There actually seems to be two more splash images left... considering there are still two more "hidden" images left to reveal... so tomorrow might not reveal as much as people are hoping.
Has anyone suspected that it's the swirling globe from the Arcane area in Act 2? (not sure if thats the name its been a while). The place in outer space by the boss there. Maybe he'll be involved in linking the 3 games in the storyline or something?
Ok, I know this is my first post, but please reason with me. I believe myself to be somewhat experienced at Diablo and forum etiquette.
First of all, I really do not believe the ice is melting. As you can see from the progression .gif posted earlier, the view seems to either zoom in on the center (as if the viewpoint was from something escaping the ice cavern place through the roof into the world) or the view shows the ice being "pushed away" from something above (thus the appearance of eyes being at the center as our view gets clearer with less and less ice and steam in the way).
Now, I obviously know that these theories have probably been at least hinted to before, but I also offer an explanation to those of you who think the steam is from the ice melting. Let me start with a real life situation. Have you ever opened the door of a large freezer? I used to work in the fast food business, and everyone knows they operate very large 0 degree freezers. As soon as you open the door to these freezers, even though the ice within the freezer does not melt, the difference in temperature between the air inside the freezer and the air outside the freezer causes all sorts of "steam."
And so, what can we conclude from this? Probably nothing 100%, but I am fairly certain the steam is not from the ice melting. I personally conclude that the steam is there because the ice formed in a place usually not meant to have ice, but within this ice structure, the temperature is maintained permanently cold (as if through magic or some kind of unnatural force). Since the ice is being pushed away to reveal the outside world, the difference in temperature creates this "steam."
Hope I helped!
TL : DR - the ice isn't melting, the steam is from difference in temperature.
So the teaser wont reveal anything. We have to wait for the anoucement and not for an another picture.
Yea, but a little bit of the guessing game is what Blizzard is trying make us do...even though it's killing some of us. I think that answers your questions.
Please tell me your opinion on the steam/smoke if the ice is not melting. And we're calling it the Deckard Cain face now? last time I checked we were calling it Baal.
I dont think the Ice is melting either, since the ice shards are not melting and dripping with water.
The vapour/steam can be caused by warm air contacting with cold damp air maybe?
but then, I guess all this is up to the interpretation the artist had for the direction he/she was given?

Edit: lol, am too slow. read posts above.
Yea I think this could be right as well, like when its cold outside and you can see your breath.
The user who said that Baal is frozen in ice and Diablo is standing before him in a blizzard could very well be right.
(but then again any of these other half assed theories could be right)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My goodness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I trust…
From the view, it looks like something is looking up from underground and the ice is breaking apart to reveal a starlit night sky. It's either stars I'm seeing or just pieces of the ice.
ya with today's splash. all i can say is. ......i have no idea what this is. lol. maybe diablo eyes. and i thought that from the sin wars where other voices come from different worlds. i thought that the symbol could possablly be that. but now i just have no clue.it should be diablo. if its lost vikings i wold like to see what that is like. but if its a warcraft or starcraft title they announce and there is no diablo anything. then im going to be pissed.
i saw on another forum, didnt find here so i posted

Juners ...
I really wish my I still had my old account. I registered it in late 06, but I forgot the password and had to make a new one.
CyberPunk RP Nexus
The temperature differance is brilliant, you can see the same thing when you pull open your freezer door real quick, vapor rolls out.
