I just noticed that most of the threads were not interesting to me lately so I figured I would see how much flaming I could get from posting a NASCAR related thread.
I like NASCAR and will be personally attending one of the events in April. I support Dale Earnhardt Jr. I've watched stock car racing since I was a child and my father, uncles and grandfather used to race cars at local dirt tracks.
Any other NASCAR fans on the forum? ::puts on flame retardent suit::

I concur, NASCAR is just way too boring for me... Like baseball, I can only watch like basketball and motorx... And, I hate earnhardt jr... I loved earnhardt... But I think jr sucks...
I know, I could never get into any kind of racing at all. Well for that matter, I can't really manage to watch any sport on tv thats not named Basketball, Poker or baseball. The latter is one I VERY SELDOM watch.
"Oh my goodness! Did you see that? He just took a left turn! Oh oh oh! He turned left again! Its amazing folks, I have seen this guy take millions of left turns in my lifetime, and it never gets old!"
Sorry for any disrespect, I just can't see how one can watch it. Then again, I guess y'all could make the same comment on basketball. =/

I don't take any offense to people's opinions of NASCAR. You are right for some people cars driving in circles is hardly entertaining. This is how I view basketball though, 10 men or women running back and forth and back and forth to put a ball in a hoop. Every now and then one of them runs another person over and gets fouled.
So I take no offense to people's views over the sports that I enjoy. As far as calling NASCAR a sport that would depend on how you interperet the definition of sport and/or athletics. By definition sport means pertaining to athletics requiring skill or physical prowess normally in a competition. Athletic means the use of physical skills or capabilities. The driving of those cars 500 miles at the speeds they are driving is physically tiring and requires great stamina. So it's all up to your interpretation.

Dying and injuries were not included in sports. Improving your body was. Business turned it into entertainment, and nothing is more entertaining to the public than injury. Pitiful. They destroyed the very idea of sports.
This is not true. No one wants to see any player of their favorite team or their favorite driver hurt. For the most part I don't know a NASCAR fan that wants to see anyone injured. They may get excited when there is a car crash but no one wants to see someone injured.
And most sporting type activities were not used to improve your body but to prove that your body was more capable of completing a task than someone else's, or just to prove that your body could complete the task. You had to have your body ready for the activity prior to participating if you intended to do well.

LOL Wow. To dislike someone because of their interest in a particular sport. That is something I don't hear a lot of. Thanks I learned something new today. You can be disliked because of the sport you enjoy.

Rubbish. If someone on a soccer team just wants to kick you off the field they can do somethign that has NOTHING to do with playing soccer, and how does that prove that your body can play soccer if your body got heavily injured by someone who's less skilled in soccer but has a bigger body so he was able to injure you... please don't give me that bullcrap.
Sporst were born in Greece and they were made to stimulate the youth to improve themselves physically. Not to destroy the youth, that doesn't help ANYBODY. Except businesses nowdays. And the public doesn't want to see injuries? "I don't like college football, too few injuries" (c) Stonebreaker
Or take the Colliseum. Perfect example of what the general public REALLY wants.
True sports are for yourself. Not for someone to watch. Not to place yourself over someone. But to improve yourself, and to prove to yourself, what you can do. Trying to be better than someone else is just plain pride, because you are probably better only because you are a bit luckier genetically than the other person.

I agree it's kinda boring. It's probably fun for the participants, tho. That's how most sports are for me. Or competitions, for that matter.
