Has anyone ever read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams? It is probably the next book I will read but I don't know if I want to start it now or do something else in my free time and some reviews could sway me either way.
And if anybody is interested in knowing, after reading it I think A Clockwork Orange is a really good book.
My version of the book didn't have that glossary. For the first few chapters I was extremely confused but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. And I loved the story and we watched the first 50 minutes of the movie in my english class and it seemed to be pretty good... and funny in a disturbing way.
Nectar in a Sieve - Kamala Markandaya My Swordhand is Singing - Marcus Sedgwick Dreamseller - Brandon Novak
It's my third time reading Dreamseller and my first time reading the other two. Nectar is a pretty good book because of it's flow, but I really don't care for the setting or characters. Swordhand, as of late, has become one of my favorite books. Marcus has a way with atmosphere and suspense, even for a children's author (which I didn't find out until now, but he's more directed towards teenagers).
But yeah, Swordhand, apparently, has a sequal called The Kiss of Death which I would kill for a copy of. He also has a highly acclaimed book called The Foreshadowing.

Soul of the Fire, Terry Goodkind. I hated Wizard's First Rule until the very end, and Stone of Tears and Blood of the Fold were okay, but Soul of the Fire is kinda meh. Has some interesting ideas in it, though. Goodkind is kinda like a guy that looks at fantasy from a typically analytical sci-fi writer stance. It's kind of odd, but interesting. Usually meh though.
I remember reading Stone of Tears, but not if it was any good or not so I will have to agree with - meh.
I am finally starting book 3 of A Song of Ice and Fire quad by George R.R. Martin (I've read a few other books inbetween.) I really like the series so far. There are many surprises and main character deaths.

I hate to admit it, but I've somehow been sucked into reading cheesy old western novels.
Fucking Louis L'amore, him and his oddly captivating tales of the old west, I HATE HIM!!!

oh yeah... didnt even think about the book thread woops haha, oh well.
and i would read the prestige but i dont want to read the book since ive seen the movie, even if the book is better. plus, this is one time where the book might have a hard time beating the movie, but i dont know.

book is almost completely different than the movie; i saw the movie too, which was good, but i was pleasantly surprised at how much more it was. id say the movie captures about 10-15% of the book. really do read it if u liked the movie.
u could try the rawshark texts, if you liked the movie inception, this has a lot of similarities. and the whole plot duality is there as well. its kinda cheesy/boring sometimes though.

Great book, it is an account of the war in Iraq through the perspectives of different individuals who are in the Marine Corps. 100% recommended

but i recommend the prestige if you havent read it. its a teensy bit science fiction but the character dev is really good on it.
