I can find ruffly 6-8 chests per Core of Arreat. Which of course takes about 2 minutes. Core Loot Run
Basically you set your quest to Kill Azmodon but never kill him. Once you get the checkpoint at his door, you can run the zone backwards from now on. This lets you teleport right out to town. Hope this helps you get some legendaries! Chests are back!
So it's legendary farming?? Thats cool I'll have to give it a shot for a bit.

There's a lot of chests and demonic vessels there, but it's not like they have a huge chance to drop legendaries over anything else...keywarden farm at least
I wonder what kind of drop chance for a legendary chests have, if they are the same as monsters you might as well just kill them. I did feel like on the PTR that the bulk of legendary items I found I got from chests and breakables though.

This.
Also if you are killing the mobs of course you get your drops from them, you kill 100 of them per chest you open. but if you only did chests, i feel i still get them, without the effort of actually killing anything. This is how i gear my weaker classes, since they CANT farm xp effeciently at all and need gear.
did 25 runs on Normal Difficulty...nothing
right after that, i did 5 runs on Hard Difficulty...nothing. shut down computer to take a break and bath.
about 2 hrs later, i did 20 runs on Hard Difficulty...nothing BUT found 1 legendary [http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/ancient-parthan-defenders] from a chest on my 7th run [out of the 20]. That's all.
i killed every white mob, every elite, every treasure goblin, destroyed every pile of bones and whatever other breakable objects, open every chest and infernal smth. i had a total of 74%MF.
i guess they nerf it. but its pretty good to do this to get gems though.
I don't think they nerfed it yet (not sure if they will either) but it's not a bad run. Personally, i think that running a full act instead of like 30 core runs is a lot better. Core can spawn 1 shrine, 1 goblin, 3 elite packs, 1 rare mob, and 3-7 normal chests afaik so yeah it's pretty good. Another area that is quite similar is the Rakkis crossing. It has 1-7 chests, 1-3 champ packs, 0-2 events with a rare monster and tons of trash mobs. Not 100% sure about those numbers but it's something along those lines. Some people hate to run the Rakkis crossing cuz it's a graphically intensive area and might cause some fps drops on certain computers.
Why would you run on those difficulities if you want loot? Torment increases legendary drop rate so obviously you want to run it as high as possible.
I ran this ~10 times on T4 and got three legendaries. Took like 40 minutes. I'd say that's alright. Althugh it is way too little of a test to determine anything I guess.

It's been clarified by a blue that switching from say, Master to Torment, will increase the legendary drop rate. Not increasing the Torment level. Well, that's as much as we know anyway.
Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."

Pretty sure you mistunderstood the Blue. I am very sure that what he or she meant is that the legendary drop rate increases per tick on the torment slider, just as it says it does in game.
Ive been doing this off and on over the past fews days. The first night was great and I found 3 rings, a two handed mace, and a two handed flail. After the first night its been pretty terrible. It almost feels nerfed. Im going to run it tonight until I hit paragon 124 and see what drops for me.

It seems I may have, my mistake.

So the same thing as i had done for my Normal and Hard Difficulty runs:
i killed every white mob, elite and treasure goblin
i destroyed every pile of bones and infernal cocoon,
i opened every chest and demonic vessel.
i have a total of 74%MF throughout. hardly ever gotten the Fortune Shrine. the most once or twice. even then, i remember only getting it at the end of the run [tele to town to rinse and repeat].
didn't do anything else like went somewhere to kill monsters, etc. no breaks in between too. Total duration for those 50 runs - 1hr 23mins for 8 legendaries.
i guess its not worth doing the Normal or Hard Difficulty for lvl 60 characters?
To the man above me, we call that RNG. i know it seems huge, and your thinking that an hour is a good sample size. but it really isnt unfortunately. But i still do normal, i still get 1 every hour at least. sometimes 2 runs in a row like you did. RNG is such a fickle foe.
OK im so confused with the T1-T6 additional legendary drop rate. If i do this run in Torment 6 and just open the chests/vessels, not kill any mobs/elites/goblins, do i still have increased chance for legendaries? Anyone could run this in Torment 6 and just click on the chests.

I got 2 plans both from goblins
2 chests, 3 helms, 1 weapon, about half came from chests.
