Diablo 3: My little Pony

  • #1
I thought I recognized Diablo 3's color scheme from some of my kids' favorite TV shows. When I gave it a closer look, I realized that Diablo 3 looks more like My Little Pony than it does like Diablo 2.

(Diablo 3, My Little Pony, and Diablo 2 respectively)

(Diablo 3, My Little Pony, and Diablo 2 respectively)

In all fairness, I shouldn't be comparing a hit video game with a kids show so I compared its color scheme to some "top selling," "highly rated," video games.

(Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue, Diablo 3 respectively)

(Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Diablo 3 respectively)

(Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure, Diablo 3 respectively)

I am glad to see Blizzard putting one of their top franchises into the yet untapped Daddy-Daughter market by having a color scheme that the kiddies enjoy.

    But in all seriousness...

Things that we should not be afraid of (e.g. things that should not be in Diablo 3):
    -Ponies
    -Barbies
    -Garfield
    -Legos
    -Saturated Colors

Realistic, Dark, and Gothic is Diablo's Style.
Please fix the color scheme so I can play Diablo 3 instead of My Little Pony in Hell.

    Way to try too hard.

Diablo II is starting to look more and more like it is the one that has an absence of color. I still feel Diablo III appears a bit to 'washed out,' which has nothing to do with the lore, it just seems like the contrast/gamma is kind of high. Not a big deal though, I think they did an amazing job more and more each time I watch it!

hehe the first thing a had a closer look to the screens was : OMG pwnies !!

(But none off these things will hold me down from buying D3)

OP, You really are funny, but also pathetic, do you realise that Diablo 3 demo takes place in a forest during autumn, hope the heck do you expect a forest in mid-day to look like, you guys are really weirdos, specially with your ponie complex.

    Claim

They say Diablo 3 is cartoony and colorful

    Validtiy:
nonsense, if Diablo 3 is cartoony then real life is loony toons, Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 were more much more colorful and cartoony than Diablo 3, which is 40 times more realistic than both of them.

    Proofs:

-NATURE is VIVID and COLORFUL and that DOESN'T MAKE IT CARTOONY

    IF THIS IS CARTOONY

THEN THIS IS A PIC FROM LOONY TOONS

-RAINBOWS are a freaking NATURAL phenomena, it has nothing to do with your freaking PONIES

Let's play find the ponie, what ?, there ain't any, OMG !!!!!

-Diablo 2 and Diablo 1 were very colorful and very cartoony ( STATED BY DIABLO DEV TEAM )

    DIABLO 2 DISCO TIME

Still wonder which one is cartoony colorful and bright and which one is realistic, then maybe you should you go check your eyes at the nearest doctor.

Also D2 had normal daytime and VERY BRIGHT environments

IT WAS NOT ALL GLOOOMY AND DARK, you don't know what you are talking about and make yourselves look like 15 years old emo-Gothic girls how want every thing black and blotted with blood and gore, GET A LIFE.

I think the main difference though is in contrast...
The D2 shots you showed may be generally very bright but have stark contrast with the shadows.

I guess the one guy was right when you should fuck with humor about D3 lol. Points to Hunter-Wolf. I loled in rl. GJ with the post. Reminds me of my little pony, apocolypse pony... :P

I agree on you that not everything was dark and gloomy. But i don't like the way the colors look like now. In Diablo 2 you had some more realistic details and now it's plain. just one color, no effect.

But one thing I really don't like is the armor. That is to oversized. When they will fix the armor and make it all normal than it looks great, even when they don't change the colors.

"Also D2 had normal daytime and VERY BRIGHT environments"

-I never said Diablo 3 was too bright. It's too saturated, with greens and blues especially. Also, I believe those screens you took of Diablo 2 had both gamma and contrast at maximum. :-)

"Diablo 2 and Diablo 1 were very colorful and very cartoony ( STATED BY DIABLO DEV TEAM )"

-Over half the original Diablo 2 development team quit years ago when they collapsed Blizzard North. The "Diablo Dev Team" you speak of are actually the same guys who made WC3 and WOW, not the original development team. I'm sure the guys who left Blizzard would disagree and maybe this move towards stylization by Blizzard is the reason they quit (just speculation of course).

-Those screens you took of Diablo 2 were selectively chosen because they were the brightest, most colorful scenes you could possibly find in Diablo 2. The sad part is, none of those are even close to the level of blue and green seen in either of the two areas witnessed in the Diablo 3 trailer.

-The screens of Diablo 2 I took were the two scenes in the game I could find that were closest to the screens from Diablo 3. Please, if you can find any screenshots that look more similar to Diablo 3 than my little pony, post them.

    Thanks. :)

Indeed. The only colorful things in Diablo were the enemy's you did a cast something on. For example Green for Poison and Blue for Ice. So that's normal. But the colors in the game now are light happy colors. In Diablo 2 there were just "normal" colors. Yellow/red for lava as in one of the pictures. and normal sand brown for desert with sunshine. It was colorful, but not happy colorful :)

So, are you saying that Diablo III is like barbie and garfield and that?? BLASPHEMY!!

Ok man, Blizzard is the owner of Diablo franchise, so if they wanna fuck the diablo series with ponies and teddy bears, THEY CAN. If you dont like Diablo III, simply dont buy it, you have NO rights on this... there is not like a democracy or something like that. They develop games, you buy it if you agree. Even a retard can understand it.
I like Diablo III colour and all that the stuff they showed by the moment.
