I'm not gonna get it anyway though, as I already said.
It's funny how ever since I have ever heard of Hellgate I told everyone in sight that with that much hype it's going to suck ass, and no one believed me...

I argued it wouldn't be great just because it had remnants of the old Diablo 2 team and people said it was new diablo 3; however, it did seem to have potential in beta. But like most software companies they rushed it's release when they should have worked on it for another 4 months.
It may well be a good game eventually.

But yeah, how does it rate as a game?

I never played it since.
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.
