Well I meant it's not addictive in a certain sense, such as nicotine. People smoke because it feels good not because they have to, it's more like a habit, like people who work out a lot or play video games every day.

lol yeah, same thing as being addictive. If it wasn't addictive they wouldn't want to smoke/play video games/work out all the time.
"OOhhhh thats good! I want some more!"
But yeah, I know, everything has different levels of addictiveness. Nicotine is definitely the worst.
Well thanks as I'm a pretty heavy smoker (IMHO). It actually kind of scares me at the fact that I never even dreamed that I would ever touch a cig or any other drug.
The thing is when you are addicted. You say okay this is my last cig, and only about more then an hour passes and your like shit okay well this is my last one. And it goes on and on and on. I think the longest I've ever quit was about a week but thats because I was in a cell.
Oh well before I hurl over and die. Maybe they will have a cure for lung cancer.

second hand smoking? peer pressure? children who idolize you? cancer? family grievance? loss of air? children with asthma?
I had to work in a tiny 10 foot cubicle awhile back while my boss 5 feet away puffed a cigarette every 15 minutes. I could feel that crap saturating my lungs. I don't work there anymore.
Materials like nicotine make your body addicted not your brain. But still, almost all smokers cant stop b/c they are psychologically addicted.
At least thats what i heard.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
its not like somone else smoking really effects you. its their decision so it whatever
Yeah, this pesky asthma I was born with sucks. I should have known not to light up in the womb.
Or my aunt blowing smoke in my face when I was younger. I should have been wearing a surgical mask 24/7. Silly me.
And then there's my old friend who drove us into the middle of woods, got out his weed, and lit up. I should have just walked home, even though I had no idea where we were (and that home was over 50 miles away).
Yes, smoking is an individual decision. If you want to smoke, go ahead and smoke, but please don't say it doesn't affect anyone else.

Hmm, well on 4/20, I drank, smoked cigarettes, smoked weed, and ate "special" brownies.
Ahhh, I had a good night. Well, weekend for that matter, since I partied from Thursday through Sunday.
I'm surprised their are so many people on here that don't drink/smoke.
Cigarettes, well I smoke about 4 a day, but I roll my own with Bali Shag tobacco, so I don't have to worry about rat poison, and pesticides and all the really nasty shit in there. Just nicotine.:D
Alcohol, well I'm 22, and I never drink to get drunk anymore, just get a good buzz going. And that is how I get stoned too. I smoke maybe 1-2 spliffs with my girlfriend and one or two of my good friends, and we feel good. Not blazed out of our fucking minds, just good and happy.
Weed is very addicting. But I have a strong control of my mind and body. I smoke very randomly, and usually no more than twice a week. As for being addicted to these things, I'm not. I can, and have quit doing these things for years at a time. And the way I quit is I just drop it suddenly one day. I just say to myself I'm done for 6 months, and I don't smoke/drink anymore for 6 months. Although, nobody I know can quit like I can.
second hand smoking- no longer allowed to smoke in public places anymore
peer pressure- what? peer pressure is non existant except for the weak and who really cares what the weak does?
children who idolize you- if they were educated enough, they wouldent look up to somone who smokes

family grievance- then can make a person stop smoking if they were really dedicated
loss of air- what?
children with asthma- see "second hand smoking"

Second Hand Smoking - At home? In the car? Entrance of a building? Bars? Casinos?
Peer Pressure - Considering this thread is full of kids pressured into it, yes peer pressured. I'd say that counts for alot of members.
Family Grievance - You must have some very persuasive family members.
Point is. Alot of people don't smoke responsibly. They don't go hide in a corner and smoke into a vacuum. I'm very vulnerable to cigarette smoke. I can't breathe very well if I inhale it. My dad smoked around my brother since he was young, now my brother can't stop puffing a pack a day. So to hear something silly as "it's their own choice, it doesn't affect anyone", is a bit narrowminded.
@requiem- just dont go with them in the first place...
That's easy to say now, and if I had known that's what was going to happen, I wouldn't have gone with him. The problem was that I didn't know. We drove off and did stuff like that together all the time, so being where we were wasn't unusual (maybe a little weird, but not unusual).
But what about my mother? She smoked up until she found out she was pregnant, but it was too late. I was born with breathing troubles, and she blames herself for it. Was it genetic? Probably. Did her smoking contribute to it? Who knows?
Look, I respect your decision to smoke, just as I'm sure you respect my decision not to. I'm not trying to lecture you here; all I'm saying is that smoking does affect other people in one way or another, be it major or minor.
