Does anyone else notice that there is an openning to the lower left of the circles that points directly at the opening in the little symbol beside it.
Also, there is a kind of J shape in the picture of the sword that fits almost perfectly together with the symbol.
Not sure what it means, just stating an observation.
Guys, look at the picture for a second. The rune itself isnt changing at all, its the ice effect over it. Take a good look at the 2nd day of the Hel rune, the ice effects are different but it just happened to not line up with the etching of the rune as the frostmourne one did. The rune hasnt changed at all, just the ice.
Indeed. The symbol went from Frostmourne to kind of a deformed Frostmourne to something entirely different. Not quite shael, not quite Frostmourne rune. We need to decode it and figure out what it means. Also, if you look, this probably has to do with the ice melting, the "bubbles" or circles around the circle disappeared and the circles mended themselves... odd.
I see the change. It looks different, that's just my belief. Whether its' the ice melting or a clue.

Can we also state as fact that unless a symbol is Perfectly replicated within the Splash that is not that symbol. For instance people trying to rotate the Nef rune to original fit the Frostmourne symbol. Unless it is a perfect replication there is no need to speculate.
i got a new theory.
All the runes look like one rune for every universe and slowly change all to Diablo runes in the end on day five and everybody here is happy to see D3.
Well, higly unlikely, but an idea anyway.
thats what i instantly thought when i saw the new splash however, there is already a Diablo Rune there.
My Theory is this: Leading up to the final splash page, the runes will keep transforming into something grand (possibly a title/ eteched image) that will eventual unveil the game.
Im hoping its Diablo III, but it could be an entirely new Franchise/IP as well.
its funny. after about 30 minutes of being able to focus on nothing else, i get completely bored with the latest splash and think, hmm, ill just wait for saturday... but i know that tomorrow night im going to be slamming the mouse of refresh over and over to see the latest...
ON TOPIC for a change, I havent seen much discussed about the very bright shapes above the opening. the only blizz-related things that come to mind are tyreals wings and kerrigans claws. discuss.
Dude are you mentally slow? NO one is saying that that individual portion changed or was erased and replace. (since the beginning you mentioned it I was convinced that original symbol was replicating/representing Frostmournes Rune)
But now It has connected to another piece, emerging as an entirely different symbol.
It connected so perfectly and fluidly (as you can see in your GIF) that im 100% sure it is not coincidence.
I will be amazed when all 3 runes (possibly more being introduced, doubtful though) keep connecting to pieces to eventually unveil the game via an Eteched/Line Picture or Eteched/Line Title.
your GIF file is proof that the basic symbol was not removed. but i didnt say that, i said it transformed by connecting to a piece that was original broken off to the left of it.
GOD com`on guys its NOT WOW ! They alredy annoced the new crapy addon.

Blizzard Splash Page Teaser
The official Blizzard Entertainment website has been updated with a new splash page teaser, presumably generating some hype for their planned game announcement on the 19th. The image features art from WarCraft 1 & 2, a timeline of all their other games and a question mark. Interesting to note, the image is labeled day1.jpg, so we could see a countdown of these teasers images. Let the speculation begin!
May 14th Update: As expected, Blizzard has posted a new splash page image. day2.jpg features the same timeline, but with Diablo artwork.
May 15th Update: Another day, another splash page. Today we see StarCraft (1998) artwork labeled day3.jpg.
May 16th Update: day4.jpg is up and features Diablo 2 (2000) artwork.
May 17th Update: day5.jpg sports some WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002) artwork.
May 18th Update: Almost there! day6.jpg is up and features World of WarCraft (2004) artwork.
On day to day showed a Picture relating on Starcraft. This year secound day a Diablo II Picture...
Is there Still hope ?
you sir, are a moron. please look at a calendar. that was news from last year just previous to the SC2 announcement. if you are using that as a method of saying that no matter what hints blizzard throws at us, any announcement is possible, then you're preaching to the choir.
Day1 - Lots of cracks and scratches behind the rune and up to the right
Day2 - Scratches seem to fade slightly
Day3 - The ice behind has become a lot more smooth, removal of the scratches and a crack (or big scratch) has formed on the left peak of the rune
they'll see in the end vultuk. thanks for the helpful gifs in the meantime
anyways vultuk, the point im making is that is just a prominent line to begin with. it is as visible and detectable as the "CORE" runemark of Frostmourne.
you are telling me that upside down J made a perfect (and I mean perfect, look at your GIF again) connection randomly onto the rune?
this isnt real ice my friend, this is Artwork. Artwork on a Teaser made to entice an inevitable announcement, NOTHING is COINCIDECE
Did anyone notice the reddish shapes that appear to be UNDER the ice? I removed the blue color in PS so that you can easily notice it:
And if you apply this effect to the entire Day 1 picture, and copy paste the highlighted selection from this pic, you will notice that the ice itself is changing drastically, but the red shapes remain the same! This means that there's a layer underneath the ice, with a purposeful configuration, but we can't really see it. Though I think I can see a hand.

I know the pieces fit.
SCHISM YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS QUICKER THAN ME
The frostmourne rune has definately been altered to an M type of shape. There is no denying. And if the ice was affecting this, how come the hel rune is perfectly normal.

Does anyone recognize it?
This is priority 1, along with the 3 different symbols stemming off the sides of each rune themselves.
i like the latin/greek symbol theory. any more information on that?

Diablo himself is probably the least scary thing in the games, hehe.
Unless you mean the game as a whole.
Diablo 1 scared the pants off me, but then I was very young.

So theres only two options left now:
a) Diablo 3
New IP
