Blah blah Metallica, this album just got owned by Trivium's 'Shogun'.
Lol
If it wasnt for Metallica, Trivum wouldnt exist. Metallica are their biggest influence, and Trivium are well known as the biggest wanna-be Metallica out there. Go figure.
I don't give a shit about what inspired bands. But I've listened to both albums and I believe Trivium's is waaay better, specifically the guitars. And it's not like I'm saying Death Magnetic is terrible, because it isn't, but I'm also not saying that Shogun is the shit. All I'm saying is that if you look at both albums seperatelly, for me, Shogun stands out more.
No, not really, I'm more into Psyopus, Beneath The Massacre, The Black Dahlia Murder, Psycroptic, Nile, Necrophagist, Morbid Angel, and War From A Harlot's Mouth when it comes to metal. Although, I don't mind DragonForce from time to time. But mainly just Technical or Melodic Death Metal for me.
Hah, I don't know, I just thought it was alright, definitely better then Death Magnetic to me. But neither of them are worthy of multiple listens, I'm just agitated at all the people like "zomgz, it's D34th m4gn3t1ic!!!11!!one!!1one!!"
Your entitled to your opinion and yours actually makes sense, but this line that you said stood out. With stupidity.
How can you not give a shit about who inspired bands when 90% of the time, influences not only have impact on the music, but the fact that the bands exist. If it werent for bands like Metallica, bands like Trivium would NOT exist, let alone have music that is as good as it is.

Death Magnetic is a pretty fucking solid album. It surpasses Kill'em All as an album. It sure brought them up from the shit pit they were in.
I don't have to like bands that inspired bands, but I can respect them for what they did. However, Death Magnetic is just boring to me, and it doesn't bring anything new to the metal genre.
What i like about death Magnetic though is that they didn't clutter it with "filler" songs. Although i doesn't have any totally stand-alone songs, it makes up for it by not having any songs i want to skip. When i listen to death Magnetic, i isten to it beginning to end, no track-skipping.
However, i don't understand why people keep talking about how it's better than their old stuff...the vocals are almost exactly like St. Anger's vocals. And although i personally liked St. Anger, most metallica "fans" hated it.
I like music from all points in the metal spectrum though. Anything from raw black metal (old Satyricon, Darkthrone, Emperor) to "nu" metal and hard rock (Korn, Slipknot, Godsmack) to the weird stuff (ever heard Crotchduster?)
