I don't think I would want to have sex with a robot, because it is inhumane. It would be weird unless they could talk like a regular person. You know that they can have a decent conversation with you or something. They would be better at everything than you. Like if you wanted to play video games with the robot, it could just uplink to the game. Unless it could not do that, but we would not have competition if robots existed now.

A robot could only be as faultless as the creator. If that does not hold true, then we will see organic humans inferior to our own creations.
Yup. Basically, a human brain is nothing but a set of physical objects interacting with each other. And those physical objects can be recreated in a computer, but more efficiently, and in larger numbers. Thus creating smarter intelligences.

And even if it would be inevitable, I foresee some other problems with this. It is kind of scary how many movies have already touched a bordering subject like this. Anything from robots to cloning...
Yeah. But they all deal with cataclysmic scenarios, since nothing else will sell.

You're assuming it will function like your desktop computer does right now, only better. That I can almost assure you will not be the case. In order to effectively simulate intelligence on a human level, we will need vastly different software and hardware design. Thus the robot will gain our abilities, but lose others. Such as the ability to do an extreme amount of conscious calculations.
This is spculation on my behalf, it should be possible to have both in a machine.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Ghost in the Shell doesn't really go into the big hollywood blockbuster scenarios, but it does have machines having errors and shutting down or killing people, It's actually a pretty cool portrayal of a future where the lines between Human and Machine is virtually non existant.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

That would be very akward. Having a son that is half robot. That would be kind of scary.
Nope.
Its DNA would be built on only yours, I think. But the lack of other DNA would result in poor formations of the body/immune system, which is why the Egyptians were so vulnerable to disease.

Unless your DNA was mixed with another human, just like usual. Which you always have to do unless you want to end up with a clone.

3 movies, and a two season anime series. Pretty good, lots of philosophical stuff too.

Actually I wouldnt really say that they are non-exsistant. Like when the Major has the Tachcoma's not go on anymore missions because the Tachcoma's are thinking about life and death and what-not.
Still, I'd have to agree, the Ghost in the Shell series is what I too believe the future to hold. Perhaps not the imidiate future, but 50 to 100 years? Sure.
Why is it as technology improves we always seem to pervert it?
Ever heard of Freud? His theory was that all actions people make are based on sexual feelings. And why did people jump on him and try to prove him wrong without ever thinking about the issue...

GITS is set in 2029-2033. And yeh it's a pretty good interpretation of the future, I want a Cyberbrain

I've heard of him, but I'm not overly familiar with his works apart from something about every guy apparantly wanting to bang his mom.

Then you run into problems like Cyberbrain Schlorosus. (Not sure how you spell that...) Guess you have to choose whether you want to take your chances with tumors or Cyberbrain Schlorosus, eh? Lol.
As for the date, with things like that, I can't really see it happening in 2029-2033. It may work fine with cartoons but real life, I can't see that, not that soon. Thats 21 years from now. x.x

Well, there is a lot more things to it than his mom, I personally weren't too interested in THAT part. And I expect the same of you.

Freud would of loved a sexbot... shaped in the image of his own mother
Well, if he writes studies about all people, that means he also writes studies about himself, which is fine for him because he believes in what he writes about.

The thing I don't get, is that I thought this was supposed to be a website about a game. (Don't want to start a fight) Some of you guys might think this is a good topic, but when this happens I would have already found someone and probably be dead or about to die.

So? You don't have to be close to achieving something to take notice of it. We may not live to see machines as intelligent as humans (though I think we will) but that doesn't stop us from exploring it and researching it. heck, if no one planned beyond their death, we'd have had much less technological advancements by now.
Also, if by that time you've found someone and are close to dying, chances are you have kids or even grandkids. Maybe you should consider their future as well?

An international research team from University College London's Centre for Nanotechnology has developed a ceramic material that could result in fundamental changes to technology. The material can be used in the creation of self-assembled circuit boards with various layers being insulated from each other by just a few atoms dramatically reducing processor size requirements. See, I would teach them not to love robots though, because if I did live to see robots, I would want them to have an actual human being as there partner, not a machine that was programmed to feel human emotions. I would like if robots would clean for us and do many other things to help out humans. Like if you saw I Robot. That they obey us and do the household chores, but not to have sex with. That would be just wrong.

If Moore's law is correct (says that technological growth will double every 18 months) I would not be suprised to see a fully functioning AI within a decade.
