Here is the sketch for a painting of a rogue. The assassin was my favorite class in Lord of Destruction and I hope they make a rogue-ish class in diablo 3.
I'm perfectly aware of the fact that her chin looks strange. This is because it's in a weird angle, but it should look fine when I will add the shadows. I also might change her left hand slightly, because right now it looks a little bit smaller than it should be.
Also, it will be my first digitally colored painting so it might take a while before I finish it. Especially because I'm picky about what I want and it's digital, which means I'll be teaming up with a very good friend of mine called ''ctrl + z''.

If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask
I'm sure that's just the preliminary sketch for something far superior, right? If that's the final thing, then I must say that it's greatly lacking and too dull with no shocking details, shadowing techniques, or anything of that sort. It's pretty decent, don't get me wrong.
Thanks for your comments guys. I know that it looks rough and plain right now but It'll look better with the shading and colors ( at least I hope. maybe I should have chosen something easier for a first time digital painting) . And thanks for pointing out what I haven't seen last night. I posted a correction in the first post.
1. Hands. Too small? True. Made them slightly bigger.
2.
but it's too "nowdays look" , not so medieval outfit ...
.. almost look like Kill Bill.
I was afraid of that coming up. It's true. Unfortunately I realized it only after I finished drawing her, and I don't really feel like redesigning her clothing. Besides, I don't think she's that dramatically modern looking. However, I might add some dark glow around her arm or sword...to make it more magical and therefore less modern.
3. Sword. Thanks for filling me up about ninjas. I curved it and it even looks better that way.
4. Left arm angle. Yes, it's unnatural. I corrected it
5. Tights. This is actually pretty interesting. Because different woman have different tight lengths and sometimes it's pretty significant. For example, some Indian woman are known to have long tights. But in any case, in this situation they were way too long, and I didn't want her to have long tights either so I made them shorter.
6.Breasts. Shadows are coming up, don't worry. I'll shape them. Although I want them to remain behind her leather armor so their shape will be distinguishable to only some extent. But I might add a cleavage. So ...we'll see.
7. Lines on vest. Yes, I corrected them, now they really go around.
-the idea and visual thought u got in ur head spills out on ur drawings..i can tell how u want to express urself..
-the postion and pose are great
- the main thing is- it seems u have all this visual thougt in ur head but u dont spend enuff time putting it down..thats the struggle
-but i think what u need to really do is be a lot more loose with ur sketches...when u have ideas dont be too picky..let the drawings and ideas spill out in scribbles n such ull improve a loot in ur technical ability this way..
Thanks for the positive comments naj, I really appreciate it. And yes, that's one heck of a problem.
I'm drawing stuff since I'm a kid but somehow my observational abilities evolved much faster than my technical abilities. So I usually have a very very precise idea of what I want to draw but I am never quite able to draw it exactly as I want. It's normal to some extent when you think about it, but in my case the gap is way too big. It drives me completely insane.
Maybe I should let myself go loose more often.

dont use pencils use pen so u cant rub stuff out u will have no choice but to repeat ur drawings over n over to create the object in the form u want
Lol...i never thought of it that way. I will definitely try that out.
yep - nice drawing...
but it's too "nowdays look" , not so medieval outfit ...

I'd actually agree, but this is how modern (as in last year and this year) fantasy games are becoming, a sort of twist of the two. It's great if you just get past that and think of it as a new old, instead of insufficiently being either one or the other. Or at least that's how I think of it and it works for me. But she looks great- for some reason the shape of her head seems ultra-real to me, I'm not sure how to describe it. In most video games, the female's face is ultra-fine and light, but yours seems more realistic to me for some reason. It might just be the very light detail or something.
set the pen sensitivity setting quiite low so u can shade on full opacity, set spacing to 0 and use hard brush always
ok...hmmm. Why shading at full opacity and spacing to 0 ? Wouldn't it be logic to give shading opacity with pressure?
For those of you who don't like rogues. Yea I agree their skills set wasn't that good. I loved them for their looks ( I actually think their armor and ''tiny'' weapons looked nice) , their bad ass attitude and their affiliation with martial arts that's all.
Also, she's not a ninja.
Is this a Rogue as in a Rogue of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye?
Hmmm, i don't know. Weren't the sisterhood rogues mainly archers?
Hmmm, i don't know. Weren't the sisterhood rogues mainly archers?
Yeah, I mean, that was their primary means of attack. They sort of prided themselves on their archery. It's kind of interesting cause I wonder about what if any rivalry existed between them and the Amazons.
There could be unaffiliated rogues though, ones not affiliated with the Sightless Eye. But ones of that order I would not expect to look like the one you've drawn.
You might not be wanting this much input but......
Why would I not want it? I really appreciate your constructive criticism.
it helps to 'CHEAT-IN' structure lines as much as possible.
My mistake, didn't do it correctly.
No one bothers to critique the perspective, anatomy, values and color of a photo, but they will rip your art apart if it doesn't look right or 'read' correctly.
Yea, you're absolutely right about this. Don't know why I didn't think of it in the first place.
The outside edges of the eyes are pushed back in a little and this would show in your drawing with her head angled back.
oh my god. lol... and I was sitting around thinking: there is somethign not right with her eyes, I just don't know what dammit. Thanks man. Sometimes I find myself really stupid.
Great start though and don't get discouraged by all my 'fault'-finding.
I don't really see why anyone should be discouraged by that. Thanks again (especially for the paintover) , I really appreciate it.
You'r probably wondering how the project is advancing. Don't worry, all my free time is devoted to it. After days of struggling with painter, I'm finally getting something that I like. I'll give you a sneak peek of her face.
The base tones are done for the rest of the body. I haven't begun painting it yet but I think it will be much easier than the face ( Atleast I hope lol) . I attached the image in the first post.
Little update: after a revision of her clothing design I decided to add a cleavage. So for all of you who wanted more erhmm...who wanted a more developed chest, it'll be there.

But yeah they should and probably will put a rogue-like class in it.

if i were u, when painting i would add some dirt, grime, and bruises and possibly some blood to her.
very cool though i really look forward to seeing it painted
i dont understand why all of you guys like the assassins and rogues so much... imo they were the shittiest characters...
lmao what kind of rogue... does it really matter lol
shes a rogue so i would very much assume one exactly or at least very close to the rogue from d1, and the npc's from d2

If I wasn't taken, and she was real, I'd totally do her.

I told you guys it would look better with paint.
