I saw the movie a few days ago and I liked it. My back was killing me because I couldn't really find a comfortable sitting position during the movie though.
That is HILARIOUS! Well...that makes me feel really sad because of how close it is.

I had a lot of quotes here, but after reading the thread I don't remember why I was to quote them, so I'll just skip it.
Damn. Damn this was good. I enjoyed this movie so much, and left the theater with this wondrous feeling. Because this movie took me to another world and made me believe I was there.
Example. At first when he was to ride the "horse" the first time, and he takes up that hair thing and connects it, I was like "Woah, wait a second! How come both of those have the same tendrils and can connect to each other and read each other's minds? That doesn't make any sense." But after a little while, it didn't matter anymore. It just made sense.
Same goes for the plot, sort of. I mean, Transformers had kick-ass robots, but the movie is just riddled with comic and things that make it less "I'm there." and more "I'm watching someone who's there." Sure I knew what was going to happen in this movie. He would fall in love with the blue girl. Her betrothed would get pissed for him being an outsider and for taking her. Jake would tame the big-ass bird. Humans would be defeated. Jake would become an alien completely. But it didn't really matter. For the first time ever watching a movie, I really wanted a happy ending. I was sitting there hoping they would prevail, that he would prevail. Because that was how this story was to end. It was to be the classic tale of good and evil, where the hero meets his challenges head on and prevails.
Yes the story has been done so many times, but it has not been done to death. Avatar took the old concept, but conveyed it in a way that has never before been possible, and thus delivered a vision.
So yes, put me in category one please. That's where I prefer to be.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

I absolutely loved this movie. I could list reasons why, but everyone gets the idea. The movie is just downright beautiful. I watched the movie at an IMAX in 3d. I?m not sure if watching it without 3d would have changed my impression at all. It took me awhile to get use to some of the visual blurriness in the background using the glasses. I recommend anyone who hasn?t seen it, to see it. I feel a little femmy saying this, but Titanic is another one of my favorite movies.
Character development is my only criticism of the movie. There?s not a lot of transition from, ?Jake Sully, just doing his job?, to, ?Jake Sully, empathetic towards the Na?vi?. His personal conflict didn?t really portray on screen very well.
The criticism I don?t understand is the predictability of the plot. Any plot is fine if it?s executed well. How many times must Mario save the queen from Bowser before we get tired of the games? Never!
I just saw this in 3D and I honestly don't think it would of been anywhere near as insane without it. It still would of looked visually stunning but 3D is a entire different league. I nearly jizzed my pants
As for storyline. It was fairly simple, but simple doesn't mean shit. There's a difference.

And I wouldn't see that. Pirates has gotten a lot better after viewing it more times that I can remember. So has Terminator 2 (Cameron as well :D). Maybe Avatar as well?

Saw Avatar again yesterday. Still great, though obviously not the "Oooooh" the first view gave.
And to think, not once the entire first time I saw it did I notice they had four fingers. But after reading this thread, I checked it again. And what do you know, they did have only four fingers!
Same goes for the gas masks. I missed the first 5 minutes the first time, and I never caught on to why they had those masks on at all time. Only now did I realize the air was volatile to humans. Even in that last scene where Jake is almost killed in the machine, I figured he was just dying from smoke from a fire
And Neytiri is such a gold digger. She's all pissed off at Jake first. Then he comes back with a sweet-ass ride, and all is forgiven

And I guess that the big flying thingy is symbolic in some way. Didn't all previous riders used to be great leaders or something like that? So perhaps their tradition is that anyone that could mount it is automatically respected and becomes their leader. Probably some spiritual crap that only pure-hearted and great people can manage to do it. The same concept is used in many movies. Works fine imo
I was joking. I understood what hey meant in the movie. But it could be viewed in a different manner.

Someone on facebook mentioned how Avatar is just like Braveheart, only much worse. He said that everyone who paint their faces blue and white deserve to die..

I recommend that you watch the movie and get a personal opinion. You will probably end up in one of 3 groups.
1. I love it. It is amazing. I can easily forget about/ignore the worse parts.
2. It is ok. The story and lines makes it average. Doesn't really live up to the hype.
3. It sucks.
I'd say that the third group is pretty rare. The graphics alone is enough to raise it above the "suck" rank.
I'd say you're pretty far off on your categorizing there. I thought about elaborating on why I feel that, but there's too much wrong with those groups. It would seem awfully dramatic to write a page on it.
Who recommends a movie for the sake of getting an opinion? Wouldn't you be recommending the movie out of personal appeal?

It shares very little in common with Braveheart. You may need to rethink who you associate yourself with.
You know how everyone says the story is crap yeah? Well the way i see it, is he wrote it about 20 years ago which makes me forgive Cameron a little, because at that time such a story probably would have been sick
I sure am glad computer technology has gotten sophisticated enough that James Cameron could make his $230 million 3D IMAX movie about rejecting technology! I think I understand: technology bad, nature good!
Huh? No, we enslave them. Plug your ponytail into one to take control of it’s mind. Fuck you, blue pterodactyl!
“Unobtanium”? Really? May as well have just gone with “MacGuffinium”.
