The name says it all. So I'll start off by stating my position.
I do not, nor have I ever supported the Iraq War. my only hope is that Congress gets a large enough to override Bush's future veto of the bill setting a timetable for withdrawal and giving more funds to Bush for the war. The bill passed by such a narrow margin, I don't think it may happen, though. But his veto may give him a political black eye.
I have always been a supporter of the iraq war and of our troops there. i disapprove of Congress doing this, and approve of Bush. i want more funds to go to the war, and more troop movement into, not out.
there are many reasons why i support this that too many dont. its because it isnt just about winning now. if we leave because of the terrorist and dying troops, what is there sacrifice for, or the sacrifices of those who died before? i am a strong beleiver that these terrorists are like the guerillas of vietnam. they are masters of propaganda. but this time we have many more reporters and people who enjoy distributing partial stories, who enjoy not telling all of the truth. if we pull out, the terrorists won, a vietnam all over again. and all those who lived there that supported us would be slaughtered just as the north upon the south vietnams.
too many are anti-war here in this world of ours. not liking war and not wanting to do it is one thing that is both honorable and justifiable. but simply giving up or avoiding war at all costs is another thing. the example i am refering to is france during WWII. they simply dropped their weapons and bent over for hitler. in a way, we would be doing the same for the terrorists. not to mention they would bring the fight to american soil.
but maybe your right. maybe we should bring our troops back, and allow terrorists to blow up sections of cities or something so that people would wake up again, and stare wide-eyed at the horrid consequences of their actions of not acting, or refusing to act. like that tuesday morning in september 6 years ago.
Dude, I'm with you all the way, muttonchops. I have never been a big supporter of Bush and his actions. Heck, he expects to believe that a man in a cave in a foreign country orchestrated the worst terrorist attack of all time? Not happening. Bush is just a war-hungry oil-craving mongrel.
This is completely off-topic, but funny all the same. I asked this lady at lunch today in school if she liked Dick Cheney. She said no, so I responded (I would've said it even if she said yes, for this was planned): "Oh my gosh! I absolutely LOVE DICK!"
if we leave because of the terrorist and dying troops, what is there sacrifice for, or the sacrifices of those who died before?
But isn't it more important to take heed to the living rather than the dead? Pulling out will undoubtedly save more soldiers lives than staying would. If I could pick whether to save people that still live, or avenge the dead, I will pick the latter.
i am a strong beleiver that these terrorists are like the guerillas of vietnam. they are masters of propaganda. but this time we have many more reporters and people who enjoy distributing partial stories, who enjoy not telling all of the truth. if we pull out, the terrorists won, a vietnam all over again. and all those who lived there that supported us would be slaughtered just as the north upon the south vietnams.
No matter what happens, reporters will always tell you as bad news as possible, because it is a psychological phenomenon. Bad news sell better than good news.
Will there however be turmoil if the US pulls out? I would say so. But right now there is a lot of turmoil too.
too many are anti-war here in this world of ours. not liking war and not wanting to do it is one thing that is both honorable and justifiable.
We could go on and argue whether shooting people, bombing them, blowing them up, destroying their country and making their children fatherless is honorable and justifiable or not, but we should keep this as a solid discussion regarding the pull-out and it's effects if it happens.
but simply giving up or avoiding war at all costs is another thing. the example i am refering to is france during WWII. they simply dropped their weapons and bent over for hitler. in a way, we would be doing the same for the terrorists.
As I said, if I can save most of my people instead of leading them to a slaughter, I would. Because Germany were far superior in military might compared to France. And giving up may be losing, but why do we teach our children not to be sore loosers then if loosing is so horrible?
not to mention they would bring the fight to american soil.
And would you be so kind as to tell me how that would work. Will they launch their long-distance bombers towards the US? Will they deploy their mighty fleet of battleships and blast the East Coast?
Hi-jacking planes is not in any way prevented by fighting in Iraq. It is a country of regular people, not a safe haven for terror organizations. They can still penetrate american borders, and no amount of armies wil ever stop that.
maybe we should bring our troops back, and allow terrorists to blow up sections of cities or something so that people would wake up again
Again, tell me how terrorists are inhibited by fighting in Iraq.

i always was against the war in Iraq and against Bush's actions too. Saddam may have been a tyrant but he kept balance in Iraq in a way the US troops (the invaders, since they took over a country they had no real reason to invade - except oil prices ofc). Way more Iraqi people died after the so called war had ended, than before. The so called "Terrorists" are Iraqi patriots that are trying to take back their country from a foreign invader.
I'd really think that the War funds would be better off for public health, povery and education. It would be enough to feed the poor of the US for centuries. And the soldiers dying there have a right to return home safe. Especially since theres no "righteous cause" in Iraq for them. Bin Laden is still out there btw, and he was the one that organized 9/11, not Saddam. Saddam didnt have the weapons of mass destruction the US occused him he had either, so its one more reason to move out and apologize for the slaughter there.
if we leave because of the terrorist and dying troops, what is there sacrifice for, or the sacrifices of those who died before?
But what is our government sacrificing our troops for to begin with? The spread of democracy? Hardly the main issue. Not only is it failing, but regardless of how long we spend there, it is destined to fail. Osama bin Laden? And that was the first issue. Bush implicated Saddam with Al Qaeda. That was a load of crap in its entirety. Oil? Played a part.
Lesson 1: You cannot impose beliefs in a culture that does not connect on any level. The entire Middle East is theocratically based. You can just jump in and say, "DURR SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!" Then the only response you'll get is, "JIHAD!"
they are masters of propaganda. but this time we have many more reporters and people who enjoy distributing partial stories, who enjoy not telling all of the truth.
Are we talking about Fox News, now? Oh, I'm sorry. But seriously, what country doesn't put out propaganda? That's a weak argument.
if we pull out, the terrorists won, a vietnam all over again. and all those who lived there that supported us would be slaughtered just as the north upon the south vietnams.
You can't just throw around comparisons like that. The Iraq War is nothing like the Vietnam War. Vietnam wasn't about "terrorism", it was about capitalism vs. communism. China vs. America, and Vietnam was the battlefield. Not to mention that it was a huge slaughterhouse. There were over a hundred thousand casualties on both sides. The Iraq War has only a few thousand for the U.S. But I must say that the reason that there was this issue in Iraq was because the government put Saddam into power just because he said he wasn't a communist.
too many are anti-war here in this world of ours. not liking war and not wanting to do it is one thing that is both honorable and justifiable. but simply giving up or avoiding war at all costs is another thing. the example i am refering to is france during WWII. they simply dropped their weapons and bent over for hitler. in a way, we would be doing the same for the terrorists. not to mention they would bring the fight to american soil.
Although I must agree that France is a bitch country, that too is a bad analogy. WWII is not the same as the Iraq War on any level. It's not necessarily a genocide. Although Saddam did kill several thousand Iraqis for opposing him. However, that is hardly a genocide. And Iraq is not on a conquest.

Now, Doppelganger, what country are you from exactly? Because nobody likes it when you're a pretentious asshole. Pleeeeaaaaaseee tell me what country you're from, so I can proverbially tear you a new asshole.
the funny thing is you sucked these terrorists in the country and rained hell upon the country by invading the country, there werent any terrorists in the country before dumbass bush invaded it!
That's a load of bullshit if I ever saw one. In the Ba'athist overthrow of the government, Al Qaeda mobilized and took part in the battle. Want proof? Here's a quote from wikipedia:
Quote from name="a source OMFGZ?!?!" »
Osama bin Laden first took interest in Iraq when the country invaded Kuwait in 1990, raising concerns the secular Baathist government of Iraq might next set its sights on Saudi Arabia, homeland of bin Laden and Islam itself. In a letter sent to King Fahd, he offered to send an army of mujahedeen to defend Saudi Arabia.
oh what a proud moment it should have been for you, exept, it was all staged, every damn "local" was hired and given some little money to go there!!!! HAHAHA SUCKERS!!
You remind me of an autistic kid I used to have in my history class. And I will treat you just as I did him. He said that the Iraq War was a Hollywood production. Oh boy did I enjoy destroying him. Fucking Bushite. Anyways, speaking of propaganda, how about that statement you just made. That's not biased information at all. I mean, it's not like you're bending and breaking the truth to further your own point. At that rate you're no better than George Bush.
Listen, Doppelbanger, you're paranoid, Howard Stern-fueled tangent is a load of bullshit. I am afraid to touch any more of your post for fear of getting the stupid on me. Next time you want to say something intelligent, try actually doing it. You know...reading some authentic sources...not LSD-influenced hippies ranting about "the man".
I'm too busy to keep going. I'll save this for another day.
America should keep her dirty hands out of other countries. I guess they are feeling so big and powerful they keep on butting in into other peoples' businesses. Especially since they couldn't fight in 1812, neither they seem to be able to fight now (how long has they been sitting in Iraq?), they are only wasting their own people for oil.

that doesnt make sense at all. go read your history lessons on the first golfwar, you might learn something
How the hell do you deny a source presented to you? Last I checked, when someone presents a source to you, you take it into account. Just because you have no reading comprehension doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense. By the way, you spelled GULF war wrong. We're talking about Saddam Hussein, not Tiger Woods. Jackass.
And speaking of things that don't make sense, why the hell are you spouting all this conspiracy bullshit with absolutely no backing. All this talk of bribing to tear down a statue? Do you understand how little sense that makes?
does it matter wich country im from, or do you need one for arguments sake?
Well when a pretentious asshole comes spouting bullshit like, "durrr America is t3h evil", I like to provide a counter argument. But your argument is so stupid and lacking in information, that it makes it very unbearable for me to even consider what you're saying.
do you really think i just make some theory about that particular example?
I'll disregard your terrible grammar and use my reading comprehension to translate the bullshit that you spew from your mouth. Yes, I really do think that you did.
wow you surprice me, to say the least.
Your stupidity doesn't "surprice" me. And I'm not just talking about your grammar.
ive only seen a couple documentaries where you actually see the millitary rounding up the masses and riding them to the statue, giving them money and staging them exactly like in a movie production. it would be kinda hard to fake that wouldnt it?
Well, if you're so sure about that then would you mind giving me the names of those documentaries so I can completely discredit you and them? It's easy to say that you have sources. But to cite them is a completely different story. Too bad you failed to do that.
i only get to see abc news, cnn news, bbc world news, 3 newsprograms in my country, and 4 from neighburing countries, and a crapload of newspapers and documentaries, yea sure, my information must be biased, ignorant smartass.
Oh my god, you must be retarded. Make citations! All this talk and no walk. You must think that 9/11 was a government conspiracy too. And you people have been discredited countless times. You obviously don't watch any of those programs as you can't even recall these stories. And I'll tell you why these stories aren't able to be recalled. It's because they were never made.
if i remind you of an autistic child then how fucking dumb must you be?
That joke was a failure. And should have been aborted as soon as you conceived it. Just like your parents should have done for you. You haven't even made a point as to why I'm supposedly dumb, in which case, there are quite a few people here who can assure you that I am far more intelligent than you.
you already have stupidity written all over you, and you tell me im paranoid? Hahaha
That's the equivalent of saying, "No, you're stupid!" And your failure to make a good comeback makes you the stupid one. So please, now that your stupidity has been identified, I would direct you to wear a helmet and water wings, so the next time you walk into a street light or accidentally drown in the shower, you can have some solace in knowing that you tried to save yourself. Because, trust me, there is nothing that can save your stupid ass.

Oh man, and which country are you from? With that reference to the War of 1812, you're either Canadian, British, or French. In all cases, I still don't like you. But you can be happy, knowing that whichever one of those countries you're from, you're still in Iraq with us. Congratulations, you're government is one of the fingers of those dirty hands. And it's not like Britain or France has ever done anything imperialistic *cough* 13 Colonies *cough* all the crusades *cough* Pakistan/India *cough* Israel/Palestine *cough* Napoleonic conquest *cough*.
By the way, they "has" been in Iraq for 4 years now.

Those moderators are people just like everyone else. Not every single article is moderated. You need a moderators who knows everything to moderate a wiki. Not every article is truthful. I have been seeing some mistakes on pages relating to things that I'm really into, such as slightly incorrect dates, names, numbers. Wikipidea often dissagrees with my textbooks. I don't think there are all that many moderators in there. It's a damn wiki. There are some flags here and there, but they really don't mean anything, I've seen pages with nothing wrong on them flagged, too. It's unreliable. It's a good overview source, but a source to use in an argument - no. In fact, one source is never enough. If Wiki is the only source you can find...
And why is Wikipedia is not acceptable as a source in schools if it is so reliable?

Double lol. I'm neither from Briatain, Canada, or France. All wrong. Continue guessing.
I just watched an American movie from History channel on 1812. Americans could hardly show any opposition. They won due to British stupidity.
I like everybody, everybody hates me, I'm used to it, you can go on not liking me as long as you would, I don't care, only if it makes you feel better
My nation is too weak to particitpate in Iraq, lol. We don't even have natural gas of our own. Except I live in USA.
My country has never ever been imperialistic. It has always been sacked by various small parties. In the end it became a passive farming member of a superpower (hint, hint). But we are quiet now, back to our normal state.

most countries have had imperialistic times. Not to agree with things that happened in the past we can do, though. As for my country it goes far far to the past (what Athens did 500bC to around 200bC, Alexander the Great that most greeks revere and i kinda despise...).
Anyway, i'm against invasions for economic reasons and anyone from any country has the right to be, even if his country did/does that kind of things (past/present). Those who do could aswell be the ones protesting against such wars, so respect to that.
Mine didn't. We were, are, and will be farmers for a long time, and I hope it states that way.
thats why i said "most"
Exactly. 4 years, and Americans achieved nothing, only wasted billions on God knows what.
the most important thing that got wasted during these four years are the lives of the soldiers and the Iraqi people. More died during that time than during the initial attack. Way more. And that cant be replaced by money...
there are historical facts that relate to politics, though. those can be objective and we can look into them without having to see everyone's personal opinion on this matter. Its more like "this happened there, at that time". To find out why it usually comes to you (and to make it look convincing) since personal opinions (and thinking) play a major role in it.
the most important thing that got wasted during these four years are the lives of the soldiers and the Iraqi people. More died during that time than during the initial attack. Way more. And that cant be replaced by money...
Yup. And I like Americans, not at all happy to see many of them all die with loyal thoughts in mind because of someone's stupid ideas...
EDIT: Dopple, perhaps you two better calm down, eh...? This leads nowhere.
Yup. And I like Americans, not at all happy to see many of them all die with loyal thoughts in mind because of someone's stupid ideas...
its the same thing about everyone dying because of someone's stupid ideas. I happened to visit Syria last year and the Arabs were even more friendly than Greeks are to me (i'm Greek too :P). In general, there's no hate between the people. Its what each government does that pisses everyone off.
We've so far only talked about how it is. But does anyone have an idea of how this should be resolved? I don't know, just as Doppleganger said, pull out and everyone loses, stay and everyone loses. How do you solve that?

Its more like "this happened there, at that time". To find out why it usually comes to you (and to make it look convincing) since personal opinions (and thinking) play a major role in it.
EDIT: Dopple, perhaps you two better calm down, eh...? This leads nowhere.
its the same thing about everyone dying because of someone's stupid ideas. I happened to visit Syria last year and the Arabs were even more friendly than Greeks are to me (i'm Greek too :P). In general, there's no hate between the people. Its what each government does that pisses everyone off.
OK, just as long as you have fun and don't get angry at him, because that's bad...
