id like to have the subtitle be, "The Fallen Angel", or "Lord of Shame". Its based around the idea that destroying the Worldstone corrupted Tyrael, and the Heavens have abondoned him for meddling with mortals.
I kept looking at the previous boxarts, including LOD, it has a style i just cant seem to mimic. My rendition seems more like it should be on a novel more than a game box. =(
it looks stupid. diablo does not use that feel for its games or its pictures. instead of clean and super-polished it has a rugged dark and evil feel. that just looks like someone used watermark on a tyrael pic and did the same that every other noob does. btw, stop making senseless threads. there are already threads of this sort, do us all a favor and stop multiplying the number of stupid threads made by stupid people already.

i agree, i said that in my post, i couldnt seem to mimic that dirty grungy style. As far as the other threads, i dont care. Most of the other threads did just that, put a wallpaper or a google pic in photoshop and slapped D3 across the bottom. Fortunantly here, i created the image solely from my two hands, i didnt spend the most time on it, but i did spend a solid few hours. So if that doesnt qualify as fan art, and doesnt belong in this area of the site, then i dont know what does.
ps. i dont mind if you think it looks stupid, (im not offended or hurt either) i goto art school and im majoring in illustration. Criticism comes hand in hand there, and if anything its the most i could ask for.
And for the record, the only PS filter i used was Texturize, the watermark type style is my own doing.
Well I've got some positive comments and some critiscism for you...
- The main character design is good. It's nice to see that you put some time into it and made it by yourself instead of using a picture off of google. However, the lines in the hood look a bit strange. They're very straight, hard lines. When I think of the angels from Diablo, the first thing that comes to mind is flow. They're surrounded by flowing lines and that seems to be incorporated into their general design.
- I like the fact that you used a proper border on this. I forgot about that when I made my fake box some time ago and was reminded after. Coming with that, I gotta say that the style of the border and the style of the main character picture clash quite a bit. It just looks awkward whithout the grungy texture - which I know you had some trouble with.
- Lastly, the logo. I see you decided not to go the traditional route and use a premade Diablo III logo, which is good. It's also good that you didn't opt to use a "3" instead of "III". The only thing that seems off to me is the discolouration when you brought down the opacity (or darkened it). This would have probably been better if you were to raise the contrast on it a bit, but without doing that the colour is just lost.
>> It's always nice to see different people's concepts of what they want the D3 box to look like. Your's is good. Nice job.
That's my two cents,
Jet
PS: Props for the "Lord of Shame" title Idea. I like that!
I like the light and dark side of the angel .. Kinda goes with the concept of Heaven and Hell.

Although D3 most likely wouldn't require D2 to play.
