Blizzard North is no logner in Blizzard...

    -XxL2PxX, New Generation Forum-Basher

The Blizz North team divided itself in 3, some stayed in Blizzard, some founded Castaway (9 guys, now L5 Games), some founded Flagship (8 guys).

That's why saying that Flagship is Blizz North is completely wrong.
  • #222
Sorry I should've been more specific

The people who are in Blizzard North is no longer at Blizzard currently. Some were there for a while but up to date, no one from disbanded Blizzard North currently exists there

It is possible that some of the guys from flagship studios move over to work with D3, im sure the blizz team currently working with d3 wouldnt have anything against it.

Lol, I already stated why Flagship won't join Blizzard: If Flagship AKA most of former Blizzard North joins Blizzard, they will make Diablo 3 into their own version, which is why they were disbanded in the first place. Nothing wrong with this to the fans but probally it will effect most if not all of Blizzard's franchises in a negative way

Again, Flagship is not the most of Blizzard North.

And Blizzard had nothing to do with the closure of Blizzard North, it was Vivendi.

Don't know about you, but I consider above 40% of Blizzard North employees as one organization as most. The other percentage is divided

If Flagship got 8 and Castaway got 9 (4 more joined later), how can Flaghship be the most?

when Blizz North was closed, they had a hard time to reinvent a "diablo clone", without copying too much from d1-d2, cuz they aren´t allowed to copy diablo(copyright).... it was clear for me that hellgate:london wouldn´t be a top-game, why? they just didn´t have enough budget and time to make a "big game". and even with enough money, the foundation of Hellgate isn´t as strong as the diablo´s.. diablo 3 has popular prequels the story from d1-d2 makes a strong foundation for d3 I feel very sorry for the creators of d1 and d2, they created uber games....RESPECT playing d2 was the funniest time in my life(played for 2years(played euro-pvp etc.)), yeah it was part of my life, and it was really exciting....(okay my girl-friend was in 1st month more exciting xD) why did I stop to play diablo2:lod ? cheater-(trade-)hacker.... friend stole my stuff.... yeah that was hard I hope it will be like in WoW......(in aspect of cheater) farewell Blizz North, u did a good job.

Uh, they had the EA's money. The game was simply rushed and they tried to milk their "sucess" on Diablo instead of making a good game.

EA is pratically the Anti-Christ of the gaming industry....the games will be garunteed to be on teh shelves, but will insue total chaos. Plus I really doubt Flagship would want to make a second 'Hellfire'

EA did force them to release early, also the biggest flaw in HGL was forced private instances, I didn't like that at all because I never saw anyone unless it was in-town. I pretty much solo'd to max level.

    the game wasn't rushed.
they had more than enough time to make the game good.
they just didn't spend that time well.

as i posted before FSS with HGL had the longest development time and resources of any indie titie released last year.

CD Projekt Red Studio had much much less and they made a AAA game in The Witcher

Meh, didn't like the company anyways. Always trying to copy Diablo... Why couldn't they just come up with there own game ideas? Lazy? Quick buck? Well I bet they learned there lesson. Diablo 3 developement started before Hellgate: London ever existed. Yet hellgate:london was released a year ago. And Diablo 3 is still in developement. You can tell just by that they didnt put any thought into it. They just took abunch of Diablo stuff and tried to rehash it. Put it together and threw it out there.

Mythos is the same way but a lil more closer to the Diablo world and well even a lil funner. But yet again same thing as hellgate:london.

UM wtf??? lol, copy diabloe make there own idea for a game?, you fool they made Diablo and Diablo 2. they had a good idea for a game just buggered it up by trying to make it different from wows style of MMO.

Now that this has happened heres my idea, Blizzard rehire Bill Rouper and get him to fix what needs to be fixed in D3 :P gore gore and more gore that stays on the floor and doesnt vanish and fix the lighting effects, come on blizzard DO IT.

Also isnt it true that activison own blizzard now?, from my memory they make childish dumb down games under the age of 15 rating SIGH SIGH SIGH.??

There are many things wrong there... But I am too tired to actually point them out now. Nice try though :)

Rushing a game is not about time spent on development, it's about sending it out incomplete.

No, it's not. Vivendi Games (now called Activision Blizzard) owns both Activision and Blizzard. Activision and Blizzard are independent companies inside the Activision Blizzard group.

And, PLEASE, stay Bill Roper away from Blizzard as far as you can. If Hellgate: London shown us one thing was how bad Bill Roper as a Leading Producer. Time just made Vivendi right of not want Bill Roper walking around with much management power on Blizz.

No, sorry, I'm not saying that the entire article is false. I'm just saying he's a liar. I'm just much more inclined to believe one of the developers themselves. The man he's referring to have said none of the things he says he said in the article.

You are incorrect. Mr. Balbi had misinterpreted what Andrew said. Andrew said he heard from a source. Balbi thought Andrew was claiming to have had the conversation with Balbi himself. So he denied ever having a conversation with Andrew. Balbi never denied anything else but that.

I'm very sure Flagship is dead and gone. Otherwise they would've made an official statement saying that people are insane.

I think that's a logical conclusion. I think they're holding back on making any official statements until everything has been decided.

Yeah, so true. I feel that BlizzNorth would've done a much better job at preserving the flavour of the universe, since they were pretty much around from scratch. Just the fact that they wanted to make all-new classes instead of rehashing the old ones is good in my book.

I know that some like it, but I just can't swallow the sheer retardation of the 20-year-older Barbarian coming back with a beard, an axe, and 20 years of mental degeneration.
Haven't you ever heard the expression "Ignorance is Blizz"?

I think the barbarian was one of the least interesting of characters in the previous games. I would have liked to see the return of the Paladin, moreso than the Barbarian. That's just me though. I guess everyone has their own preference. I don't think that the old blizznorth would have "preserved the flavour" anymore than the current blizz employees.

    U AREZ like totalli stupid.

I'm not in the least bit disappointed in the position flagship is in. They produced a lousy glitch infested game with very little creativity. They have finally reaped what they sowed.

San Francisco, CA (July 14, 2008) -- Flagship Studios has announced today that despite rumors to the contrary, the company is still operating.

“It is with deep regret that I must announce that Flagship Studios has laid off most employees. However, the core management and founding team members are still at Flagship.” said Bill Roper, CEO of Flagship Studios. “The past five years have been an incredible experience for us, but unfortunately, we couldn’t sustain the size of the company any longer.”

Flagship Studios owns the rights to all its technology and IP, including Hellgate: London and Mythos. Due to the current situation, Flagship will not be taking any new subscribers for Hellgate: London, and all current subscriptions will not be billed.

Flagship wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to those that have supported the company and games over the past five years.

I'm a bit sad Mythos won't be continuing development anytime soon, if ever.

Yeah I noticed that too. I kept trying to find the thread in the General Discussion or Other Games. I ended up searching for it.
